Patrick Swayze: BRAVE Patrick Swayze is undergoing experimental treatment to save his life and is "determined to beat" pancreatic cancer, his family said yesterday.

The Dirty Dancing star, 55, is enduring weekly chemotherapy combined with a new drug.

His mother Patsy said: "It breaks my heart to know he's suffering. But he bears it. He's hanging in there and getting the best treatment he can. He doesn't deserve to get this. He's got such a big heart."

Patrick and wife Lisa live on a ranch in New Mexico. Pals say his weight has plummeted, leaving him gaunt and pale, following the treatment sessions at California's Stanford University.

His doctor George Fisher said: "Patrick has a very limited amount of disease and appears to be responding well to treatment. We are considerably more optimistic."

But he is still smoking - linked to a third of pancreatic cancers.
