The Problem With Palin

www.limelife.com - 3rd Sep 2008

John McCain: Stupid is as stupid does. There's something that really bugs us about Sarah Palin's nomination. Since John McCain chose the Alaska governor as his running mate last Friday, we've been treated to delightfully moronic commentary, like this choice piece of political insight from Tony Perkins, President of the Family Research Council: "She’s also really a checkmate for the Democratic Party because folks who were looking to make history for Barack Obama can make history by voting for John McCain in seeing the first woman elected to the vice-presidency. It was a very strategic move by John McCain."Wha?!? People are not interchangeable! Voting for a woman just because she's a woman is not the same as voting for Obama just because he's not a crusty white guy who played cricket with the Bush family. And both are ridiculous. More glaring: Sarah Palin is not Hillary Clinton. To think the 18 million people who voted for Clinton are going to run on over to Palin-place simply because she has a birth canal is beyond offensive. Tonight Governor Palin will speak, as the VP nominee, at the Republican National Convention. A piece of advice for the Talking Heads who may be watching (and commenting): talk less about her hair and makeup and how she's going to "make history," and more about her record and readiness to be VP.OK, rant over. Now back to looking at new celebrity couples! Read full story at www.limelife.com

Pundits Agree: Sarah Palin is a Freakin' Supernova
Sarah Palin bashed Barack Obama, which most pundits didn't expect, or advise. She also lobbed some decent punchlines at the talking head class, and for that, we appreciate her. But how did the folks who are paid to over-analyze these type of things, and who were on The Receiving End of her taunts, respond to her words? MSNBC's Keith Olbermann: "People who like this sort of thing will find this the sort of thing they like." MSNBC's Chris Matthews: "At no time, during her entir

For 18-year-old Levi Johnston, the answer is to chew gum obnoxiously on the stage at the Republican National Convention, even while meeting presidential candidate John McCain. With rousing convention speech, Palin becomes a force in McCain candidacy
Normally, vice-presidential nominees don’t end up swinging the outcome of a presidential race, political scientists like to say. It’s the top of the ticket that nearly all voters base their decisions on. But this is a year in which a running mate – Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the No. 2 to GOP nominee John McCain – could make a difference. She has burst onto the national stage with such force, casting Senator McCain in a whole new light, that most engaged voters can’t help but have an opi

Sarah Palin Questions Obama's Experience At Republican National Convention
ST. PAUL, Minnesota — A week ago, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin was barely a blip on the national political map. On Tuesday night, President Bush praised presumptive Republican presidential candidate John McCain as a maverick unafraid to go his own way and who makes decisions that don't toe any part

Palin Had Affair, Says Enquirer
Just as Sarah Palin was preparing to speak at the Republican convention in St. Paul (more on that momentarily), word bubbled up that the National Enquirer alleged in its print edition that John McCain's running mate had an affair with a business partner to her husband. With the sensational charge, the supermarket tabloid is gambling the measure of respect it has earned from more buttoned-down media in the wake of its reporting on John Edwards's affair with a campaign staffer, which was partially admitted to

McCain Officially Nominated, But Palin Steals the Show
Senator John McCain was officially nominated as the presidential candidate of the Republican party last night, but his running mate Sarah Palin took the convention hall by storm. The Governor of Alaska addressed the crowd and energized them by introducing herself and her family--and aggressively attacking Barack Obama:Before I became governor of the great state of Alaska, I was mayor of my hometown. And since our opponents in this presidential election seem to look down on that experience, let me explain t

Rudy Attacks, Right Out of the Republican Convention Playbook
MINNEAPOLIS—In what may be a preview of his keynote speech tonight to the Republican National Convention, Rudy Giuliani spoke to the New York Republican delegation at a downtown Marriott this afternoon and attacked Barack Obama on matters of national security and experience. “At the top of the ticket they have someone who is the least experienced candidate for president in 100 years,” said Giuliani. The New McCain Ad
Here's the new McCain campaign attack ad. Entitled "Let's Try To Distract People From The Fact That My Risky, Under-researched Choice Of A Running Mate Has Been A Complete Disaster, God Knows Which One Of Her Kids Is Gonna Catch Pregnant Next" (or, if you want to be technical about it, "Alaska Maverick"), it's actually quite effective: Until I saw it, I had no idea that Barack Obama was the candidate of big oil while Sarah Palin stood up to the industry. And, the more I think about it, Sarah Palin's story i
