Pick 2008's Worst Movies
Every year as Golden Globes are shined and Oscars are polished, there is one award that no celebrity is interested in receiving: The Golden Razzie, which goes to the year's worst movies and actors. Actually, I shouldn't say "no celebrity" since in 2005 Halle Berry awesomely ascended the stage to claim her worst actress prize for "Catwoman" - check out this clip of her reflecting on the moment.
Anyhoo, this year's nominees have been released and, per usual, the choices are pretty spot on, although, Reese
2008 Razzie Nominating Ballot Calls Into Question Seriousness of Awards
The esteemed membership of the Razzie voting committee received their 2008 nominating ballots in the mail yesterday afternoon — and controversy abounds! While the official list of nominees for the year's worst movies and acting won't be released until January 21, the names on the ballot from which serious-minded voters are expected to choose are laughable at best.Never mind egregious omissions like Seven Pounds, the winner of Vulture's Critics' Poll for 2008's crappiest film, and The Spirit, which las
2008 Razzies Nominations Announced
I’m not a hige fan of the Academy Awards or any of those serious awards ceremonies if I’m honest. I know that’s probably not a good career move as a movie blogger but it’s the truth so what the hell. I just can’t get excited about giving awards to actors who have already been paid a huge amount of money to Star in the movies. It’s like they need even more praise and reward than they already get just for being a celebrity.
So what I prefer is those spoof awards ceremonie
Razzie Nominations Serve A Shocking Snub To 'The Spirit' [Snubs]
newVideoPlayer("/spirit_consid.flv", 506, 423,""); We've just had a look at the official nomination ballot for the Razzies, and we're still reeling from the unexpected shutout of frontrunner The Spirit. We'd had high expectations that no film could surpass The Spirit's unimpeachable Razzie campaign, which featured a 15% fresh Tomatometer rating, a viral "For Your Consideration" ad, and Samuel L. Jackson in a series of fur coats and Nazi costumes. And yet! MTV writer Larry Carroll got his hands on the offici
The Spirit Misses Razzie Nomination By A Hair [Razzies]
The nominations for all of the worst movies of 2008 are out. And lucky, lucky Frank Miller missed the nominations for the worst movie in the history in the world by a few days.Unfortunately, The Spirit came out too late to make the Razzie nomination ballot, according to the site:ALTHOUGH IT FLOPPED TOO LATE to MAKE OUR NOMINATING BALLOT, WE THOUGHT ITS UNDER ACHIEVEMENTS EARNED IT a PLACE on OUR FORUM. Frank Miller is a lucky man, but I'm not going to forget the sins this movie committed that easily. See yo

MSN produces surpringly somewhat accurate list on the year 2008
Maybe 2007 left us spoiled. With future classics like "Zodiac," "No Country for Old Men" and "There Will Be Blood" gracing our screens, 2008, so far, feels a little less ... significant. But that was on first glimpse; now that we've dug in and really looked back through the entire year, we can safely say (and the year's not over yet) that 2008 has been interesting, unexpected -- especially when it comes to performers.Comedians who are usually funny, like Mike Myers and Will Ferrell, were outshined by actors

Vulture’s Critics’ Poll: The Complete Ballots
Ballots for the Vulture critics' poll were collected in three ways. Many critics responded to our requests with lists of their worst movies of the year. Many other critics had already published such lists. Finally, for critics who did not respond telling us they did not want to participate, or were unreachable, we combed through their 2008 reviews to find their most memorable pan.Every mention of a film earned that film one point, with a bonus point awarded if a critic named the film the absolute worst of t
Defamer Talks To The Razzies Founder About The Shocking 'Spirit' Snub [Defamer Interviews]
How, we wondered yesterday, could the Razzies have overlooked the tailor-made star bombThe Spirit for inclusion on their annual dishonor roll of nominees? We went straight to Razzies founder John Wilson for the scoop.DEFAMER: So the nominees that emerged yesterday weren't official yet? JOHN: What happened is we have press members on our mailing list, and this guy Larry Carroll from MTV's Movie Blog apparently misunderstood and thought that was a final list. And it kind of went viral for us.So what was it, i
The 2008 Razzie Nominations: Worst of the year in film
The 2008 Razzie Award nominations have been released, chronicling the year’s worst films and performances. There were so many stinkers to choose from - I’d bet it’s harder to pick the nominees for this than it is the Oscars and Golden Globes. This year’s big “winners” include the movie Speed Racer, which has topped many critics’ “Worst” lists, while frontrunners for worst actor/actress include Dane Cook, Larry the Cable Guy, Cameron Diaz and...

'Marley & Me' Wins Again, 'Button' In Third

Box Office: Audiences Still Lovin' Marley
After breaking Christmastime records last week, audiences once again put the adorably naughty pup in the top spot at the box office over the weekend. Marley & Me, starring Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson, earned an estimated $24 million "for a cume of $106.5 million in only 11 days."
In second place came Adam Sandler's Bedtime Stories followed by The Curious Case of Benjamin Button in third, Valkyrie in fourth and Yes Man in fifth.

The goddamn Batman is out dazzled by Edward Cullen
With a $167.3 million overall domestic take as Sunday, per Box Office Mojo, Twilight made more than four times its reported $37 million production budget—the best rate of return on any film in the 2008 Top 10, including The Dark Knight. The Batman epic was a pretty good investment, too, very nearly tripling its gargantuan $185 million budget with a $530.8 million domestic take, Hollywood's second-biggest ever.Still, The Dark Knight was nothing compared to these off-the-charts performers: High School Musica
Dane Cook Has the Worst Brother of 2008
Well, they do say that you can’t choose your family. And in Dane Cook’s case, that really sucks.
According to E!:
Cook’s brother, Darryl McCauley, is set to be arraigned Wednesday morning on larceny and forgery charges for allegedly stealing millions from his little bro between July 2007 and December 2008.
McCauley was arrested Tuesday by Massachusetts State Police after a two-week investigation, according to the Boston Herald.

The Results Are In: The Worst Movie of 2008
Oh, Paris Hilton: What would we do without you on Giggle? The readers have voted, and your big movie project this year also happens to be our worst movie of 2008. That would be The Hottie and the Nottie, which has a tagline that incorporates your personal catchphrase: "That's Hot."
Hottie was a clear first-place winner with 43 percent of the votes, but Mike Myers's The Love Guru also had a (dis)respectable showing.

The People Have Chosen The Dark Knight
Last night at The People's Choice Awards the fans picked Adam, Reese, Robin, Carrie, Ellen, The Dark Knight and more. The stars thanked the fans since if it wasn't for them, well, they wouldn't have that heavy award. Ellen thanked her roommate Portia, and Reese was thrilled with how her year was starting. Dakota Fanning continues to glow as she grows so perfectly. Kate Hudson was late but she made it in time to pick up her Favorite Leading Lady Award and in her quirky speech she thanked birthday boy Ryde
10 Underrated Films From 2008
2008 is obviously still on the brain and at Will be at least for the next week if not longer. Here's seven films we thought were grossly underrated. We were going to title this the 10 Most Underrated Films of 2008, but someone would have surely balked, only because we haven't posted our top 20 list yet. These were definitely under-appreciated in our book though."In Bruges"Colin Farell and Brendan Gleeson starred as contract killers sent to the medieval Belgian city of Bruges after a botched hit at the behe
Which Summer Movies Did The Writers' Strike Hit Hardest? [Movies]
Last year, Hollywood's writers went on strike for 14 weeks, and genre television took tremendous damage as a result. But movies didn't emerge unscathed, either — we just won't see the fallout until this year. When the studios decided to wait out the striking writers, they put a lot of big genre TV shows in jeopardy. Some emerged almost unscathed — Lost was able to go back and finish its fourth season — but several others took major damage. For example, Heroes had to end its second season early, leaving
The Playlist's Worst Films Of 2008
Culture keeps dumbing down and aiming more and more for the crotch of the lowest common denominator, right? Big fucking surprise. Obviously it's because the bleating sheep of society are by and large an incredibly stupid herd and 2008 didn't disappoint the ham and eggers/joe jobbers who love a base blow 'em up spectacle, a painfully unfunny comedy, or a special effects laden disaster with no story. The more basic, the better. Without further ado, the WORST films of 2008 as picked by The Playlist members. If

Well folks, the time has finally come to vent. It’s one of my favorite days of the year, as my Razzie ballot just arrived in the mail. Here’s your chance to help me vote! Below are the newly-released nominations for the 29th Annual Razzie awards
