They Live 2!?
buzznewsroom.com - 5th Dec 2008
John Carpenter:
John Carpenter’s cult 1988 film is getting the remake treatment from Universal and studio-based Strike Entertainment, which are in negotiations to acquire the film rights with rights holder Les Mougins.
Strike’s
Marc Abraham and Eric Newman will produce, while Shep Gordon of Les Mougins and
Carpenter will serve as executive producers.
The original film, part sci-fi thriller and part social satire, told the story of a down-on-his-luck construction worker (Roddy Piper) who discovers glasses that let him see aliens walking among us and controlling humanity. The man races against the clock to find a way to stop them.
The movie is known for a fight scene that lasts 5 1/2 minutes and for the line, “I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass … and I’m all out of bubblegum.”

Universal to Chew Bubblegum and Kick Ass in 'They Live' Remake
Some remake announcements I just shrug off, some I get excited for, and then some just plain get under my skin. While I am a remake enthusiast, there are some films I consider untouchable, and if a studio is going to remake a film all I ask is that it's different. Universal did throw us a pretty damn good remake of DAWN OF THE DEAD, so maybe a remake of John Carpenter's They Live won't be all that bad? Besides, Zack Snyder's Strike Entertainment is getting involved, which can only mean good things (right?).
John Carpenter’s They Live Gets a Remake
I have come here to chew bubblegum and remake movies… and I’m all out of bubblegum. Will John Carpenter be the first director to have his entire filmography remade — while he is still alive, no less? It certainly looks that way. With Halloween, The Fog and Assault on Precinct 13 all getting updates over the past few years, and new versions of Escape from New York and The Thing also supposedly in development, now we have yet another one to add to the list: They Live starring Rowdy Roddy Pip
6 Rules For Remaking John Carpenter's They Live [They Live]
Rumor has it that Strike Entertainment is talking about picking up the rights to John Carpenter's They Live. This fills me with mixed emotions, because They Live is full of great moments (like a newsstand filled with black and white subliminal messages embedded into the magazines and papers). But at the same itme, how do you recreate such cheesetastic "I came here to kick ass and chew bubblegum" lines and fight scenes? It's impossible, unless you follow these simple rules.

31 Days of Horror: Day 8 - In the Mouth of Madness
Any horror movie list needs to have at least one or two John Carpenter movies on. I thought about throwing Halloween on the list but that is just too simple and everyone has seen it. I’also have to say I’m a bigger fan of In the Mouth of Madness than of his other horror movies. Carpenter manages to create a modern H.P. Lovecraft classic story. In my mind it is fairly easy to create a world where a serial killer is stalking people but it is not so easy to create a terrifying descent into madness
Aliens, Criminals, and Other Carpenter Tools
John Carpenter will forever be associated with "Halloween," his brilliantly original (and profitable) 1978 horror film that helped inaugurate the modern slasher era, a movement that now includes more than a half-dozen uninspired "Halloween" sequels. But while horror is what ultimately gave Mr. Carpenter the budgetary and artistic freedom to make the films he wanted to make, his imagination has never been one-dimensional. Beginning Monday, the Brooklyn Academy of Music will launch a brief film...

"The Thing" Remake in the Works
Roush spoke with director Marc Abraham, whose new movie, Flash of Genius, will be in theaters Oct. 17, 2008. A future project of Abraham’s is producing a remake of the 1982 horror classic John Carpenter’s The Thing, about a shape-shifting alien that’s revived after being frozen in ice.
Abraham revealed that the movie would be “more of a prequel than a sequel,” and would chronicle the events leading up to the 1982 film.

HALLOWEEN 2 films in January
Dread Central have heard from a reporter at the 30 Years of Halloween Convention in Pasadena, CA. that producer Malek Akkad announced a January start date for HALLOWEEN 2, a direct sequel to Rob Zombie’s remake of the original 1978 John Carpenter classic.
Tyler Mane, the former wrestler who played Michael as “The Shape” has already agreed to return and talks are under-way with several of the actors from the first movie. Rob Zombie though, won’t return to direct.

Exclusive: News On The 1982 Remake Of The Thing
Today to I spoke to director Marc Abraham whose new movie, “Flash of Genius” is coming out soon. But he's not known for directing. he's know for producing. One of his future projects is a remake of the 1982 horror classic “John Carpenter's The Thing.”
I asked Marc how can you possibly top the 1982 version and whether or not it is a remake or a sequel. This was his reply:
"This is more of a prequel than a sequel, there is your exclusive. Its going to be taking place in the same time frame."

Rob Zombie Returning for ‘Halloween 2′?
In the last few weeks, the French directors behind ‘Inside’, Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo, parted ways once again with Dimension films on one of their horror properties. First it was the remake of ‘Hellraiser’. Then it was the followup to Rob Zombie’s version of ‘Halloween’.
Now comes the rumor, and it is a rumor, mind you, that Zombie could be sitting back down in the director’s chair for yet another ‘Halloween’. An “insider
Joss Whedon’s “Dollhouse” Takes A Production Break

I’m told that because Joss directed two of the three episodes already shot, he has not had sufficient time to be in the writers room and tailor the upcoming scripts to his liking. A rep from 20th Century Fo
