Bill Maher takes on religion with Sherri Shepherd on The View
Bill Maher, who is currently promoting his new film Religulous, made fun of religion in general on The View this morning, especially with Sherri Shepherd, who has been VERY vocal about her personal beliefs. Watch:
If you didn’t catch it, here’s what they said exactly:
“When you did this movie, you talked to a lot of people about God — have you ever just talked to God, and asked God what does he think?”

Bill Maher Rips Into Religion, Sherri Shepherd On The View
When did The View become Meet The Press? First the ladies ripped John McCain a new cornhole, now they’re having heated discussions about religion with Bill Maher. Maher clearly wasn’t going to tone down his stance for Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Sherri Shepherd, who became offended when Maher asked them earnestly if they believed Barack Obama might be the antichrist (as a recent e-mail chain has suggested). “A lot of people do—if you’re irrational, who knows?” he said. Bill Maher Recommends Insane Asylum for Sherri Shepherd on 'View' Appearance Gone Awry [Where's Your God Now?]
After Bill Maher sat down with TV Guide last month to rip into Sherri Shepherd's religious beliefs, we figured his days of guesting on The View had been put firmly behind him. Imagine our surprise, then, when some crafty producer booked Maher for a slot on today's View to promote his new (to the world outside Claremont) film, the controversial, religion-debunking Religulous. Would sparks fly?
Lord, yes. Things came to a head at the end of Maher's segment, when Shepherd asked the skeptical Maher whether h
Did Bill Maher Get Kicked Off The View After Telling Sherri To Go To Bellevue? [View Askew]
newVideoPlayer("/viewmaher_jez_512K.flv", 475, 376,""); Bill Maher was on The View this morning to promote his controversial new documentary Religulous, in which the comedian/provocateur/atheist poses questions about religion and spirituality. Maher called Sherri Shepherd irrational because she believes in the story of Noah's Ark — as in, a 900-year old man and a pair of every species on earth in a boat — word for word. In response, Sherri suggested that Maher talk to God (she says that God talks to he
Bill Maher tells the ladies of The View, he thinks Sherri Shepard may need a psych ward.
Bill Maher appeared on “The View” this morning to promote his upcoming film, “Religulous,” which comes out Friday. When Bill and Sherri Shepherd discussed the movie, as well as Christianity, things got heated! Sherri, whose devout religious beliefs have caused some discussions on the show before, asked, “When you did this movie, you talked to a lot of people about God — have you ever just talked to God, and asked God what does he think?”

Bill Maher Shares his View
I've got a heavy man-crush on Bill Maher, so much so that it aches my heart. His anti-religion views are right up my alley (sorry, God), and his deft mix of political clarity and edgy humour is often spot on. Not only that, but his HBO show Real Time With Bill Maher is home to some of the sharpest political commentary and debates on television, and are often must-see in these historic times. Maher is currently doing the rounds to promote his new faith-mocking documentary Religulous, and this morning, got h
The View September 30th: Bill Maher, Kevin Farley, and Dr. Drew Pinsky
Today on The View, it was the four main hosts, with no Barbara Walters. The first topic was the rejected bailout and the drop in the stock market. Sherri Shepherd said she didn’t understand because she thought they were so close. Joy Behar just got a message from Barack Obama saying that he will suggest later today to increase the FDIC limit to $250,000. Elisabeth Hasselbeck said that you want the right package to pass and she hopes the people we elected are thinking about the people and not polit

Interview: Bill Maher of 'Religulous'
(Note: The following interview ran earlier this month during the Toronto International Film Festival. We're re-running it now in anticipation of the film's theatrical release this week.)
By: James Rocchi
Even after debuting Religulous, his new docu-comedy about faith in the modern world directed by Larry Charles (Borat), Bill Maher still has plenty of questions of his own: "I was saying to Larry in the car on the way over here: I suddenly realized that I don't know the relationship between the Devil and t

newVideoPlayer("/Maher2_Jezebel.flv", 506, 423,""); Bill Maher wants you to know that it's time to stop discriminating against John McCain and the Captains of Failed Industry for their race! I mean, just because McCain has sucked at the government teat for most of his adult life, and just because the white dudes that used to run the financial services industry and running around asking for handouts doesn't mean all old white dudes are like that. The clip above, from Friday's Real Time with Bill Maher, soun
RELIGULOUS: Red Band Trailer, Bill Maher on NPR
First, the funniest Religulous trailer I’ve seen. Think of it as a ”red band” trailer… even though we’re only talking about an appropriately funny f-bomb at the tail end.
It begins with Bill Maher saying: “That’s really The Vatican. I oughta know, I just got thrown out of it.”
Second, Bill Maher and director Larry Charles (Borat) appeared on NPR’s Fresh Air this week. One insightful nugget from the interview: Maher acknowledged the beauty and
Bill Maher on his new film 'Religulous'
You don't need to believe in God to take issue with Bill Maher's " Religulous," a quasi-documentary that mocks religion as ridiculous, crazy, even dangerous. It's a nasty, condescending, small-minded film, self-amused and ultimately self-defeating. Its only accomplishment is to make atheists look bad -- and in this political climate they didn't need Maher's help with that.
At least "Religulous" is timely. With eight years of George W. Bush's faith-based presidency nearly behind us, and the prospect of a
BILL MAHER BRANDS SARAH PALIN A “BIMBO”
Bill Maher joined the ladies of The View today and the liberal late-night television talk show host did not hold back when discussion turned to Sarah Palin.
When asked how he thought the Republican vice-presidential nominee from Alaska will do in the upcoming debate, Maher tore in to Palin saying that he’s seen her speak twice and the “sentence to nowhere” is what comes out of her mouth. Meow!
He went on to say that if the comments came out of Joe Biden’s mouth, we would think h
Maher takes crusade vs. religion to big screen
Bill Maher, who has been picking on organized religion for years on his TV shows "Politically Incorrect" and "Real Time," zealously traveled the world for "Religulous," his documentary challenging the validity and value of Christian, Jewish and Islamic faiths.
'Religulous' is Bill Maher at his best
"I'm only asking questions," says comic/professional provocateur Bill Maher in "Religulous." The host of HBO's "Real Time" says it to a group of truckers at a roadside trailer chapel in North Carolina, because what he's putting under the microscope is unexamined beliefs. And, as might be expected, someone feels like their faith is being crucified.
It's not. The truth is, what Maher attempts in his new comic documentary is an examination of how those topics once avoided in polite company - religion and polit
Bill Maher Calls Sarah Palin "A Bimbo"
Oh, Bill Maher, how I love you. Much as I want to hate the guy, because he's even more cynical than me, I can't do it. He says what a lot of people are afraid to say, even if they won't admit it.
Yesterday Bill was on "The View" and the host of "Real Time" on HBO held nothing back when the inevitable came up...Sarah Palin.
He said, "I've seen her try to speak...twice...and the 'sentence to nowhere' is what comes out of her mouth." He also calls Palin a
Bill Maher Doesn’t Like Sarah Palin
Bill Maher appeared on ABC’s The View today and the topic of Sarah Palin came up, he made his thoughts very clear on her.
He calls her a bimbo, says if Joe Biden made the same comments she has made, then we would think he has brain damage.
