It's official: Mick Jagger's lips are a work of art
Mick Jagger's pout is officially fit for a museum.
London's Victoria and Albert Museum announced Tuesday that it bought the original artwork for The Rolling Stones' famous "lips" logo, inspired by the singer's mouth.
The museum said it bought the work at an auction in the United States for $92,500.
The lips-and-tongue logo was designed by London art student John Pasche in 1970, and was first used on the band's "Sticky Fingers" album the next year.

Mick Jagger 's pout is officially fit for a museum. London's Victoria and Albert Museum announced yesterday that it bought the original artwork for The Rolling Stones' famous "lips'' logo, inspired by the singer's mouth, at a U.S. auction for $92,500. Mirvish Production's staging of the national tour of A Chorus Line will be at the Canon Theatre Oct. 28 through Nov. 30. Tickets go on sale Monday at Mirvish.com, TicketKing and the box office.

The original design of The Rolling Stones' tongue and lips logo based on lead singer Sir Mick Jagger's famous pout has been bought by the Victoria and Albert Museum.
The London institution paid just under £51,000 for the iconic pop-art image, created by student John Pasche in 1970, at auction in the United States.
It will now form part of the permanent collection of the V&A, the world's largest museum of decorative arts and design.
