McGoohan died on Tuesday in Los Angeles after a short illness, his son-in-law, film producer Cleve Landsberg, said on Wednesday.
McGoohan was best known as the title character Six in The Prisoner, a surreal 1960s British series in which a former spy is held captive in a small village and constantly tries to escape.

Mr. McGoohan, whose career involved stage, screen and TV, died Tuesday at St. John's Health Center in Santa Monica after a short illness, said Cleve Landsberg, Mr. McGoohan's son-in-law.

Montalban, 88, was in deteriorating health over the past several days but "died peacefully" at 6:30 a.m. at his home, son-in-law Gilbert Smith said.

More sad news today, Ricardo Montalban has died he was 88. Montalban's death was announced at a city council meeting by president Eric Garcetti, who represents the district where the actor lived. Garcetti did not give a cause of death.
