Queen Latifah: How's this for hip-hop royalty news: None other than Queen Latifah is set to release a new album in December — and she actually raps on it. After focusing on acting (and garnering an Oscar nomination for her efforts in 2002's Chicago) and releasing two well-received collections of pop standards (2004's The Dana Owens Album and 2007's Trav'lin' Light) it seems that the Queen is ready to get back in the game for the first time in more than a decade. (Yes, Order in the Court came out in the summer of 1998!) Queen Latifah grew up in Newark, N.J., and got into hip-hop as a teenager, beat boxing with the group Ladies Fresh. She went on to emcee with Flavor Unit, through which DJ Mark the 45 King heard her song "Princess of the Posse." Read full story at www.afterellen.com

Queen Latifah To Spoof VP Debate On Saturday Night Live?
We don't know if Tina Fey will be back on Saturday Night Live this weekend as Sarah Palin, but if the show indeed spoofs tonight's vice presidential debate, at least one impersonator appears to be confirmed: Queen Latifah as moderator Gwen Ifill. Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello is reporting that Latifah has signed on to play Ifill on this week's SNL if the show goes ahead with a debate sketch. It would seem like a no-brainer until you actually watched the debate, which would be best described as "a

Queen Latifah: "I Don't Care If People Think I'm Gay"
"I don't have a problem discussing the topic of somebody being gay, but I do have a problem discussing my personal life," Latifah, 38, told Sunday's New York Times magazine. "You don't get that part of me. Sorry," she added. "We’re not discussing it in our meetings, we’re not discussing it at Cover Girl...nobody gets that. "I don't feel like I need to share my personal life, and I don't care if people think I'm gay or not," she said. "Assume whatever you want. You do it anyway." Latifah had been li

Video: Queen Latifah As Gwen Ifill on SNL
This weekend, SNL continued its parodies of Republican vp candidate Sarah Palin and the vice-presidential debate. Queen Latifah did a great imitation of moderator Gwen Ifill, who’s writing a book about Sen. Barack Obama. SNL regular Tina Fey gave her usual dead-on impression of the Alaska Governor. And Sen. Joe Biden was played by SNL regular Jason Sudeikis.   Posted in Barack Obama, Politics, TV/radio, video . You can follow any responses to this ent

Queen Latifah Talks Weight Loss
When Queen Latifah signed on to be the new celebrity face of Jenny Craig, she wanted to lose weight, but mostly she was just looking to get healthier. She set a goal for herself to lose 5 to 10 percent of her body weight and keep it off. "For me, it's not about a body image thing. I feel pretty confident. I do realize I'm a role model to a lot of people, and I've been a role model for confidence. I feel being a healthier person is a good thing. If I can set the example for confidence on the inside,

'SNL' Sends Up VP Debate With Fey, Queen Latifah
NEW YORK (AP) - It's starting to feel like Tina Fey is running for vice president. Fey again returned to "Saturday Night Live" to play Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin as the sketch comedy show continued to pull out all the stops in its election year season. Queen Latifah dropped by to portray Thursday's debate moderator, PBS's Gwen Ifill, and cast member Jason Sudeikis stepped into the role of Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden. The "SNL" take on the week's political event

SNL skewers Palin and Biden's vice-presidential debate answers to gay question
While Tina Fey's third appearance on Saturday Night Live spoofing Alaska Governor Sarah Palin wasn't quite as hysterical as her first two, it was still pretty hilarious and, even better, nailed Palin's hypocrisy when it comes to "tolerating" gays. Here is the clip if you didn't see the show or you can watch it wide screen at NBC.com. In addition to Fey, the skit featured Jason Sudeikis as Senator Joe Biden and Queen Latifah as moderator Gwen Ifill from PBS. (FYI, the gay question comes at abou

Fey as Palin continues to boost 'SNL' ratings
Aided by intense interest in Thursday's vice-presidential debate, NBC's "Saturday Night Live's" ratings jumped 23 percent over last week as former head writer Tina Fey once again portrayed vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin.(Msnbc.com is a joint venture of Microsoft and NBC.)Saturday's show was hosted by Anne Hathaway, whose new film, "Rachel Getting Married," opened on Friday. Hathaway has been in the news lately because her former boyfriend, Italian businessman Raffaello Follieri, pleaded guilty to w

Ratings Continue to Soar for SNL
Perhaps the failing economy benefiting someone: Saturday Night Live continued its ratings renaissance over the weekend, a surefire sign that no one is going out and spending money on Saturday nights. Or maybe everyone just loves Tina Fey. The Anne Hathaway-hosted episode was seen in 7.4 percent of the Nielsen households, up 23 percent from last week and a whopping 42 percent from a year ago. The numbers were only slightly lower than the Saturday Night Live season premiere, making this weekend's one of the h

The Secret Life of Bees Buzzes into LA
Queen Latifah was on SNL this weekend assisting Tina Fey in recreating the VP debates but last night she was cracking up with Will Smith on the red carpet in LA for the premiere of The Secret Life of Bees. Will was there as a producer and to support Jada who embraced Fall's latest lace trend and is an executive producer of the film based on the best-selling novel. Dakota Fanning continues to look all grown up while looking perfectly age appropriate. The recently engaged Jennifer Hudson got gorgeous in na

Tina Fey Does Sarah Palin In VP Debate
SNL's latest skit was sharp. That's Queen Latifah as moderator Gwen Ifill.

Our Little Girl’s Done All Grown Up!
The tiny blonde, strangely-toothed actress is now 14 years old. And if her red carpet photos from The Secret Life of Bees premiere are any indication, she’s done all grown up. WHAT DOES DAKOTA LOOK LIKE NOW? Plus, red carpet photos of my three favorite BBW, Queen Latifah, Jennifer Hudson and Will Smith. Well, it appears her transformation into Gwyneth Paltrow is nearly complete: Dakota is only 14… and she looks like a grown up lady now. And you know what? We respect her for that! Mak

Gwen Ifill: There Was Nothing I Could Do!
When Matt Drudge last week "broke news" that Gwen Ifill — at that point the upcoming moderator to the vice presidential debate — was writing a book about black politics in America and releasing it on Inauguration Day, conservatives quickly shaped the story to make everyone think the PBS (and NBC) veteran was authoring a pro-Obama book and, thus, wasn't qualified to moderate what will likely be the most-watched of the debates. Except, as we explained, Ifill wasn't writing a pr
