"We Support George McCain For President"

Nerve - 6th Sep 2008

Sarah Palin:  For our last post about the RNC (thank The Lord Jesus That Watches Over Conservatives for that!), we wanted to show you a video that we think summarizes the feelings on the floor of the entire convention. Those feelings, conveniently, can be melted down to one line: some Republicans are staunch in their support of Bush and McCain, while others just wanted America to forget about Junior...This video is one in which I, Scanner Brian, must, in the interest of full disclosure, admit I was participant (I got Dennis Hastert to say how much he loved Bush and McCain and to take a sticker-- he was by far the nicest GOP power player we met in the Twin Cities.)We recommend watching it on YouTube in high quality, but it's not important. Anyway, don't miss the ending, in which Senator Norm Coleman is asked what his feelings are on the Bush legacy:Q: I just want to know how you feel about the last eight years of George Bush.A: Well, uh... bleheelyelylelyelyylellelelalalelela... [not an exact transcription] Also, although it's not in this video, the woman who puts the sticker on her forehead was ultimately completely unable to say why she supported Bush (or McCain) and, in fact, called her husband on camera to ask him for her talking points. ("He says we don't believe in wealth redistribution." Genius.) Team McCain Chooses Charles 'Softball' Gibson for First Sarah Palin TV Interview [Fail]
Well, the press can stop wondering when and where Sarah Palin's first post-nomination television interview will take place. A campaign adviser says they offered ABC nightly news anchor Charles Gibson the job days ago. That's the same Charles Gibson who was last seen being "greasily avuncular and patronizing" when he and his ABC cohort George Stephanopoulos were ruining the Democratic primary debate back in April. You know, the ABC-sponsored event about which a New Yorker scribe wrote, "Seldom has a large co

'W.' trailer: Can his expose of George W. Bush get Oliver Stone back in the Oscars derby?
Oliver Stone's newest film, "W.," about the life of the current U.S. commander in chief could well put the three-time Oscar winner back in the derby. As you will see from the trailer, Josh Brolin eerily embodies George W. Bush, just as his father, James, bore a strong resemblance to President Ronald Reagan when he portrayed him in a 2003 TV miniseries. Oscar winners Richard Dreyfuss as Vice President Dick Cheney and Ellen Burstyn as Barbara Bush lend support as do Oscar nominee James Cromwell as Preside

Sarah Palin Affair is "Absolutely, Completely False"
The National Enquirer recently wrote a story, purporting that Sarah Palin once had an affair with one of her husband's business associates. Palin, GOP VP candidate and mother of 5, including pregnant 17-year-old daughter Bristol, just made the speech of her life at the Republican National Convention last week. Then the rumor came out that Palin actually had the affair with the husband of her former campaign manager in Alaska. Well, they're actually the same guy. Todd Palin's business partner, Sc

Even Lindsay weighs in on Palin…
Yes. I’m an Alaskan. And yes, I have some opinions about our governor, and the fact that McCain has chosen her for his VP running mate for the upcoming election. Everyone in the free world has an opinion on her, and - as always happens - are digging for all the dirt on Sarah Palin and her family. Now, rumors that her youngest son, born in April, was actually her daughter’s baby have forced her to place her daughter in the limelight, to be studied, because she is 17 years old and five months pre

Heart says "Barracuda" use is fishy
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The rock group Heart, angry that its '70s hit "Barracuda" is being used as the unofficial theme song for Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin, is taking aim at the Alaska governor. The song, a nod to the "Sarah Barracuda" nickname Palin earned on the basketball court in high school, was dusted off for her appearance at the Republican National Convention in St. Paul on Wednesday. Heart singers Ann and Nancy Wilson said a "cease-and-desist" letter has been s

Oh how I love live blogging. Not only do I not have to go searching for some good gossip, I get to write fast and not edit myself, throwing annoying nuisances like spelling and grammar out the window. So why not live blog Sarah Palin’s address to the Republican National Convention? Lori has left the room to balance our check book, not able to stomach the lies and hot air. But I am a trooper so here we go. 9:27 - Rudi Gulliani is still yammering on with his intro. Luckily I just finished watching Pro

The polar bears are doing just fine - Sarah Palin
NEW YORK (RUSHPRNEWS) 09/06/2008–Denying that global warming is man-made and disputing the theory of evolution as solid science as Sarah Palin does, forces one to wonder if this is solid thinking for someone who needs to be ready to step in the presidency at a moment notice. In addition to her unscientific views on evolution and as reported by the Anchorage Daily News, her attempt at bringing creationism to Alaskan public schools, Palin has said she does not believe that “global warming is man-made

Palin Daughter's Babydaddy: Some Dude Named Levi, Reports Enquirer
Make that 2-0 for David Perel. Fresh off his success with the John Edwards story, sources tell Radar that an aggressive 36-hour push by Perel's National Enquirer reporting team forced Alaska Governor and John McCain's vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin to announce that her 17-year-old daughter Bristol is pregnant, an announcement which effectively puts an end to the Internet rumor that Palin had faked her own pregnancy to cover up her daughter's. (Or does it? There are already conspiracy theories that

McCain Speech Breaks Ratings Records
Republican Presidential candidate John McCain edged out his opponent, the Democratic Presidential nominee Barack Obama, in the Nielsen TV ratings, according to Reuters. While almost 40 million viewers watched both men accept their party's nomination, slightly more watched the Republican nominee, with 38.9 million tuning in to McCain, while 38.3 million watched Obama's speech. McCain's talked-about VP choice, Sarah Palin, attracted almost as many viewers as the Presidential nominees -- 37.2 million viewers

ABC's Charles Gibson getting interview with Gov. Sarah Palin
Gov. Sarah Palin came in for a lot of criticism on the Sunday morning chat shows because she wasn't giving interviews. Turns out she will give a major interview this week to ABC's Charles Gibson (pictured) in Alaska. I wonder why Rick Davis couldn't have announced that news when he appeared on "Fox News Sunday"? The McCain campaign could have avoided sniping from the press and the Democrats about Palin being sequestered from the media. The McCain camp knew this information: It made the offer t

Sarah Palin meets the press, ABC says
"Here's a news flash,'' as Sarah Palin likes to say: The Republican nominee for vice president will sit with ABC News' Charlie Gibson for an interview, according to ABC. When Palin will meet the press is not entirely clear, however. Palin, who accepted Sen. John McCain's assignment to be his running mate 10 days ago but has yet to submit to questions from any reporters covering the election campaign, which, as ABC notes, has prompted some ribbing from the other side. Sarah Palin: New Political Rock Star
“To any critics who say a woman can’t think and work and carry a baby at the same time, I’d just like to escort that Neanderthal back to the cave.” - Sarah Palin. With her ‘naughty librarian’ good looks, north country drawl of Marge Gunderson, middle class heroine appeal of Norma Rae, grace of Jackie Kennedy, and a voice that sounds like Julia Roberts, Governor Sarah Palin took a stage in the Twin Cities of Minnesota and drank Barack Obama’s milkshake. They were just two of the media-blanketing opinions that followed John McCain's unveiling of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his choice for veep. Evangelicals were euphoric, Republican pundit Peggy Noonan was clearly not so sure and Democrats readied their attacks. Ad Age asked a handful of
