Obama wins NC. MO only state still out
The Associated Press this afternoon gave North Carolina to President-elect Barack Obama today, which makes him the first Democrat since Jimmy Carter in 1976 to win that state, with its 15 electoral votes.
So now Obama's winning electoral map looks like this:
The only state that hasn't been called yet is Missouri with 11 electoral votes.
Obama has won nine of President Bush's 2004 states, which pretty much underscores how perfect this electoral storm was with the combination of Obama's effective gr

Pop culture moments that defined Election '08
NEW YORK - Given the historic election we've all just experienced, it's hard to remember back to last week, let alone June 2007, when Barack Obama was a true underdog, polling way behind front-runner Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Tax rebate, food stamp money possible in aid plan
AP - After consulting with Barack Obama, Democratic leaders are likely to call Congress back to work after the election in hopes of passing legislation that would include extended jobless benefits, money for food stamps and possibly a tax rebate, officials said Saturday.
The bill’s total cost could reach $150 billion, these officials said.
The officials stressed that no final decisions have been made. They spoke on condition of anonymity, saying they did not want to pre-empt a formal announcement. H

Obama's sweet talk is a tale of pie
Sen. Barack Obama likes pie. Over the last three days of campaigning, it's become clear that he's given a great deal of thought to pie. He's talked about the kinds of pie he likes, about having a pie contest where he'll be a judge, and how pie fits into the larger economic difficulties of our time.
On Thursday afternoon, in Georgetown, Ohio, Obama and Gov. Ted Strickland stopped at a diner for pie. He's been talking about the visit ever since. He waxed on about his pie during a rally in Portsmouth, Ohio t
Beyonce and Diddy both cried when Obama was declared winner
Tuesday night was an incredibly emotional evening for many Americans. Knowing you are witnessing history is a deeply profound feeling – especially when it’s such a needed change. I was truly touched to see the joy on people’s faces, as well as the deep displays of emotion.
Several celebs have said how excited and happy they were to watch Obama being declared the next president of the United States. Both Diddy and Beyonce said they cried that night – and I’m sure they’re one of millions.
Obama Taps Emanuel for Chief of Staff
Less than 48 hours after securing the presidency, President-Elect Barack Obama has quickly moved to build his team selecting Illinois Rep. Rahm Emanuel as his Chief of Staff.
Sending out a clear signal that he seeks to reach across the aisle and work with Republicans, Obama plans a swift launch of an aggressive agenda that will focus on the economy, taxes, energy, education and health care.

Team Obama Welcomes Robert Gibbs?
It appears that President-Elect Barack Obama is taking care of his closest advisors as Politico.com is reporting that top aide, Robert Gibbs will be named the White House press secretary.
Gibbs successfully served as a liaison between Obama and the press and was usually the senior official on Air Obama, the campaign plane. As communications director of Obama’s Senate office, Gibbs was a key strategist in Obama’s rapid move to the national stage.

McCain campaigns for Obama at McCain event?
At this late stage in the election, Republican nominee for President John McCain would undoubtedly prefer not to promote rival Barack Obama at one of his own campaign rallies.
That’s what he had to do yesterday. More than once.
State of the campaign
There’s plenty of criticism that McCain brought this on himself because of his campaign’s tenor over the last two weeks. Then there are others who believe that questions about Obama’s past dealings with questionable characters are l

Rep. Lewis clarifies controversial remarks about McCain, Palin
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Georgia Rep. John Lewis said Saturday that controversial remarks he made comparing the feeling at recent Republican rallies to those of segregationist George Wallace were misinterpreted.

FRANK RICH: MASTER OF THE MOMENT
The NY Times Opinionator writes a devastating piece about the McCain-Palin campaign’s attempts in recent weeks to ”brand [Obama] as a potential killer and an accessory to past attempts at murder.”
“By the time McCain asks the crowd ”Who is the real Barack Obama?” it’s no surprise that someone cries out ”Terrorist!” The rhetorical conflation of Obama with terrorism is complete. It is stoked further by the repeated invocation of Obama’s middle name b
McCain to Biden: Too early to celebrate
In response to a Joe Biden email telling supporters that the “McCain campaign is on the ropes,” the McCain camp responded that it is too early to celebrate.
“Being an underdog is a role that John McCain relishes and with 26 days left I don’t think Joe Biden should pop the champagne just yet,” said McCain spokesman Ben Porritt. “We are confident that as people make their decisions they will choose John McCain, a maverick with a real record over Barack Obama —an unknown comm
Clintons launch campaign swing for Obama in Pa.
AP - When Bill and Hillary Clinton take the stage Sunday at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania, it will be the launch of an active campaign for their former nemesis Barack Obama in the home stretch of the 2008 presidential race.
The nation’s best known and most powerful Democrats for nearly two decades, the former first couple is getting used to a new role: cheerleaders for Obama, who vanquished Hillary Clinton last spring in a Democratic primary contest for the ages.

Palin rally attracts monkey-doll man
A man holding what looks to be a Curious George monkey doll bearing an Obama bumper sticker around its head was caught on camera at a Gov. Sarah Palin rally today.
The CBS News "From the Road" blog was kind enough to share the video with the world.
In his posting, Scott Conroy wrote:
(PHILADELPHIA) As the crowd cheered at a Sarah Palin rally this morning in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, a man in the audience grinned as he held up a stuffed monkey doll with a Barack Obama bumper sticker wrapped across its
