Michael Cera Set For Sundance Splash?
Michael Cera’s rising star just won’t stop. After hits like Superbad, Juno and Nick and Norah the Canadian actor is creating buzz again with a semi-secret comedy called Paper Hearts.
Cera stars alongside real-life girlfriend Charlyne Yi (aka the stoner chick from Knocked Up) in the indie flick described as part-documentary, part scripted comedy about their real-life relationship.
Why so much talk? According to the Hollywood Reporter this could be the sleeper hit of Sundance 2009
Possible 2008 Sundance Premieres
Paper Hearts - First up is a film that almost no one has heard about until now. The feature filmmaking debut of Nicholas Jasenovec, the film is an unconventional comedy which is being described as “part-documentary, part-scripted comedy” about Michael Cera’s real-life relationship with Charlyne Yi (Knocked Up). Not much else is known about the film, but indie insiders are already predicting that it will be this year’s Sundance break out hit ala Napoleon Dynamite. [THR]

Michael Cera: when geeks get the girl
(Reuters)
Reuters - In a little more than a year, Michael Cera has built a movie career and loyal fan base playing geeky high school heroes -- zits and all -- who somehow get the girls. So it must feel good, being a sexy leading man in Hollywood -- especially when you're really kind of geeky.
Review: “Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist”
Based on the novel by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan.
The plot: Nick (Cera) and Norah (Dennings) spend an incredible chaotic but eventually magical night in New York City.
Our thoughts: Peter Sollett’s “Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist” has enough rhythm to maintain the audience’s attention for 90 minutes, but the film definitely lacks the surprise factor we’ve come to appreciate in this new genre of teenage comedies. It’s a shame, really, because the movie holds plenty of unexploited po

First Look: Michael Cera’s Youth in Revolt
FSR reader of the day (sorry everyone else, he sent us the most fun stuff today) Christopher M. hit us with a first look set of photos for Lesbian Vampire Killers earlier, satisfying the blood and bondage thirsty masses of our core audience. And while a set of photos from the set of Youth in Revolt, a comedy based on a popular novel from C.D. Payne. London film festival: reviews of Nick and Nora, Gonzo, Largo and The Brothers Bloom
First up from my fairly random selection of films screened at this year's London film festival is Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist. Could this be the first film of its kind – a Michael Cera vehicle? The Arrested Development and Superbad star reprises his role as a nerdy teenager in this by-the-numbers rom-com which, at best, plays as a watered-down Juno. Entirely predictable, though amiable enough, the movie follows one night in the lives of two American highschoolers (ably played by Cera and Kat Dennin
New York. Music. Stories.
1. Have you seen Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist yet? I love this movie so hard. Anyone who likes music and spotting New York City landmarks will enjoy this film. Oh and Michael Cera and Kat Dennings are great great, as are blond guy from Spring Awakening, and Ari Graynor who plays the most convincing drunk girl I’ve seen in a long time. Oh and some cameos from Devendra Banhart, Bishop Allen, Project Jenny Project Jan, etc etc.
Whoever did the location scouting on this movie got it RIGHT. B
Michael Cera: Hollywood's hottest awkward teen
One thing the modest, soft-spoken Cera does not pine for is celebrity, but he's got it anyway. As Hollywood's favorite awkward teen, Cera has just turned 20 with an enviable list of hits and critical favorites behind him.

Are Nick & Norah Fans Really Flocking to Veselka?
Every NYC movie/tv show can create a new pop culture landmark and tourist destination. Serious Eats points out that When Harry Met Sally had Katz's and Sex and the City had Magnolia, and now Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist has staked a claim on Veselka. Owner Tom Birchard told SE that they were "slammed all weekend" with folks allegedly wanting to recreate the scene where Michael Cera and Kat Dennings enjoy some pierogies at the 24-hour eatery (the address is even given in the dialogue). No word on if Arle

Michael Cera Making the Documentary No One Asked For
Are you guys psyched about Paper Hearts, the new sem-autobiographical documentary about Juno star Michael Cera and his Asian girlfriend Charlyne Yi? No? Perhaps that's because you haven't heard of the feature, which is being kept semi-secret in Hollywood, despite strong interest from investors hoping to cash in Cera's star before he starts growing hair in weird places and becomes unmarketable to the tween demographic.
And while we want to have high hopes for the film, which will premiere at
An Arbitrary Guide To This Weekend’s New Releases
If you’ve found yourself skimming the movie listings these past few weeks to no avail, well, get ready, because there’s a whole lot of new blood coming in. This weekend sees 7, that’s right, 7 wide releases, which is sure to result in a major shakeup in the weekend Top Ten and give holdovers just hanging in there on the bottom 5 some serious reason to be worried.
Depressingly, Beverly Hills Chihuahua is likely to snag the #1 spot - because if there’s one thing we’ve learned it’s that idiots (an
Cera's Got A Secret
You wouldn't think that a high-profile young star could be making a movie that practically no one in Hollywood has heard about. But that's the case with Michael Cera and Paper Hearts.
The star of Superbad and Juno has been quietly shooting the semi-documentary look at his life with girlfriend Charylne Yi, who played a pothead in Knocked Up.
The film is being directed by newcomer Nicholas Jasenovec.
No release date has been set for the comedy.

Michael Cera's turning geekdom into gold
Move over dark-haired dreamboats - these days Hollywood is all about revenge of the nerds. And right now, Michael Cera is the awkward teen of the moment.
Thanks to back-to-back critical successes, "Superbad" and "Juno," which grossed over $100 million each, Cera is now at the center of the Hollywood limelight - and on plenty of dorm room posters too.

Jeffrey Tambor On “Arrested Development” Movie: “It’s a Go.”
Last winter, Jeffrey Tambor, the actor who played the scheming patriarch in Fox’s brilliant, underwatched and now-cancelled Arrested Development appeared on The Ron & Fez Show on XM radio, saying that there was a “real push” to get a movie version of the TV series made. Then this summer, lead actor Jason Bateman also seemed to confirmed that the wheels were in motion for the a film version of Arrested. A hefty container of water was thrown on the fire last month when Michael Cera disav
Which 'Arrested Development' Star Is Ready To Ditch Michael Cera? [Defamer Blind Items]
E!'s Kristin Dos Santos brings us more news on the suddenly snowballing Arrested Development movie, including the new information that the film is budgeted at $15 million (around what we'd estimate the theatrical ceiling is for this property, though homevid sales should be killer). However, her most interesting tidbit, divulged to her by a principal cast member wishing to remain anonymous, is what the reaction is to someone (cough Michael Cera cough) who's not so keen on the big screen transfer:

Ben Folds: Genius Or Schtickmeister? [The Last Word]
Our look at the closing lines of the biggest new-music reviews continues with a roundup of reactions to Way To Normal, the new album by ivory-tinkling ironist and Nick Hornby collaborator Ben Folds:
• "Maybe the tumble in Japan jarred something loose in Folds’ fecund brain. This is the first album where his artistry seems fully realized, both in terms of subject matter and performance. Witty, balanced and highly charged." [Paste]
• "It would be fitting if Folds never found his way to no
