William Katt: The Hero Guest-Stars on 'Heroes'
William Katt, who played the lead role in the '80s television show Greatest American Hero, is the latest classic sci-fi TV actor to make an appearance on the NBC show Heroes. "I just filmed it last week," Katt says of his appearance on Heroes. "I play a really, really wonderful, seedy, smarmy-mouthed reporter that goes after Ali Larter. It was a lot of fun." Although Larter's character, Niki Sanders, was apparently trapped in a house that exploded at the end of last season, not only is she back on the

George Takei and partner plan to wed in September
George Takei, best known for playing Sulu on "Star Trek," will never forget the first time he saw Brad Altman, the man he plans to marry, more than two decades ago. They were working out in a running club and he couldn't take his eyes off Altman, who had a "lean, tightly muscled" body, the 71-year-old actor told AP Radio in an interview. Takei said he asked Altman to help him train for a marathon, they fell in love, and now they've been living together for 21 years. Altman said he proposed by gett

Brad & George Take Bromance to Venice
Angelina Jolie is obviously secure enough in her relationship with Brad Pitt to stay back in France while her man hangs out with buddy George Clooney at the 65th Annual Venice Film Festival. After all, the good pals have been practically inseparable since arriving Tuesday. First, they hung out together at last night's Not On Our Watch charity event to raise funds for victims in the Darfur region of Sudan. Then on Wednesday, the two got all jokey with the media—and each other—during a press conf

George Takei: Licensed to Wed
George Takei just beamed up a marriage license. The Star Trek alum and longtime partner Brad Altman were among the first same-sex couples to obtain licenses in West Hollywood this morning. "I think it's a glorious California morning to make history," the erstwhile Sulu said. "Congratulations to all of us: May equality live long and prosper." The 71-year-old actor and his 54-year-old partner have been together for 21 years. Takei said the couple will wed on Sept. 14. Their wedding license is good

New Valkyrie Pictures: Tom Cruise and Bryan Singer and Hitler
Tom Cruise and Bryan Singer, like all right-minded people, don't like Nazis. More specifically, they don't like Hitler and they want to kill him. In the upcoming movie Valkyrie, directed by Singer, Cruise will play Claus Von Stauffenberg, a key player in a failed (obviously) attempt to assasinate the Fuhrer. Empire has three exclusive images from that film. The film also stars Bill Nighy, Kenneth Brannagh, Terrence Stamp, Carice van Houten and Eddie Izzard. These images and more appear in the new issue

'Superman Returns' sequel confirmed
Bryan Singer has confirmed that he has started work on a sequel to Superman Returns. The 2006 film starred Brandon Routh, Kate Bosworth and Kevin Spacey. The director said the project, which has been rumoured since October 2006, is still in the early stages. He told Empire: "I’m just getting back with writers after the strike. We’re just in the development phase. I’m starting to develop a sequel... with the intention of directing it." He also hit out at claims that the original film was a co

Mission: Impossible 4?
Coming off the box office blunder Lions for Lambs, and looking towards a potential disaster with Valkyrie, Tom Cruise needs another big hit, and he needs it soon. Everyone in Hollywood pretty much assumes that Cruise will push another Mission: Impossible film into production before the release of Bryan Singer’s historical thriller early next year. Now an insider pretty much confirms our suspicions, telling Life & Style Magazine, “Tom will make M:I 4 once Paramount greenlights the script. There will m

Iron Man is the Best-Reviewed Movie of 2008!
Sure to be the first bona fide blockbuster of 2008, Iron Man already has its first crown to claim. The Marvel icon's inaugural foray onto the big screen is not only Certified Fresh and Rotten Tomatoes' best-reviewed film of the year so far -- it's also potentially one of the highest-rated superhero movies of all time. Paramount's Iron Man will kickstart the summer season when it opens nationwide this Friday, and tent poles don't get much bigger or better than this; as of today, Iron Man sits at 95 percen

Superman vs. Spider-Man Film Announced
As you’ve already heard, a monumental decision was passed by the court earlier this week. Time Warner lost the Superman copyright rights to the heirs of Jerome Siegel. We speculated that this could put the Bryan Singer-helmed Superman sequel The Man of Steel and the already troubled Justice League of America in jeopardy… And it has. Apparently Joanne Siegel, Mr. Siegel’s widow, has other plans for the future of the popular superhero. Variety reports that Siegel has signed a contract with Marvel Stu

George Takei Plans To Wed His Partner
George Takei is the latest celebrity to announce plans to wed after California's Supreme Court allowed gay marriage under the state's constitution. "Our California dream is reality," the former Star Trek star, 71, wrote in a post on his Web site. "Brad Altman and I can now marry. We are overjoyed! At long last, the barrier to full marriage rights for same-sex couples has been torn down. We are equal with all citizens of our state!" Takei, who came out in 2005, has been with his partner for over 21 y

"The best man is my colleague from Star Trek, Walter Koenig, who played Chekov, and the matron of honor is (Lt.) Uhura, Nichelle Nichols," Takei tells PEOPLE. "And Leonard (Nimoy) and his wife Susan are on the (guest) list." Takei was at Equality Maryland's seventh annual Night Out for Equality gala on Sunday night in Bethesda,

Bryan Singer Producing Capeshooters for Warner Brothers
Yesterday we learned that Red 5 Comics' property ZMD: Zombies of Mass Destruction had been picked up for a big-screen adaptation after being on shelves less than a month. With the flurry of success this year for comic book-based movies, it seems the frenzy to snatch up the next hot thing might be ever-so-heightened. Take, for instance, the not-yet-released comic book called "Capeshooters," which was just secured by Warner Bros. Throwing money at intangible ideas is nothing new, but this does seem a tad uniq

Tom Cruise Mystery
It appears that Tom Cruise isn't putting all his eggs into the Valkyrie basket. Valkyrie, you'll recall, is the Bryan Singer-directed thriller in which Cruise plays a German officer who tried to assassinate Hitler. That project has hit some bumps on its way to theaters. Meanwhile, Cruise is also making an attempt to go back to his roots. But making that happen isn't simple: It seems that the Cruise camp recently reached out to Paramount about making Mission: Impossible 4 and got seriously disavowed. Para

Tom Cruise's Adolf Hitler film put back into Hollywood bunker
The fortunes of Hollywood actor Tom Cruise have suffered a blow with the news that his next big film has been postponed until 2009. The release of Valkyrie, which tells the story of the 1944 assassination plot against Hitler, was first postponed from this summer to the autumn and is now not expected to appear until next year. “We were originally expecting the film to be released in June,” said a senior executive at one of Britain’s leading cinema chains. “I know there have been all sorts

Superman Status Update
The debate continues to rage about what Warner Bros. should do with Superman. The last movie, Bryan Singer's Superman Returns, paid hommage to the Richard Donner Superman movies without completely updating the franchise the way Christopher Nolan did with Batman Begins. Fans have been clamoring all over the web--and on this blog--for a complete reboot. And within the halls of Warner Bros. the same debate rages on. They too believe that the last movie didn't break the mold and wound up in some kind of mid

Tom Cruise's Valkyrie Release Delayed Again
The release date of Tom Cruise's Valkyrie has been pushed back again, Variety reports. Originally slated for a June release, and then an October release, the action film set during World War II will now hit theaters for President's Day weekend. When it opens on February 13, 2009, Valkyrie will compete with Confessions of a Shopaholic and Pink Panther 2. In the film, Cruise stars as Colonel Claus Graf Schenk von Stauffenberg, the leader of the unsuccessful attempt to assassinate Adolf Hitler in July
