CADILLAC RECORDS On DVD & Blu-Ray, 3/10/09
Synopsis: “Cadillac Records” chronicles the rise of Leonard Chess’ (Adrien Brody) Chess Records and its recording artists including Muddy Waters (Jeffrey Wright), Little Walter (Columbus Short), Chuck Berry (Mos Def), Willie Dixon (Cedric The Entertainer) and the great Etta James (Beyonce Knowles). In this tale of sex, violence, race and rock and roll in Chicago of the 1950s and 60s, the film follows the exciting but turbulent lives of some of America’s greatest musical...
'CADILLAC RECORDS' IGNORES BO DIDDLEY: Late singer's reps are 'completely shocked.' But a Diddley documentary is in the works.
*While prominent Chess Records artists Muddy Waters, Little Walter, Howlin' Wolf, Chuck Berry and Etta James are represented in the new film about the label, "Cadillac Records," its famous artist Bo Diddley is nowhere to be found.
According to the late singer's management company, there's a reason for the omission. The legendary talent, who died last June, had no love for the record label.
MISSING MAN ON CHESS BOARD
THERE'S an obvious omission in Beyoncé Knowles' new movie, "Cadillac Records" - the story about the Chess Records label that left out Bo Diddley while including Muddy Waters, Little Walter, Howlin' Wolf and Chuck Berry. Diddley, who died last...
“Cadillac” Cruises With Nine Black Reel Award Noms!
While the automotive industry is searching for a bailout, the critics have given their stamp of approval to a cinematic “Caddy.” The story of the rise and fall of a pioneering Blues studio, “Cadillac Records” secured nine nominations to lead the pack for the 2008 Black Reel Awards.
The bittersweet tale of blues legends Leonard Chess, Muddy Waters, Lil’ Walter, Chuck Berry, Howlin’ Wolf, Willie Dixon and Etta James was artfully reproduced although it struggl
Cadillac Records
I'm not going to pretend that Darnell Martin's Cadillac Records has much to do with the actual history of Chess Records, but this rollicking story of the rise of blues icons Muddy Waters (Jeffrey Wright), Little Walter (Columbus Short), and Etta James (Beyonce Knowles) crackles with the energy and unadorned emotion of their music. Wright is a marvel; he has long been at the top of my list of actors guaranteed to win an Oscar someday. Martin's script doesn't spend much time on the bluesman-as-tomcat cliches.

Review: ‘Cadillac Records’
Good, bad, or somewhere in between, ‘Cadillac Records’ would be an enjoyable experience for someone not even watching the screen. A film about the rise of Chess Records, which recorded albums for Muddy Waters, Chuck Berry, Etta James, and a whole lot more, would be expected to have one of the coolest soundtracks of the year. The soundtrack for ‘Cadillac Records’ doesn’t disappoint one bit.
But the film’s positive attributes don’t stop just at the ear level. Darnell Martin, who also wrote the

Opening this Weekend: Beyonce Sings, The Punisher Sucks and Tricky Dick Fights a Foppish Brit
We've had something on our minds since sitting through box-office smash Four Christmases last weekend. How young is too young to see a PG-13? We realize that with its slapstick humor, baby vomit and distinctive lack of swear words, Four Christmases could be considered a "family film". But mixed in with all the holiday cheer are jokes about public sex, pot brownies, cougars and home pregnancy tests. Worse, Mr. Vaughn actually tells his nephews that Santa Claus doesn't exist. For us, this was all
'Cadillac Records' takes a greatest-hits approach
There are certain films - let's call them Road Map Movies - that drive you directly from point A to point B to point C, with barely a stop for gas. "Cadillac Records" is such a film: You see all the major landmarks, but how enlightening can a road trip be if you never even get off the highway?
Writer-director Darnell Martin clearly respects the fact that the history of Chess Records is a worthy subject. But therein lies a problem: Overwhelmed by the enormity of the task before her, she's forced to rush fro
Beyoncé Gets Two Spots On MTV’s Top Ten Women List
Yes, you read it right. On MTV News‘ Top Ten Women of the Year List, our favorite chick got two spots: one for Beyoncé and one for Sasha Fierce. Beyoncé was put at #10 on the list for finishing her much awaited double disc album, “I Am…Sasha Fierce” and for starring in the new film “Cadillac Records” as musical legend Etta James. She also got married to one heck of a man, Jay-Z and was praised by PETA for her non-fur outfits. Her song, “Single La
