Wednesday afternoon at the Walter Reade Theatre in New York marked a big day for the 46th New York Film Festival. The nominees for the 2009 Golden Globes were announced this morning, and there were a few surprises. The nomination of Tom Cruise for Tropic Thunder drew giggles from the crowd, as did James Franco's nod for Pinapple Express. Apparently, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association thought Franco's performance as a lovable pot dealer was much more powerful than his portrayal of Harvey Milk's lover.
