Musician Randy Newman likens McCain to Hitler
Celebrifi - 16th Aug 2008
John McCain: Whoa! Maybe this is a reflection of the low circulation of
Blender magazine, but somehow
Randy Newman seems to have gotten away with comparing Republican presidential nominee
John McCain with
Adolf Hitler!
In a recent
Blender piece on
Barack Obama's and
McCain's musical tastes, musician/composer/songwriter
Randy Newman and mash-up DJ
Girl Talk were asked to comment and analyze what the presidential candidates' top 10 picks said about them.
Most of the interview seems innocuous enough, with
Newman droppping in a sneaky comment or two about
McCain having
ABBA on his playlist ("Listening to "Dancing Queen" alone too many times, though, would be suspicious.") and
Girl Talk taking issue with
Obama including
will.i.am's "Yes We Can" on his ("I couldn't tell if it was cool or creepy for
Obama to have "Yes We Can." Maybe he's in love with himself and wants to hear his speeches over and over as collaged by
will.i.am.")
However, the piece de resistance comes at the end, when
Newman was asked who'd get his vote based solely off their playlist, to which he replied:
McCain has a really likeable list. Then again, Hitler liked some good music, you know?Well, we're no experts on the matter, but inserting the names "
McCain" and "
Hitler" within 7 words of each other in the same sentence and including the words "likeable" and "good" in there for good measure
may be construed by some as likening the two in a positive light...
On his
official blog, Newman makes an apology/non-apology/denial/statement of sorts, claiming that "
Hitler's appreciation for the music of
Wagner said nothing about his character":
"I never would equate any living human being with Hitler," says Randy, asserting that interpreting the statement otherwise would be "a ridiculous misrepresentation of what I said."Well. Maybe
Newman should just be happy that he wasn't asked what
Hitler's "happy dance" said about his character or leadership abilities...

John McCain thinks Barack Obama is playing the race card.
The Republican presidential candidate and his staff were upset by a comment Obama made on the campaign trail.
During a campaign speech, the Illinois Democrat told supporters Republicans were trying to make voters scared of him.

Ludacris' Obama song unlikely to alienate voters
Ludacris' new song, "Politics as Usual," may have cost him one of his biggest fans, Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama.
And for good reason: It points up the dilemma facing the nation's potential first black president, who wants the support of the influential hip-hop community but needs to steer clear of the controversy so commonly associated with its music.
Ludacris' "Politics as Usual" alludes to an imminent victory for Obama by handing out major put-downs to his rivals. It dismisses Hilla

Obama or McCain?
Yep, I went there. I want to know who you guys are voting for! I am NOT going to tolerate people bashing each other, or calling Obama a terrorrist, etc.
As most of you know, I am voting for Obama. I am not a fan of republican views (look where it's got us now!) and am ready for a democrat in office. Sure, I will lose money out of it, because voting republican would probably HELP my pocket book, but voting for Obama helps my family, who are a bunch of blue collar badasses.
I was shocked at how republicans

"I'm a celebrity, too. Only I'm not from the olden days, and I'm not promising change like
