Quentin Tarantino: Filed under: Action, New Releases, New in Theaters, Quentin Tarantino, Cinematical Indie, WesternBy chance, two Takashi Miike movies, Dead or Alive and Audition, opened in my town with in a week of one another in 2001. It was pretty eye opening seeing the huge difference between them, the speedy carnage of the former and the slow suspense of the latter, and I became an instant fan. Since then I've managed to track down just six more Miike movies, and in that same time he has made over forty (including videos and TV shows). The speed of his production fits perfectly with the personality of his movies. They're often nonsensical; I couldn't make heads or tails of two of his more recent pictures, Gozu and The Great Yokai War. And they're very d

The "Pulp Fiction" helmer and Harvey Weinstein met with five studios last week about co-financing the film, and it came down to Paramount and Universal. Par, which wanted to distribute the film in foreign territories, balked at a compone

Uma Thurman Reveals The Animated Future of ‘Kill Bill’
Two years ago Quentin Tarantino piqued the interest of film fans everywhere when he promised two new anime companion films to “Kill Bill,” one supposedly about the origin of The Bride and the other about Bill himself. We don’t know what’s happened to the story of The Bride, but the other animated film is going to blow you away, insisted star Uma Thurman. “His anime stuff is strong,” she smiled. We say we don’t know what happened to the story of the Bride, by the way, because Thurman c

SIMON’S BLOG: Bad news.
Much to our mutual disappointment, I won't be appearing in QT's forthcoming Inglorious Bastards due to insurmountable scheduling difficulties. We really tried to make it work but in the end, it just was not possible without severe ramifications elsewhere. I'm trying to remain upbeat, as Tom Selleck said "Who the hell is Indiana Jones anyway?"Sx

B.J. Novak lines up 'Bastards'
B.J. Novak could soon be going from pushing paper to fighting Nazis. "The Office" star is in talks to play one of the soldiers in "Inglorious Bastards," Quentin Tarantino's long-gestating film about a band of Jewish resisters in Vichy-era France. Novak is expected to play PFC Utivich, described as a soldier of slight build who comes from New York.

Mike Myers enlists in 'Bastards'
Tarantino recruits actor to play British general Mike Myers has been recruited by Quentin Tarantino to join the ensemble cast of "Inglorious Bastards," the Tarantino-scripted pic that the Weinstein Co. and Universal will put into production Oct. 13 in Germany. Myers will play British Gen. Ed Fenech, a military mastermind who takes part in hatching a plot to wipe out Nazi leaders. Brad Pitt recently committed to star in the film, along with Eli Roth, and Tarantino is also courting Simon Pegg, Nastassj

Brad Pitt is officially a 'Bastard'
Brad Pitt has closed his deal to star in "Inglorious Bastards," the WWII drama that Quentin Tarantino will direct for the Weinstein Co. and Universal. Additionally, Nastassja Kinski is in early talks to play one of the sole female roles in the film. Casting the German-born actress jibes with Tarantino's habit of resuscitating dormant careers. Kinski, who has stayed away from mainstream American films for nearly a decade, would play a German movie queen. Much of the pic's dialogue is in French or Germa

Brad Pitt Confirmed for Tarantino's "Inglorious Bastards"
Entertainment Weekly has received confirmation from Brad Pitt's representatives that Pitt will star in the upcoming Quentin Tarantino-directed WWII project, entitled "Inglorious Bastards." Pitt will play Lieutenant Aldo Raine. After three weeks of very public negotiations, sources say the movie will land at Universal Pictures. Eli Roth is a bastard, Leo DiCaprio isn't
Variety reports that Hostel director Eli Roth has signed on to act in Quentin Tarantino's upcoming WWII era flick "inglorious bastards", and the actor/director confirmed it this morning in his official blog in a, well inglorious fashion (follow the link to see what we mean.) The highly anticipated film is reportedly looking to feature an all star cast, with Quentin reaching out to Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt for other rolls. Word is, however, that Mr. Roth might be taking Leo's spot in the film, le

Is Corey Feldman One of the Inglorious Bastards?
Quentin has made no qualms about being a longtime fan of The Two Coreys (even naming the Gecko Brothers in From Dusk Till Dawn as an homage to the Frog Brothers). Well, we recently learned from a source close to his latest upcoming project that Quentin Tarantino is, in fact, looking to cast Corey Feldman as one of the Jewish soldiers in his upcoming Word War II epic Inglorious Bastards. While this is of course still in the rumor stages, it makes perfect sense. Tarantino has in the past alluded to wantin

Unfortunate Inglorious Bastards casting news.
Quentin Tarantino turned John Travolta's entire career around with a memorable role in "Pulp Fiction," and now he's lending a similar hand to Mike Myers. According to Variety, the comedian who packed them in with the "Austin Powers" series and is the voice of the world famous green ogre "Shrek," is set to join the cast of the director's WWII thriller, "Inglorious Bastards." No, this isn't some bizarre revamp of Myers character Fat Bastard from the "Powers" films. Instead, Tarantino's long-await

He was speaking at the Provincetown Film Festival - where he received a special Filmmaker on the Edge awa

Abbie Cornish replaces Natalie Portman in Wuthering Heights
She has garnered more publicity for cavorting with Reese Witherspoon's ex-husband Ryan Phillipe lately, but it seems Abbie Cornish is about to dust off her acting skills for a part in the screen adaptation of Emily Bronte's Gothic bodice-ripper Wuthering Heights. Following on from her upcoming role as John Keats's love interest, Fanny Brawne, in Jane Campion's Bright Star, the Australian actress, whose film credits include Somersault, Candy and Stop-Loss, has reportedly won the role of Cathy, Heathcliff'

Fergie and Quentin Tarantino celebrated their birthdays with a joint bash last night in Las Vegas. “We wanted to do something that was crazy and a lot of fun,” she told Usmagazine.com. The pair — who filmed a hot and heavy love scene in Tarantino's 2007 flick Grindhouse — spent the afternoon with friends at the Mirage Hotel’s Bare Pool Lounge. Fergie (who turned 33) and Tarantino (who turned 45) caught the 7 p.m. performance of Cirque du Soleil's Beatle-themed show "LOVE." (They devoured

Simon Pegg pulls out of Tarantino's latest
Simon Pegg has bowed out of Quentin Tarantino's forthcoming second world war romp Inglorious Bastards due to scheduling conflicts, the actor has reluctantly revealed on his blog. "Much to our mutual disappointment, I won't be appearing in QT's forthcoming Inglorious Bastards", wrote Pegg, who had been lined up to play Lieutenant Hicox, a British soldier. "We really tried to make it work but in the end, it just was not possible without severe ramifications elsewhere." Pegg also announced via his blog t

Britney Spears to play lesbian killer in Quentin Tarantino film
The singer was apparently chosen by the Pulp Fiction director to play dancer Varla in a remake of the 1965 cult film Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill! The movie sees three thrill-seeking strippers encountering a young couple in the desert. Spears' character murders the boyfriend with her bare hands before taking the girlfriend hostage. The troubled singer will also have sex scenes with another girl before the drama ends in a blood-bath. Tarantino is in discussions with other Hollywood stars to take th
