Dana Perino: 'Pulling back the curtain'
by Mark Silva
Dana Perino, who will deliver her 146th and final televised White House press briefing this morning, offers a certain insight into why the departing President George W. Bush has attempted to be as gracious as possible about his successor, President-elect Barack Obama, and the transition of power underway following a campaign that essentially employed Bush as a punching bag.
"This is a remarkable thing I've learned about 'Bush 41' and his son,'' the 43rd president, Perino...

Obama and McCain Seem to Understand the Importance of Renewable Energy
The good news from the presidential campaign is that even though Senator McCain and Governor Palin have resorted to swift-boat tactics, the fundamental issue of economic well-being has begun to dominate the race for the White House. In the past, that would be bad news for environmental protection and sustainable development, as we’d be hearing we can either have either economic growth or environmental protection. Fortunately, Senator Obama is connecting economic well-being with energy efficiency and renew

Palin drubs Obama on abortion during Pa. rally
Palin says a vote for Obama is, in her words, "a vote for activist courts that will continue to smother the open and democratic debate that we deserve and that we need on this issue of life."
Palin made her remarks Saturday during a rally before about 5,000 people in Johnstown, about 60 miles east of Pittsburgh.
On Saturday night, the self-described "hockey mom" is scheduled to drop the ceremonial first puck when the Flyers open their NHL season in Philadelphia against the New York Rangers.

Worry over Lindsay Lohan girlfriend Sam Ronson DJing for Barack Obama
He is a beacon of hope the world over but Barack Obama's fledgling presidency could be ruined... all because of Lindsay Lohan.
Lindsay's lesbian lover Sam Ronson is due to DJ at a Washington DC party next week celebrating Obama's inauguration.
And Lindsay and Sam have had so many public bust-ups lately - including a massive fight in Miami on New Year's Eve - that party planners fear any bitchy spats may take the shine off the momentous political changeover. A source says: "This is a massive gig for th

Obama's Complexion is Waxy
Looks like President Barack Obama has already been inaugurated, at least as far as Madame Tussauds is concerned. Barack's wax figure was unveiled in London early this morning. The model is shown in a recreated White House Oval Office, and includes a recreation of the Resolute desk, used by presidents for more than 100 years. As usual, the infamous Madame Tussauds does amazing work.I can't believe the real inauguration is coming up in less than a week. Will Smith Has “Ear” On Playing Obama & Mandela
Who would have thought that the Fresh Prince of Bel Air might one day be tossing out the possibility of bringing the lives of two of the most famous black men to the silver screen and be taken seriously? Obviously, Will Smith has come a long way from his hilarious rapping roots, but his sense of humor is still intact: “I definitely got the ears for it,” the star of Seven Pounds remarked regarding the possibility of playing the 44th president. While that story is still in the creati

Will Smith: 'I Have The Ears to Play Barack Obama'
Will Smith would love to play Barack Obama in a movie - because he's got the ears for it.The Men in Black star - who was a passionate supporter of the Democrat throughout his election campaign - believes he should get first refusal on playing the 44th President of the United States. He says, "I definitely got the ears for it."So I am hoping that might happen some day. He wrote a fantastic ending to the first part of the story. So we Will see what happens."My wish project would be the Nelson Mandela story.rea
MCCAIN’S ANGRY MOB PUSHBACK, PT. 2
The other big news of Friday evening, besides the finding that Sarah Palin abused the power of her office in the Troopergate scandal, is that John McCain, for the first time, after a full week of media coverage, has finally weighed in on hate-filled, sometimes murderous rhetoric that has been heard at McCain-Palin campaign events this week.
I’ll have more thoughts on this over the weekend. Till then, the video — kind of a must see – of McCain asking his supporters to “be res
McCain shies away from recent days’ attacks
AP - Republican John McCain, the clock ticking down on a chance to narrow Democrat Barack Obama’s lead in polls, turned away Saturday from visceral attacks on his rival to pivot back toward policy differences.
McCain kept his speech in this Iowa river town focused on the economy and other policies, a striking change from just days ago when his campaign redoubled its challenge to Obama over his association with a former ’60s radical. McCain also claimed that American voters didn’t really k

Does McCain Really Expect Voters to Buy the Obama-Terrorist Line?
On Thursday, John McCain at last did away with all above-the-fray pretense and added his voice to the right-wing chorus now openly trying to portray Barack Obama as a fundamentally anti-American figure.
McCain, whose running-mate previously accused the Democratic presidential nominee of “palling around with terrorists,” sought to frame Obama’s rather tenuous connection with Bill Ayers in the most sinister terms possible.
“Senator Obama says he was just another guy in the neighborhood,” McCain sa
