Michael Caine: Why oh why does MGM want to remake this comedy classic that starred Michael Caine and Steve Martin? If you have not seen ‘Dirty Rotten Scoundrels’ yet it is a must watch. It is comedic genius. The film was directed by Frank Oz in 1988. of course that was a remake of a 1964 film called ‘Bedtime Story’ with Marlon Brando. The 80’s film was much better. But I seriously doubt Steve Pink the writer and director of ‘Accepted’ has got the comedic skills to make this movie. ‘Accepted’ sucked. Here is what he tells THR: “Movies like that, which are so brilliant, the problem with writing them is a) you have to beat those jokes, and it’s hard, and b), they’re so funny that they Read full story at www.geektyrant.com

In 2005, the film was adapted into a Broadway musical starring John Lithgow. No actors have been cast but top-level talent is said to be interested. Cabin Man: Why Chris Elliott May Be His Generation’s Most Underappreciated Comic Genius
Chris Elliott went from NBC gofer to semi-fame as a juvenile oddball on Letterman, but never tasted true Hollywood glory. Frank DiGiacomo profiles the misunderstood funnyman in our new comedy issue — looking back at such classic Elliott guises as his Morton Downey Jr. character and Marlon Brando — and explores why the former Get a Life star may be his generation’s most underappreciated comic genius. Obama: Godfather, McCain: Viva Zapata
by Mark Silva Barack Obama does Marlon Brando. But in the end, he displays a soft spot for Humphrey Bogart. And John McCain goes with a Brando film. The question came up when CBS Evening News anchor Katie Couric asked the nominees for president to name their favorite movies. In the responses, broadcast this evening, Obama broke into a hoarse-throated Godfather imitation: "You disrespected me. You know and now you want a favor.'' And McCain explained...

Film Review: Righteous Kill
For any fans of American cinema from the last forty years, there are three principle giants of the screen: Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Jack Nicholson. These three, all emerging around the same time at the end of the Sixties and start of the Seventies, ushered in a new era of gritty, rough cinematic realism – albeit building on the work of the likes of Marlon Brando, James Dean and their fellow method actors from the Fifties. But unlike Brando and co they were given an added freedom by the concurrent ris

On capturing stars' spontaneity
Marlon Brando knocked out his teeth. Jackie Onassis took him to court. You know his photos even if you don't know his name. He has photographed Elizabeth Taylor, Robert Redford, Frank Sinatra and Dustin Hoffman and countless other stars in unguarded moments. He is Ron Galella, the grandfather of paparazzi, a self-described "artist with a camera" and his work is the subject of an exhibit at the Roots flagship store. I asked him to pick one image that, to him, represents his remarkable career. &q

Dane Cook Fights Eviction with Ol’“I Need Belushi’s Ghost!” Defense
If there’s one thing I love more than waiters who take my drink before it’s finished, it’s people who don’t pick up after their dogs.  So imagine my delight when I heard “comedian” Dane Cook is actually being evicted from his apartment building because of repeated dog doo-doo offenses — and, even better, Dane is arguing that he can’t possibly leave because his career is dependent on the spirits of John Belushi and Steve Martin that live in the building. Oh,

Dog Poop Lawsuit, Settled! Yesterday, we ... [Dane Cook]
Dog Poop Lawsuit, Settled! Yesterday, we brought you the news that comedian Dane Cook was refusing to vacate the apartment he was evicted from, claiming that if he moved out, he would lose the spiritual influence of former tenants John Belushi and Steve Martin forever. Perhaps sensing that his argument was flimsier than the plot of My Best Friend's Girl (though more original), Cook's lawyers have now appeared in court to state that Cook has abandoned his appeal. He also has agreed to pay his landlord an und

Dane Cook Gives Up Old Apartment, Belushi’s Ghost
Dane Cook has abandoned an attempt to keep his apartment of ten years, despite moaning that the pad, once rented by John Belushi and Steve Martin, is his creative muse as well as the place he keeps a dog that no one cleans up after. According to TMZ, Cook will still pay a couple tens of Gs in shit-related damages despite losing his claim. Softening the blow is the fact that Dane Cook still owns a home worth $7 million. “The new place is perfect,” said Dane’s dog, “perfect…for m

Dane Cook: Full Of Dog Shit
It looks like it's going to be another dog caca-filled week here on Dlisted. That's pretty appropriate, actually. Anyfeces, a judge in Los Angeles has evicted Dane Cook from his apartment, because he won't pick up after his dog's shitty ass even though his neighbor's filed several complaints. Dane is appealing the judge's decision and claims that if he leaves that apartment, he will suffer emotional distress and his career will tank. You see, Dane said he only lives there, because John Belushi and Steve Ma

Ricky Gervais for Oscars Host!
Sure, it’s meaningless Internets gossip, but look where that got Sarah Palin! NY Observer man Christopher Rosen suggests, out of nowhere, that Ricky Gervais was so hilarious on the otherwise frightful anti-entertainment known as the Emmy Awards on Sunday night that he should be Oscar host next February. Why the hell not? Jon Stewart has been a bust and everyone’s sick of Whoopi. Steve Martin was great but is he interested? Gervais could be just the man to make the Oscars fun again.
