MCCAIN’S ANGRY MOB PUSHBACK, PT. 2
The other big news of the evening, besides the finding that Sarah Palin abused the power of her office in the Troopergate scandal, is that John McCain, for the first time, after a full week of media coverage, has finally weighed in on hate-filled, sometimes murderous rhetoric that has been heard at McCain-Palin campaign events this week.
I’ll have more thoughts on this over the weekend. Till then, the video — kind of a must see – of McCain asking his supporters to “be respect
McCain booed after trying to calm anti-Obama crowd
AP - The anger is getting raw at Republican rallies and John McCain is acting to tamp it down. McCain was booed by his own supporters Friday when, in an abrupt switch from raising questions about Barack Obama’s character, he described the Democrat as a "decent person and a person that you do not have to be scared of as president of the United States."
A sense of grievance spilling into rage has gripped some GOP events this week as McCain supporters see his presidential campaign lag against Obama. Som
Who's dressing as who this Halloween?
Halloween festivities are around the corner in the United States of America and reports say that Sarah Palin costumes are the hot sellers, leaving Obama and McCain masks to fill the shelves.
One costume shop owner told the Connecticut News that the announcement of Sarah Palin as a vice presidential candidate came too late for costume manufacturers to meet the high demand.
EBay is also selling masks resembling the Alaskan beauty queen and they are being snapped up for up to $US60. Even “sexy Sarah Palin
Alaska panel finds Palin abused power in firing
AP - Sarah Palin unlawfully abused her power as governor by trying to have her former brother-in-law fired as a state trooper, the chief investigator of an Alaska legislative panel concluded Friday. The politically charged inquiry imperiled her reputation as a reformer on John McCain’s Republican ticket.
Investigator Stephen Branchflower, in a report by a bipartisan panel that investigated the matter, found Palin in violation of a state ethics law that prohibits public officials from using their offi
Alaska Ethics Probe: Sarah Palin Abused Her Power
U.S. Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin abused her power as the state’s governor, according to the claim of Alaska ethics inquiry on Friday.
This claim seems to cloud over John McCain’s controversial choice of running mate for the November 4 election.
At the same time, John McCain shifted his campaign strategy. After a week in which his campaign tried in vain to seize the momentum from Democrat Barack Obama with fierce personal attacks, he adopted a conciliatory tone, callin
McCain: Obama 'decent' but 'lied'
Today, at the end of a long and tumultuous week on the campaign trail. Republican John McCain appeared to want to have it two ways with his Democratic rival, Barack Obama:
At once slamming Obama with a new TV ad connecting the Illinois senator with an old Sixties radical, a professor now in Chicago, while telling an audience that Obama is a "decent'' man.
McCain, the senior senator from Arizona, down in the polls in the closing weeks of the presidential contest, aired a new TV ad today focusing on Wil
Diddy Opens His Mouth About John McCain
Diddy decided to make a follow up to his Sarah Palin Scares Me…John McCain Scares Me Even More Than Sarah Palin. I’m not really sure what he’s trying to prove other than catching John McCain calling Barack Obama ‘that one’.
“A man that has worked hard, that has done the impossible, has fought for every amount of respect that he should deserve,” Diddy fumed. “Whether you agree with somebody or not, you are trying to be the President of the United States and you’re r

Obama wins William Buckley Jr.'s son
Little late to the party on this but it's still worth noting. Christopher Buckley, son of the late conservative writer William F. Buckley Jr. has endorsed Sen. Barack Obama.
With typical Buckleyan wit, the former Esquire editor and White House speech writer (Bush 41) makes clear he hasn't jumped ship and become a liberal. Instead his decision springs more from his disappointment with Sen. John McCain than any embrace of Obama's guiding political philosophy or agenda.
Here's an excerpt from the Daily Be

Couric Eyes Hour-Long Evening News...Every Night
Tonight, as last night, Katie Couric will anchor an hour-long Evening News. But Couric tells the New York Observer's Felix Gillette she'd like to anchor an hour every night. "I really would like more time" says Couric, "Because I think time is not our friend at the Evening News."
Couric, often the subject of news herself, transformed the campaign of John McCain, so said her colleague Bob Schieffer during coverage last night.
"Those interviews that you did with her, I mean, she made a terrible impre
Elisabeth Hasselbeck On Barack Obama Win: “Today Is A Victory For This Country”
Last night, I predicted that Elisabeth Hasselbeck would have a coronary after Barack Obama was elected President of the United States, defeating the conservative nutjob’s beloved Republican candidate John McCain in an electoral college landslide.
Well, I stand corrected. The View’s resident crybaby is actually taking the GOP’s loss in stride.
“No one lost today - and God knows I fought hard on the other side. Today is a victory for this country,” Elisabeth said on the show
News Websites Enjoy Record Traffic During Election
As expected, news websites like CNN.com, saw huge traffic spikes as large amounts of visitors logged on to follow the election last night.
Akamai Technologies, which tracks web traffic, saw a new record set across several news sites that they track with a peak number of 8.5 million users per minute. This happened at 11pm ET, which is when most outlets began calling the election in favor of Obama and McCain prepared to give his concession speech.
The previous record was set in 2006 at 7.3 million users p

An Imperial People (La Nación, Argentina)
“Our people, like so many others, did not vote yesterday. But we will be affected by what, with no regards towards us, the North American voters decided yesterday… Rather than torment the world in pursuit of imperial excesses, the new president will have to seduce it through a kind of leadership that allows him to unite people’s wills both within his country, and abroad.”

Alaska Panel finds that Sarah Palin “Unlawfully Abused Her Authority”….
Sarah Palin unlawfully abused her power as governor by trying to have her former brother-in-law fired as a state trooper. What McCain's ABBA admission says about all of us
You probably haven't seen the video of Sen. John McCain, but it exists. On Aug. 14, in front of 800 people at the Aspen Institute, a nonprofit think tank, McCain made a confession worth noting.
McCain, an invited speaker, had held forth for over an hour on the global economy, when the Institute's director and program moderator, Walter Isaacson, asked the senator a question that seemed a little silly.
The Republican presidential candidate had recently given an interv

New Palin Shopping Shocker
Good news: What has to be the juiciest story of Election 2008—the Sarah Palin shopping spree—still has legs. According to Newsweek, the spree was even larger than previously reported. Campaign aide Nicolle Wallace reportedly told Palin to buy three suits and hire a hair stylist for the convention, and was surprised when Palin instead took the family to Neiman Marcus and Saks. Another aide estimates that Palin spent tens of thousands more than previously reported, and that $20,000 to $40,000 was
Palin Mum on Future
With the McCain campaign's corpse still warm, Sarah Palin is not ready to reveal her 2012 presidential ambitions just yet. "Right now I cannot even imagine running for national office in 2012," she told CNN's Dana Bash. She also, however, absolved herself of responsibility for McCain's failure. "I don't think anybody should give Sarah Palin that much credit, that I would trump an economic time in this nation that occurred about two months ago, that my presence on the ticket would trump the economic crisis t
Punishing Joe Lieberman
With Barack Obama elected, Democrats can get down to some truly important business: punishing Joe Lieberman. CNN reports that Lieberman—who campaigned for John McCain and Sarah Palin—is scheduled to meet with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid about whether he will be stripped of his chairmanship of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. Christopher Orr at The New Republic assembles a series of Reid quotes that indicates that indicates something is about to happen. Choic
