Rep. Lewis clarifies controversial remarks about McCain, Palin

www.mashget.com - 12th Oct 2008

John McCain: WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Georgia Rep. John Lewis said Saturday that controversial remarks he made comparing the feeling at recent Republican rallies to those of segregationist George Wallace were misinterpreted. Rep. John Lewis, D-Georgia, and Sen. John McCain traded tough statements Saturday. The civil rights icon issued a statement Saturday evening which said a "careful review" of his remarks made earlier in the day "would reveal that I did not compare Sen. John McCain or Gov. Sarah Palin to George Wallace." McCain said Lewis’ earlier statement was "a brazen and baseless attack" and called on Sen. Barack Obama to repudiate it. Lewis had said earlier that he was "deeply disturbed by the negative Read full story at www.mashget.com

McCain to Rectify Letterman Rejection
In what was a costly PR error in someone’s strategy judgment John McCain ditched the David Letterman show last minute a few weeks ago claiming that he was on his way to sort out the country’s financial crisis.  This advice had to have come from a rookie strategist because anyone with any sense would know the outcome given that David Letterman is a very sharp comedian who isn’t that fond of the Republican party, especially its current President, as it is.  Surely someone in the McCain camp has been w

John McCain’s Awesome Do-Over Speech
Walnuts is re-launching his campaign for the millionth time, hurrah! Today he unveils a new speech, full of humor and zest and “my friends” and transparent falsehoods like, “we’ve got them just where we want them,” because yes, six months ago if you had asked John McCain where he wanted to be 21 days from the election, he would have said, “Down 10 points nationally and fighting to keep Virginia and North Carolina in the red column.” A tantalizing sample of John McC

So here’s the thing: we have the Branchflower report.  The whole world has the Branchflower report.  The findings are spelled out as clear as can be.   How then does Gov. Palin think she can get away with telling straight up lies about what the report actually says?  ABC News: “Palin Makes Troopergate Assertions that Are Flatly False.” At one point this weekend Palin said: “Well, I’m very very pleased to be cleared of any legal wrongdoing,” Palin said, R

Senator John McCain has agreed to appear on David Letterman’s “Late Show” on CBS, according to the show’s Web site.

McCain’s Tour of Contrition
As John McCain trails Obama in the polls, he’s crawling back to David Letterman to apologize for standing him up to go save the world do an interview with Katie Couric. As you’ll recall, Letterman tore him a new asshole on national television for that little stunt. McCain is scheduled to appear on the program on Thursday. Should be interesting. I don’t usually chat about politics
But this video really got under my skin. I have not talked about my particular vote in this election or who I believe or don’t believe. I post little random tidbits because quite frankly I feel everyone should be allowed to vote for who they think would do the best job possible. But then I see a video like this and it really disturbs me. No wonder our Country can not move forward because a lot of people are still living in the past. I feel very strongly that if we don’t learn from the past

Obama, flush with cash, buys up primetime network TV
Well it looks like Barack Obama can have the stage all to himself after all — and he doesn’t need John McCain to suspend his campaign to do it. McCain Reschedules Letterman; Obama Receives Network Bargain
So let's see if David Letterman will ease up on John McCain now that the Republican presidential candidate is slated to appear Thursday on The Late Show. I think Dave and his writers are right now making plans to further ridicule the guy. Dave's been merciless ever since McCain angered Letterman by cancelling at the last minute September 24th over the economic crisis, claiming that he was heading to Washington DC that second, and then sitting for a NYC interview with Katie Couric instead. Letterman/McCain Smackdown is ON, Definitely Maybe
Riff is going to the dance to make nice with Bernardo, so this Thursday America will be able to witness the ultimate mambo as John McCain makes his long-awaited appearance (probably) on The Late Show with David Letterman. Unless he backs out again, of course. The question is: Will Letterman take the Bill O'Reilly route and go all soft and sweet once he has his opponent in the chair? Or will he continue to berate McCain and hope the audience he's already lost during the debacle is less than the n
