McCain-Palin must lay out economic plan, Obama strategist says
Sarah Palin gave a great speech. It excited a hall of GOP delegates. But it had an angry tone that won’t play well with swing voters. And it didn’t provide any details about what she – or John McCain – would do to try to fix America’s economic troubles.
That’s what Robert Gibbs, a senior adviser to the Barack Obama campaign, says, anway. He’s in the Twin Cities to watch his opposition’s convention close up and was the guest at a Monitor luncheon on Thursday.
“I think [Alaska Governor
John McCain Will Sue The National Enquirer
The National Enquirer ran a story alleging that Sarah Palin had an affair with the business partner of her husband’s. McCain’s campaign released the statement:
“The smearing of the Palin family must end. The allegations contained on the cover of the National Enquirer insinuating that Governor Palin had an extramarital affair are categorically false. It is a vicious lie.”

Leave Bristol Palin Alone
On Sunday, our tip line got more e-mails on the “OMG, Sarah Palin is actually her infant son’s grandma!” conspiracy theory than anything else in the short history of Deceiver. I don’t know if it was part of a concerted effort or just a coincidence, but a lot of people seemed to think there was something to it. So, since I’m now the “Writes about pregnant women in political stories” guy around here, I looked into it.
And it was completely, insultingly ridiculous.
Sarah Palin's Speech: Full Of LIES!
The Associated Press closely watched Governor Sarah Palin, the GOP's VP pick, at last night's RNC convention and has outlined the many ways she exaggerated and lied.
Right or Left, a lie is a lie. It doesn't matter where on the political spectrum you are, right?
These are not 'personal' digs, mind you.
She's lying on the 'professional' stage, y'all.
Check out Pinocchio Palin's claims and the truth:

McCain, Obama to Appear at Columbia on 9/11
Columbia University president Lee Bollinger confirmed that presidential candidates John McCain and Barack Obama will appear together at the university for a forum sponsored by ServiceNation. The Columbia Spectator describes ServiceNation as a "non-partisan coalition devoted to increasing the commitment of citizens to public service to 100 million people by 2010."
The forum will be on September 11 evening (it is not a debate), and the candidates agreed not to campaign that day out of respect for 9/11 vict
Ron Fournier's Brand of Associated Press Coverage: Bash Obama, Praise McCain
'An Associated Press analysis of Barack Obama's widely praised (across the political spectrum) speech last Thursday drew much criticism from liberals and media critics last week for its dour tone. Would the AP offer the same kind of muted response to Sarah Palin's big address on Wednesday night? Not exactly. The article by Tom Raum and Liz Sidoti opened: "Sarah Palin delivered. An embattled vice presidential candidate, a novice on the national stage, the head of a family suffering its
Next test for McCain and Palin: winning undecideds
A series of forceful speeches at the Republican National Convention this week – particularly Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s roof raiser Wednesday – turbocharged GOP activists searching a gloomy political landscape for something to feel good about.
But the 8-1/2 weeks until Election Day will bring the real test: convincing enough undecided voters, many only now tuning into the race, that John McCain should be president.
That fight, political analysts say, will turn in large measure on Senator McCain’s a
Mitt Romney Will NOT Be John McCain’s VP Pick

NBC News just announced that Mitt Romney will not be John McCain’s VP candidate.

SHOCKER! Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is John McCain’s VP Pick
Senator John McCain has chosen Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska as his running mate today, shaking up the political world with a surprise pick at a time when his campaign has been trying to attract women, especially disaffected supporters of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, reports the New York Times.
In choosing Ms. Palin — a 44-year-old conservative Christian and self-described “hockey mom” who has been governor for less than two years — the McCain campaign reached far outside the Beltway in an election
John McCain Picks Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as Running Mate
The 44-year-old -- who was elected governor just two years ago after serving as mayor of Wasilla (pop. 6,715) -- will be the first woman nominated by the Republican Party to run on a national ticket.
McCain, who turns 72-years-old Friday, and Palin are expected to make the announcement official at a rally at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.

Liveblogging Mitt ‘Mittens’ Romney’s 2012 Campaign Launch
Our best friend Mittens Romney must be so relieved that the old coot called him with a “no” for veep this year. Who’d want to be on the losingest loser ticket ever, in 2008? Sarah Palin would, sooo… yeah. Anyway, let’s see what Mitt Romney has to say and his Kumming & Going in his famously magical underpants, in Minnesota. We bet that he’ll LIE a few times, hmm?

Oprah! In final talks! To be on 30 Rock! She'll play herself in scenes with Tina Fey's character Liz Lemon. Will Arnett and Jennifer Aniston are also making appearances on the show this fall. The bad news? The season premiere doesn't air until October 30. [E!]Paris Hilton has "manipulated" the Toronto Film Festival to get more publicity for a documentary about herself. There were three screenings of the film Paris, Not France; now there is only one, because that Will "create more buzz." Hasn't her moment in
Levi Johnston Has Bristol Palin Wrapped Around His Finger
And that finger was probably in her during her mother Sarah Palin's dumbass speech at the RNC. Levi Johnston, aka "F*cking Redneck", is the Alaskan mountainteen that knocked up the potential vice-president's daughter Bristol Palin. To show his devotion to her, he has her name tattooed around his ring finger. That's wicked sweet. How did he get past security? Where does the Alaskan governor live anyway? In a ice fishing shack in Anchorage?Bristol is also apparently wearing an engagement ring. Levi flew to M
Another Big Difference Between the Edwards Story and the Palin Story
“The smearing of the Palin family must end. The allegations contained on the cover of the National Enquirer insinuating that Gov. Palin had an extramarital affair are categorically false. It is a vicious lie,” said McCain senior adviser Steve Schmidt.

Lesbian Scientistics: TV Characters on the issues
Last week, when Republican presidential nominee John McCain named Sarah Palin as his running mate, reporters and bloggers immediately began calling the Alaskan governor a Tina Fey look-alike. Just the mention of Fey in relation to the White House sent millions of people into fantasy overload as they began pondering what Fey's 30 Rock character, Liz Lemon, would make of being America's vice president.
Fantasizing about a fictional character as vice president is ridiculous, of course. If you're going to f
Back In Bounds? McCain Team at CNN Grill
The CNN Grill has been quite the place for the last couple weeks. You could find big name celebs, grab a free meal from a well-known chef or break into a spontaneous dance party.
It can even bring Sen. John McCain spokesperson Tucker Bounds to call CNN, "top-notch."
Remember Bounds? More than 500,000 people on YouTube have seen his on-air showdown with Campbell Brown from earlier this week, which led to the cancellation of a Larry King Live interview for the candidate.
But it appears things hav
I miss the media-friendly John McCain - VIDEOS
Filed under: News, OpEd, Saturday Night Live, Video, The Daily Show, Reality-FreeOn the eve of John McCain's speech to the RNC tonight, the New York Times has an article about how the Arizona senator has gone on the attack against the news media, who at one time he openly courted. For example, he threw a birthday party for himself at the 2004 RNC, which was attended by a number of members of the media elite.
But I don't care about how McCain treated the news media then compared to what he does now (well, I
