Barack Obama: Sen. Barack Obama likes pie. Over the last three days of campaigning, it's become clear that he's given a great deal of thought to pie. He's talked about the kinds of pie he likes, about having a pie contest where he'll be a judge, and how pie fits into the larger economic difficulties of our time. On Thursday afternoon, in Georgetown, Ohio, Obama and Gov. Ted Strickland stopped at a diner for pie. He's been talking about the visit ever since. He waxed on about his pie during a rally in Portsmouth, Ohio that night. He reminisced about it the next morning in Chillicothee and again in Columbus, Ohio. And today, he talked about his stop for pie at four separate stops in neighborhoods across Philadelphia. "I was in this small town in Ohio, Read full story at www.swamppolitics.com

Gains for Obama among people of faith
A new survey on faith and American politics shows Democratic nominee Barack Obama making inroads among some believers and moving ahead of Republican John McCain among Roman Catholics, largely because of young Catholics’ support. In the biggest shift over the past four years, Senator Obama now wins the backing of 60 percent of voters who attend religious services once or twice a month, a jump from the 49 percent the Democratic nominee won in 2004. Senator McCain holds the advantage only among the highly

Obama: Coming Up For Ayers
Voters are cynical. Obama doesn’t want them to be, implores them not to be at almost every campaign stop, yet in this episode he benefits from their cynicism. If [he] weathers the Ayers controversy, it will be in part because voters judge his association with Ayers, and his weak answers about that association, to be nothing more than a politician’s garden-variety duplicity…  Obama has not been candid. When asked about Ayers in a debate, he said he was “a guy who lives in my neighbo

Obama, flush with cash, buys up primetime network TV
Well it looks like Barack Obama can have the stage all to himself after all — and he doesn’t need John McCain to suspend his campaign to do it. The Democratic nominee for President is going the route of Matthew Lesko, Miss Cleo and Richard Simmons. He’s doing an infomercial. Prime time The Obama campaign is buying up the equivalent of waterfront property on the airwaves, purchasing 30-minute blocks of prime time on CBS and NBC. Expensive? Very. Vera Barker: Vera Barker & Barack Obama
What is Vera Barker’s link with Barack Obama? Vera Barker was listed in the FEC Senate campaign records as “Finance Director.” Some people in Chicago alleged Vera Barker was Obama’s Finance Director for his 2004 Senate campaign. However, the researchers found that Claire Serdiuk was listed as the Finance Director for Obama’s 2004 campaign. Vera Barker was not listed online together with Claire Serdiuk. How can both women be Finance Directors? When there was buzz about Vera Barker, Barker was th

McCain Advisor Dropped Over Racist 50/Ludacris/Obama Column
John McCain’s campaign has confirmed the removal of their Virginia leadership representative Bobby May, over the prominent GOP veteran’s penning of a racially charged column parodying the policies of Barack Obama.   The piece, entitled “The (clarified) Platform of Barack Hussein Obama,” appeared this week in The Voice newspaper.   Throughout the column, May lampooned Obama’s ethnically diverse background and how it would affect his presidential policies.   On the drug crisis,...(

Palin drubs Obama on abortion during Pa. rally
Palin says a vote for Obama is, in her words, "a vote for activist courts that will continue to smother the open and democratic debate that we deserve and that we need on this issue of life." Palin made her remarks Saturday during a rally before about 5,000 people in Johnstown, about 60 miles east of Pittsburgh. On Saturday night, the self-described "hockey mom" is scheduled to drop the ceremonial first puck when the Flyers open their NHL season in Philadelphia against the New York Rangers. Share with

Mumbai, Oct 12 (IANS) Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan has hurt his knees once again, this time while doing a dangerous car stunt for home production "Kites" in Las Vegas. Though doctors advised him eight weeks rest, the brawny actor was about and running just three days after the accident. "I hurt myself while jumping from a car. It looked really bad. Sarah Palin: Obama Has "Left Behind Even The Middle Ground When It Comes To The Issue Of Life" [Roe Vs. World]
Behind in the polls and perhaps looking for a way to connect with voters without resorting to Barack Obama "is palling around a terrorist" speech she gave last week, Gov. Sarah Palin has shifted her focus to abortion, referring to Senator Obama as a "radical" who has "left behind even the middle ground when it comes to the issue of life" at a rally in Jonestown, PA yesterday. "In times like these with wars and financial crisis, I know that it may be easy to forget even as deep and abiding a concern as the r

McCain Reschedules Letterman; Obama Receives Network Bargain
So let's see if David Letterman will ease up on John McCain now that the Republican presidential candidate is slated to appear Thursday on The Late Show. I think Dave and his writers are right now making plans to further ridicule the guy. Dave's been merciless ever since McCain angered Letterman by cancelling at the last minute September 24th over the economic crisis, claiming that he was heading to Washington DC that second, and then sitting for a NYC interview with Katie Couric instead. FRANK RICH: MASTER OF THE MOMENT
The NY Times Opinionator writes a devastating piece about the McCain-Palin campaign’s attempts in recent weeks to ”brand [Obama] as a potential killer and an accessory to past attempts at murder.” “By the time McCain asks the crowd ”Who is the real Barack Obama?” it’s no surprise that someone cries out ”Terrorist!” The rhetorical conflation of Obama with terrorism is complete. It is stoked further by the repeated invocation of Obama’s middle name b
