Microsoft Dumps Jerry Seinfeld for Pharrell and Eva Longoria

Jerry Seinfeld: Less than a month ago, Microsoft announced that it had tapped comedian Jerry Seinfeld for its "hip" new Windows Vista ads (also featuring Microsoft chairman Bill Gates) that were going to finally stand up to Apple's wildly popular "I'm a Mac, I'm a PC" commercials. But now, the Wall Street Journal, which originally broke the story, reports that Windows is moving into "phase two" of their $300 million ad campaign—and the 54-year-old comic has gotten the boot.  Perhaps realizing that the odd ads featuring Mr. Seinfeld and Mr. Gates shopping for shoes and moving in with a suburban family because they "need to get in touch with the people" were entirely ineffective—the self-deprecating ads seemed to Read full story at www.observer.com

Jerry Seinfeld's Microsoft Ads Pulled

I’m a PC (Microsoft Ad)
Microsoft are such tools. They spend hundreds of millions of dollars on ads and all that they can think of is trying to emulate the Apple - Get a Mac ads. No offense, but seeing that snatch, Eva Longoria or Pharrell -who’s a regular mac and iphone user, in a Microsoft commercial, doesn’t really have me rushing out for Vista and dumping my mac. So scrap that Seinfeld and Bill Gates team-up idea that none of the tech blogs liked: Windows already thought up a new tongue-in-cheek ad campaign airing tonight that would make Peggy Olson wet her knickers. Microsoft Denies Jerry Seinfeld Ads Were Pulled
Computer giant Microsoft has denied reports they pulled their advertising campaign, starring Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates, off the air early following heavy criticism. The commercials, which only debuted two weeks ago, were reportedly designed to counteract Apple’s ongoing marketing strategy by using the funnyman and the Microsoft chief in two advertisements. Frank Shaw from Microsoft explained, “All along we said we were having a teaser campaign.  We’re getting ready to start the seco

Microsoft spokesman Frank Shaw denied the ads were getting yanked because of negative buzz (some claimed the spots were a poor attempt to counter Apple's "I'm a Mac, I'm a PC" ads). "All along we said we were having a teaser campaign," Shaw insisted. "We're getting ready to start the second phase. This was the plan all along." The news was first reported by Valleywag. Microsoft announcement tomorrow: No more Seinfeld ads! [Breaking]
Remember those awful Microsoft ads with Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates? Well, now you can forget them. Microsoft flacks are desperately dialing reporters to spin them about "phase two" of the ad campaign — a phase, due to be announced tomorrow, which will drop the aging comic altogether. Microsoft's version of the story: Redmond had always planned to drop Seinfeld. The awkward reality: The ads only reminded us how out of touch with consumers Microsoft is — and that Bill Gates's company has millio

Microsoft Drops Seinfeld
In what has turned out to be an odd marketing ploy with a lifespan of a mere two weeks, Microsoft has decided to pull the plug on the ads featuring Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates “relating to average people”. This is clearly a case where Microsoft just felt the need to grab some headlines for a few weeks. In that effort, I offer up a big congrats to the standard oil-esque software omnipus (that’s octopus with infinite legs). But was this originally inteded to be a short-run two week campa

Microsoft Upgrades Itself (Sort Of) [Life Of A Hustler]
In a surprising move, Jerry Seinfeld has been ousted as Microsoft pitchman in favor of a much, much more recognizable face... Pharell Williams of the Neptunes! OK, maybe this is something of a lateral move for Microsoft. Seinfeld got the axe after a series of fairly bizarre ads that I think I liked. Maybe that's part of the problem there. The one where Bill Gates and Jerry Seinfeld went shoe-shopping really had very little to do with Microsoft, and seemed to be a rather blatant attempt to counter

Microsoft Copping to $10 Million Mistake?
