City of Ember / **1/2 ()
"City of Ember" (PG, 95 minutes). In a futuristic but old-fashioned village buried far beneath earth's surface, humans have lived for more than 200 years. But now it's up to young Doon and Lina (Harry Treadaway and Saoirse Ronan) to avoid the giant mutant moles and find an escape route. Correctly rated PG; there's not a moment of dash-13 in it. With Tim Robbins, Bill Murray, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Martin Landau and Mary Kay Place. Rated Two and a half stars.

"City of Ember": Heroes rise up from dystopian detritus
The family fantasy "City of Ember"— directed by Gil Kenan ("Monster House") and starring Bill Murray, Tim Robbins, Saoirse Ronan and Harry Treadaway — is an engrossing adaptation of Jeanne Duprau's novel about a futuristic underground city.
Review: City of Ember
One of the most gorgeous-looking films I've seen this year is City of Ember, the Fox/Walden adaptation of Jeanne Duprau's young-adult fantasy novel about a post-apocalyptic underground city. Although the story is aimed at younger audiences, it's still enjoyable for grown-ups. The movie should be viewed on as large a screen as you can find, giving you the sense that you're this close to the fascinating and decaying city where the story is set.
The movie's prologue lays out the premise clearly. In the future

Will There Be A City Of Ember 2? [City Of Ember]
If you're a fan of the underground world of young adult scifi that is Jeanne Duprau's City Of Ember, then you're aware there's a sequel to this novel called The People of Sparks. So in a press conference for the movie adaptation Bill Murray, Tim Robbins and Saoirse Ronan answered who might be coming back, and what were the chances for an Ember 2. Review: Body of Lies
I found myself asking one simple question during Ridley Scott's Body of Lies, a well-shot, big-name intelligence thriller that sees Leonardo DiCaprio's CIA man caught up in action in the Middle East -- namely, what is Body of Lies for? I don't mean that in the sense of asking what it supports or believes in -- although, with the film's mix of Hollywood heroics and sneering cynicism, you're certainly left with that question -- but rather in the sense of asking what it is that Body of Lies means to accomplish
Review: ‘Body of Lies’
Ridley Scott brings in a couple of A-listers in Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe to take a shot at the spy globe trotting genre, and what we get is a very real feeling and superbly made film that will keep you guessing until the end.
Roger Ferris (DiCaprio) is a C.I.A. operative in the middle east collecting intel and eliminating targets under the watchful eye of his supervisor Ed Hoffman (Crowe) who sits at home in D.C. and at Langley calling the shots from overhead surveillance from the sky. Hoffman

Movie Review: Body of Lies
CIA spy Roger Ferris is sent to Jordan to find a Middle Eastern terrorist in Body of Lies. Smart but spent, Body of Lies is an American stereotype done up nice.
Roger Ferris (Leonardo DiCaprio), a CIA agent in Iraq, is reassigned to Jordan to find Al-Saleem (Alon Abutbul), a terrorist threatening to commit attacks all over Europe. Contrary to and against the warning of his successors, Ferris decides to include the Head of Jordanian General Intelligence Department, the well dressed and brilliant Hani Sal

The Russell Crowe Gimmick: A History
Photo: Courtesy of Warner Bros. This needs to stop. In Body of Lies, Russell Crowe once again pulls out his oldest gimmick: The Contrarian Detail. Again and again, Crowe plays tough guys — and tries to humanize them with some too poetic, too cute detail, to ridiculous, distracting effect. His Black Bart cowboy had a taste for painting in 3:10 to Yuma (remember him sketching the sagebrush in between gunfights?). His fearless sea captain had a fine hand with the violin in Master and Commander (how&r
Kevin's Review: Body of Lies - Probably the Best Thriller of Its Kind
Post-9/11 thrillers have come and gone over the years, but none have ever really gotten the recipe right. The Kingdom is too heavy on action; Traitor tries to be too smart; and there's just no redeeming Rendition. It's easy to say that Ridley Scott's Body of Lies is a bit tardy, but I'd prefer to describe the film's entrance into this growing genre as fashionably late. With Scott at the helm, and Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe as leads, Body of Lies is a blockbuster both on paper and in execution. The
