A Little More on Pigs... [Politics]
"The New York Times has an article about me calling columnist Heather Mallick a pig," blogs Greta van Susteren via Foxnews.com. "Yes, I called a columnist—in a calm, cool voice—a pig for saying that the nominee for Vice President looks like a porn star." Well, Greta: you can be "happier than a pig in shit" or you can be a "thoughtless little pig," like Alec Baldwin called his daughter via voicemail. You can even be a capitalist pig. We've discussed the lexicon of contemporary vulgarities before,
Economic Forecast: Mostly Cloudy, With a Chance of Alec Baldwin [Leaping Lizards]
For all its success on paper, Saturday Night Live is essentially making its pop-culture bones these days with an ex-cast member imitating a woman who might be completely irrelevant in six weeks. But some phenomena never expire, and when you combine the enduring miracle of Alec Baldwin with the current, overriding stench of economic recession, one SNL highlight alone stands out today for its chemistry and prescience: Reliable Investments, featuring Baldwin as a broker with all the answers for Ana Gasteyer. B
Does Alec Baldwin Have His Own Sarah Palin Impression? You Betcha [Not Got To Allow That]
newVideoPlayer("/alechp_def.flv", 506, 423,""); Tina Fey had better watch her back — if she continues with her cutting Sarah Palin impressions on Saturday Night Live, she might find herself fired (or sniped from above thanks to a far-afield Alaskan helicopter). Fortunately, her 30 Rock costar Alec Baldwin will be available to step into the breach: he unveiled his own Sarah Palin impression on Friday's edition of Real Time with Bill Maher. While the vocal mimicry isn't quite up to par with Fey's (or B
The Liberal Elite [Stories]
Scene: a $1,000-a-head Obama fundraiser last night in a tony East Village townhouse. "We have to sacrifice," Alec Baldwin told the crowd. Moments later his podium came crashing down to the floor, but he recovered smoothly with a joke. Danity Kane's Aubrey O'Day, her long blond locks wrapped in a headband, stood in the corner stroking her little dog, which was dyed pink. At the conclusion of the speeches, Alan Cumming encouraged the crowd to talk freely. "There are no Republicans here tonight," he noted. The
The Reflections Of A Bitter Man [The Unspiked Files]
On a recent fall afternoon, the actor Alec Baldwin was tossing a football around on the sidewalk by a Marriott Hotel. While the crew of his TV show ’30 Rock’ were setting up the next shot, Baldwin was clearly the star — the only principal cast member in fact — in this section of Long Island City, Queens. He was light on his feet, laughing and joking with the crew, and happily posing for a photograph with a wandering fan.

Alec Baldwin Stops By Conan Just For Shits and Giggles [Pop-Ins]
newVideoPlayer("/kirstiepalin_def.flv", 506, 423,""); We were so wrapped up in all that Letterman/McCain business, we almost forgot about this nice little surprise from last night’s Conan. Fresh off his best actor Emmy win for 30 Rock, Alec Baldwin stopped by the Late Night set unannounced for a brief round of “In The Year 2000.” It seems like Alec’s been rocking those Buddy Holly glasses even more these days, which is always fun. Plus, he actually gets off a couple of decent jokes. Check in after

FOX411: Alec Baldwin 'Alienated' From Daughter
How did Alec Baldwin find out his wife, Kim Basinger, was pregnant? According to this passage from his just-released book, "A Promise to Ourselves: A Journey Through Fatherhood and Divorce," it wasn’t in the usual way.
"We were standing in her bathroom in her house in Los Angeles: Kim, myself and Kim’s then assistant. Kim said she had something to tell me. She seemed lost in thought, bordering on grim. Her assistant had a slightly woeful smile on her face. Kim said she was pregnant
DVD Review: The Hunt for Red October (Blu-Ray)
The Hunt for Red October is hands-down the best film in the Jack Ryan series for a number of reasons, but first and foremost is the lack of a major villain. Instead the conflict is provided by the cryptic world of international politics and tense foreign relations that are all too real. Obviously there are villainous characters, but their roles are minor and are often interjected to give the plot a single push when needed.
A young Alec Baldwin plays a Jack Ryan who believes in others more than he believes

Alec Baldwin, Stop Talking
We've been over this Alec Baldwin. You think your story about a father's rights in the California court system need to be told, and hell, maybe it does. That's why you wrote a book about it right?
But every time you give an interview to a reporter about your ex, Kim Basinger, and the bitter custody battles you've gone through for your daughter, you somehow let your larger-than-life personality and grandiose sentiments get the better of you, and end up sounding like a pretentious jackass

TV & Movie News: Salma Hayek ready to Rock - George Clooney ready for “Men Who Stare at Goats”
Salma Hayek has landed a juicy role on another Thursday-night series. Hayek has been confirmed for a recurring role on NBC’s Emmy-winning 30 Rock, (on set above with baby Valentina and Alec Baldwin) playing no less than former GE exec Jack Donaghy’s new love interest. Hayek says in a statement:

Alex Witchel wrote an extremely thorough profile of Queen Latifah for the New York Times Magazine, in which we discover that the woman who is a Grammy-award winning singer, Oscar-nominated actress, management-and-production company mogul, CoverGirl developer and model as well as spokesperson for Jenny Craig is also unfailingly polite and amazingly down to earth. The piece does touch on her sexuality, and The Queen says: I don’t have a problem discussing the topic of somebody being gay, but I do have a pro

In the Battle of the British Funnymen, Simon Pegg Calls Ricky Gervais a 'Fat Idiot' [Pick Your Side]
In the annals of celebrity feuds, we tend to prefer the light-hearted frivolity of a Seth Green/Shia LeBeouf dustup to the knock-down, "no one gets away unscathed" fights like Alec Baldwin on Greg Garcia. That's why we're so stymied by the latest and most unlikely entry in the feud genre: the war of words between Shaun of the Dead star Simon Pegg and Ricky Gervais, the Emmy-honored creator of Extras and The Office. So far, the battle (instigated by Pegg's mouthy appearance on a British radio show) is one-si

‘SNL’ Numbers Soaring on Political Humor
The political engine continues to churn ratings success for “Saturday Night Live,” as Saturday’s “SNL” topped the previous week’s numbers by 23%.
Featuring another appearance from Tina Fey as Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, along with a guest appearance from Queen Latifah, the latest “SNL” episode, hosted by Anne Hathaway, drew a 7.4 rating/18 share in overnight metered markets.
Saturday’s “SNL” came within one-tenth of a ratings point of the premiere on Sept. 13, which was the show’s hi
