Microsoft Pulls Bill Gates Jerry Seinfeld Ads

coverawards.com - 18th Sep 2008

Bill Gates: The ads were panned by critics, but the company is saying this is not the reason the ads are being pulled. Microsoft spokesman Frank Shaw stated, “All along we said we were having a teaser campaign. We’re getting ready to start the second phase. This was the plan all along.” However, he also tells Valleywag that “People would have been happier if everyone loved the ads, but this was not unexpected.” Seinfeld reportedly received $10 million for the spots, which were said to be a take on the “I’m a Mac, I’m a PC.”  The company may still do something else with him. Bill Gates commercials with Jerry Seinfeld canceled, but he’s still filthy rich
Those awful ads that feature Bill Gates and Jerry Seinfeld, and reveal how out of touch with consumers Microsoft is, are supposedly canceled. While Microsoft is adamant that Seinfeld has not been dropped because of the backlash to the ads from consumers, it is all a little too coincidental don’t you think? The next set of ads are set to counter Apple’s very successful ‘I’m a PC’ advertising campaign. Taking a swipe at Apple, the Microsoft campaign will use an engineer who resemble

Bill Gates and Jerry Seinfeld go to Shoe Circus - VIDEO
Filed under: Video, Commercials, Celebrities, Reality-Free We talked about this when they announced that Jerry Seinfeld had signed on to promote Windows for Microsoft. If you were watching the big NFL kickoff Thursday night, you might have seen what that looked like. If you missed it, it's embedded after the jump. I've watched the commercial a few times now, and I'm torn. I agreed with Brad's take in the original post, that Seinfeld may be a few years past the point of ideal pitchman. That being said, the

Its aim: To make sure no one interpreted its shift to a series of anti-Mac ads as an abandonment of the Seinfeld spots. But Crispin Porter tells Gizmodo that it did, indeed, have another Seinfeld and Gates spot already p

Gates, Seinfeld Funnier Second Time Around
NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- In the latest Microsoft ad out of Crispin Porter & Bogusky, Bill Gates and Jerry Seinfeld try to blend in.
