Will filmgoers rally around World War II movies?
IT'S THE one war in the last 60 years that doesn't divide politicians, pundits and voters. But can World War II bring moviegoers together?
Starting on Friday and ending at Christmas, at least half a dozen dramas whose plots connect with World War II are scheduled to arrive in theaters, all hoping to perform better than the crop of recent war films looking at the modern Middle Eastern conflict.
The new movies -- Friday's Spike Lee-directed "Miracle at St. Anna," Nov. 7's concentration camp story "Th

New ‘Australia’ trailer
I’ve been hearing some good things about Hugh Jackman’s performance all along, but for some reason, he’s never cracked my Best Actor chart. It’s a crowded field, but anyway, this is a great trailer. I’m a Baz supporter through and through, and I’ve been told this isn’t the straight-up epic it appears to be from the materials released so far. It isn’t Baz restraining his vision for the sake of a style of film he hasn’t tackled yet; it is very much a
Baz Luhrmann on his “crushing ambition”
I’ve already expressed my eagerness for Baz Luhrmann’s “Australia,” probably my single most anticipated film of the year. I was thoroughly enraptured by the trailer that had many others passing snide pre-judgments on the film. (Bizarrely, words like “corny” and “artificial” were frequently thrown up as pejoratives, indicating that the self-irony of Luhrmann’s previous work entirely escaped certain audiences.)
Now my appetite has been further whetted by
New 'Australia' Trailer: A Romantic Adventure with Wolverine and The Others
If Crocodile Dundee II were a big-budget Lifetime Original Movie based loosely on Pearl Harbor, this is what it would look like. Except this is directed by Moulin Rouge's Baz Luhrmann, stars Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman, and will surely be nominated for several Oscars, whereas the Lifetime version would be called Danielle Steel's Down Under, and would be watched by only sad housewives. It looks pretty good if you're into that whole sweeping, epic romance sort of thing (no one is judging you):

TECH SUPPORT: Best Sound Mixing — Volume I
Those words from Al Jolson forever changed filmmaking in 1927, ushering in “talkies” and bringing about the beginning of the end of the silent film era.

I am not a Baz Luhrman fan and I am not usually a Nicole fan but Australia looks amazing!!
Hugh and NicoleThere are two kinds of people in this world. People who loved Moulin Rouge and people who didn't. I was in the latter category. I don't like movies where I feel like I am tripping on drugs unless I am actually tripping on drugs. However, I think Baz may have calmed down a bit for his newest film, "Australia." Yeah apparently they were affected by World War II also so this is a story about that. Nicole Kidman plays her usual character: rich, gorgeous woman who has to take care of a farm and fa
Another Great Australia Trailer
I'm not really into that romantic mumbo jumbo, however I am actually quite looking forward to Baz Luhrmann Australia. The previous trailers and imagery we have seen have been quite something, but this latest trailer has confirmed that I will be seeing this when it is released. The trailer starts off casually, exploring the predictable relationship between Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman, and then BAM! The trailer switches. The epic…

Nicole has Fertility Waters to Thank for Pregnancy
The “Moulin Rouge” star, who gave birth to daughter Sunday Rose last July, claims that she and six other women who swam in Kununurra waters during production of upcoming Baz Luhrmann romance “Australia” later miraculously conceived. “I never thought that I would get pregnant and give birth to a child, but it happened on this movie,” Kidman says in today’s The Australian Women’s Weekly.
“Seven babies were conceived out of this film and only one was a boy
Can ‘Australia’ Finally Convince Audiences That Hugh Jackman Isn’t Gay?
20th Century Fox sure hopes so! In a story in yesterday's Times, overcompensating executives at the studio hilariously describe Viva Laughlin–toplining, three-time Tony Awards host Hugh Jackman as "rough-hewn" and a "young Clint Eastwood." "There are not many actors who have an ability to pick up a Nicole Kidman, throw her on the bed and ravish her with believability," says Australia director Baz Luhrmann. Additionally: "He is also excellent with a cattle whip."

Be Still My Heart -- New 'Australia' Trailer!
The release date of Australia is a mere month away, yet there's been little in the way of promotion for it. A few posters, a new release date, a few interviews with Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman -- that's it. While this could spell a lack of confidence, I think it's largely due to the fact that Baz Luhrmann was still tinkering with the film as of August.
But at last, there is a new trailer, courtesy of MSN, but sans embed code. It's an odd trailer. It starts off in a style that's quite contemporary, both
Nicole Kidman says filming ‘Australia’ is a dream come true
The ‘The Others’ actress has described the flick, directed by Baz Luhrmann, based on her native country Australia as ‘the last of a dying breed’. “They don’t build stuff like this any more,” The Age quoted Kidman, as telling The Sunday Times newspaper in Britain.
“To feel that air and see people ravaged by the elements, as hard as it is, it’s exquisite,” she added.
Kidman, who is acting alongside Hugh Jackman in the film, plays Lady Sarah Ashley,

Steamy New Photo From Baz Luhrmann's 'Australia'
''It's romantic, adventurous, and huge in scale,'' says Hugh Jackman of Baz Luhrmann's WWII-era epic Australia (out Nov. 14). Jackman stars as a rough-hewn Aussie cowboy who falls for a prim Englishwoman (Nicole Kidman) while helping her reclaim her dead husband's cattle farm.
"Australia" to Top "Titanic"?
Marcos Oliveira, head of 20th Century Fox in Australia, told the Sydney Morning Herald that he believes the upcoming Australia, starring Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman and directed by Baz Luhrmann will become “the biggest [film] of all time” in that country.
That’s saying a lot, since Titanic came out of that studio, as well.
Further fueling my interest in this film is Jackman’s comment at the Australian International Movie Convention. He called his part in the film “the rol
Down under - the movie: But can Baz, Nicole and Hugh persuade us to go to Australia?
It is one of the most hotly anticipated Australian films of all time, featuring two of the country's leading actors, Nicole Kidman and Hugo Jackman, and a backdrop of magnificent outback scenery.
But there is more than box office success and critical acclaim riding on the fortunes of the epic film, Australia, a Second World War saga of romance, conflict and adventure, directed by Baz Luhrmann, who made Moulin Rouge and Strictly Ballroom.
Australians are hoping that th
Must Watch: Second Full Trailer for Baz Luhrmann's Australia
Welcome to Australia. An epic and exciting new trailer for Baz Luhrmann's Australia has debuted this morning. At long last we finally get to see what this movie is really all about - the "rule breaking" romance between Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman. I've said it before when the first trailer hit and I'll say it again - this movie looks absolutely amazing.
I definitely think Baz Luhrmann has pulled off another huge success and I really can't wait to see it. At least it'll be enough of a love letter to A
New 'Australia' TV trailer looks impressive
MSN recently released what it calls an extended TV trailer for Baz Luhrmann's upcoming romance drama "Australia," which stars Nicole Kidman as an English aristocrat who teams up with a stockman (Hugh Jackman) to drive her cattle across Australia’s most unforgiving land and later faces the Japanese bombing of the city of Darwin.
As you can see and hear above (via Trailer Addict), the stunning music and beautiful images make this new footage look grand. I have to admit I am quite looking forward to seeing t

Keith Urban: Being Mr. Mom Is 'Beautiful'
Diaper duty is no sweat for hands-on new dad Keith Urban, the singer tells CMT Insider. In fact, he says, he relishes his role as full-time dad to 2-month-old Sunday Rose while wife, Nicole Kidman, is filming.
"When my wife's working and I've got time off, I'm just Mr. Mom during the day, taking care of the little girl," said Urban, 40, who also called fatherhood "beautiful."
The Kidman-Urban family spent time in Australia while Kidman, 40, filmed the Baz Luhrmann epic Australia, and
New trailer for Australia
We have a new trailer for Luhrmann's Australia. Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman star, and the new trailer looks great.
These films aren't usually my bag, but this one looks like it could be good.
Australia sees Nicole Kidman play an English aristocrat who inherits a large ranch. She sets off with a stock-man, Hugh Jackman, to make sure her property is not taken over. The pair have to drive 2,000 cattle across country. And along the way they witness the Japanese bombing of D
