Nicole Kidman returns to Australia for Baz Luhrmann

www.timesonline.co.uk - 13th Sep 2008

Nicole Kidman: Whichever way you cut it, the land down under is huge. The state of Western Australia alone — the left-hand third — unfolds nonchalantly at 11 times the size of the UK. The difference is, it’s home to a mere 2m people, dwelling largely in southern Perth. Up here, in tiny Kununurram, a thousand miles to the north (the “Top End”, as the locals call it), there’s plenty of legroom. Bar the odd Aboriginal settlement and remote dots like this one, God’s country remains decidedly empty. Read full story at www.timesonline.co.uk

THE PRESSURE IS ON NICOLE
New mom Nicole Kidman was snapped with her George Clooney-lookalike bodyguard going into the Kneehigh Theatre in London for a viewing of Noel Coward’s Brief Encounter on Saturday. Nicole recently wrapped re-shoots of the Baz Luhrmann directed epic Australia which costars Aussie hunk Hugh Jackman and is set for release in mid November. The film will mark the A-list star’s return to the big screen since the birth of baby Sunday Rose. There will definitely be a great deal of scrutiny put on Nico

Baz Luhrmann on his “crushing ambition”
I’ve already expressed my eagerness for Baz Luhrmann’s “Australia,” probably my single most anticipated film of the year. I was thoroughly enraptured by the trailer that had many others passing snide pre-judgments on the film. (Bizarrely, words like “corny” and “artificial” were frequently thrown up as pejoratives, indicating that the self-irony of Luhrmann’s previous work entirely escaped certain audiences.) Now my appetite has been further whetted by

"Australia" to Top "Titanic"?
Marcos Oliveira, head of 20th Century Fox in Australia, told the Sydney Morning Herald that he believes the upcoming Australia, starring Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman and directed by Baz Luhrmann will become “the biggest [film] of all time” in that country. That’s saying a lot, since Titanic came out of that studio, as well. Further fueling my interest in this film is Jackman’s comment at the Australian International Movie Convention. He called his part in the film “the rol

Famous weddings: Nicole Kidman & Keith Urban
Hollywood actress Nicole Kidman and country singer Keith Urban tied the knot late in the sunny afternoon of 25th July 2006, Australian standard time, in the beautiful beachside suburb of Manly. Her adopted kids with ex husband Tom Cruise attended the ceremony with daughter Isabella acting as bridesmaid and son

Paparazzi scrambles for Kidman
Nicole Kidman is usually the centre of attention, but right now there's only one girl the paparazzi care about: her baby daughter, Sunday Rose Kidman Urban. The film is due out on November 13, but insiders say Luhrmann is still shooting scenes and polishing the film in a scramble to make the deadline, as well as working on Tourism Australia advertis

Can ‘Australia’ Finally Convince Audiences That Hugh Jackman Isn’t Gay?
20th Century Fox sure hopes so! "There are not many actors who have an ability to pick up a Nicole Kidman, throw her on the bed and ravish her with believability," says Australia director Baz Luhrmann. Additionally: "He is also excellent with a cattle whip." Australia (opening November 26) —

‘Australia’ Delayed
The film was originally set for release on November 14th, but now they’re moving it to November 26th, five days after Harry Potter would have debuted on the 21st, had it not been moved. Without the Potter juggernaut to steal your cash, Australia doesn’t have to worry about trying to get its share before Potter hits theaters. It’ll be easier fending off Bolt and Twilight, which are now opening on the 21st instead.  Makes sense, Potter is such a huge movie, all the others need to scoop up the

To the hundreds of others in the busy street, it probably looked like a novel way for someone to carry their shopping. But these exclusive pictures show Nicole Kidman out for the first time apparently carrying her baby daughter, Sunday Rose. Ms Kidman took a stroll around Portobello Road in London’s Notting Hill yesterday, wearing a trendy baby sling. She cradled it protectively as she walked around, with other shoppers oblivious to the actress’s presence. The Moulin Rouge star, whose film Malice
