Spike Lee: Spike Lee, who is fluent in Whine, is now crying to King magazine that he fears his public war of words with Clint Eastwood may have cost him an Oscar nomination. Spike should really have that foot checked out, because he seems to keep shooting it. As you may remember, Spike threw the first punch when he criticized Clint for not having African-Americans in Flags of Our Fathers and Letters From Iwo Jima. Clint then sweetly took the high road by saying that Spike should “shut his face.” And Spike, in turn, shockingly played the race card by responding “we’re not on a plantation.” Now Spike thinks the controversy that followed his remarks may have ruined his Academy Award chances for new movie “Miracle Read full story at candykirby.com

*Spike Lee tells King magazine that his chances of ever receiving an Oscar nomination may have been ruined by his public feud with Clint Eastwood earlier this year.       At the Cannes Film Festival in May, Lee called Eastwood on the carpet for the lack of African-American soldiers depicted in his World War II films "Flags of Our Fathers" and "Letters From Iwo Jima." In the war of words that ensued, Eastwood said Lee should "shut his face" – to which Lee responded "we're not on

Spike Lee jabs back at Clint Eastwood
And the war of words between Spike Lee and Clint Eastwood goes for one more round. After the 78-year-old Hollywood legend lobed a Dirty Harry-esque one-liner at the pint-sized director - telling him to "shut his face" over criticisms that no African-Americans appeared in Eastwood's drama "Flags of Our Fathers" - Lee has offered up a response. "First of all, the man is not my father and we're not on a plantation," Lee told ABCNEWS.com. "The thing about it though, I didn't personally attack him. And a c

The Man is Still Trying to Keep Spike Lee Down
Originally, when Spike Lee spoke up against the lack of black soldiers in World War II movies, igniting a feud with heavyweights the Coens and Clint Eastwood in doing so, you could almost pass it off as Lee doing what he does best — trying to get some free publicity for his own upcoming WWII movie “Miracle at St. Anna”. With the film, about four black soldiers caught behind enemy lines during the war, set for a September 28 release, Lee is once again making noise, this time bemoaning his l

Spike Lee: “Everyone’s Biracial”
“First, I go by the ‘one-drop rule,’” he said in Denver, where he has come to see firsthand his man accept the Democratic nomination for President. “One drop [of black blood], and you’re black. The truth is, every African-American is biracial. Go back far enough, and you’ll find the massah was in the slave quarters. You can’t be black and go to Harvard Law School? You can’t be black and be articulate?” Lee also “respectfully disagrees” wit

TIFF Review: Spike Lee’s Miracle At St. Anna
Spike Lee’s Miracle At St. Anna is definitely not the type of movie you want to see tired, in the early morning hours. But that was my experience. I’ve seen many World War II films over the years, and Anna is distinctly a Spike Lee Joint. It has the obvious race perspective war story you expect, mix one part combined murder mystery (which is used as a framing device), and the obtrusive bass-y grandiose score (ala Inside Man). If you’ve seen the trailer then you know that it all begins wit
