Michael Cera Making the Documentary No One Asked For

Michael Cera: Are you guys psyched about Paper Hearts, the new sem-autobiographical documentary about Juno star Michael Cera and his Asian girlfriend Charlyne Yi? No? Perhaps that's because you haven't heard of the feature, which is being kept semi-secret in Hollywood, despite strong interest from investors hoping to cash in Cera's star before he starts growing hair in weird places and becomes unmarketable to the tween demographic. And while we want to have high hopes for the film, which will premiere at Sundance next year, we can't help but think that this is the type of project Cera is choosing over returning to the role of George Michael in the Arrested Development movie. And if that's the case, I'm issuing a preemptive boycott on any films with the young Canadian until he gets his ego in check and remember what amazing comedy gave him his boost to the spotlight.

The facts of life with Michael Cera
Yes, I thought so. You see, son, your body is changing, and I’m sure this must be a very confusing time for you. But I want you to be clear about one thing: this is puberty, and you cannot stay here forever. You’re 21 now. You can drink alcohol if you want; more to the point, you can play characters who can drink alcohol, and we dearly wish you would. You can stop trying to get that cute junior girl to make out with you in some kid’s bedroom while his parents are out of town. What are you

Michael Cera Set For Sundance Splash?
Michael Cera’s rising star just won’t stop. After hits like Superbad, Juno and Nick and Norah the Canadian actor is creating buzz again with a semi-secret comedy called Paper Hearts. Cera stars alongside real-life girlfriend Charlyne Yi (aka the stoner chick from Knocked Up) in the indie flick described as part-documentary, part scripted comedy about their real-life relationship. Why so much talk? According to the Hollywood Reporter this could be the sleeper hit of Sundance 2009

Michael Cera: Hollywood's hottest awkward teen
One thing the modest, soft-spoken Cera does not pine for is celebrity, but he's got it anyway. As Hollywood's favorite awkward teen, Cera has just turned 20 with an enviable list of hits and critical favorites behind him. www.cnn.com

Michael Cera's turning geekdom into gold
Move over dark-haired dreamboats - these days Hollywood is all about revenge of the nerds. And right now, Michael Cera is the awkward teen of the moment. Thanks to back-to-back critical successes, "Superbad" and "Juno," which grossed over $100 million each, Cera is now at the center of the Hollywood limelight - and on plenty of dorm room posters too. Why Won't Cera Even Acknowledge the Idea of an 'Arrested Development' Movie?
A couple months back, Jason Bateman appeared on Countdown with Keith Olbermann and not-so-subtly plugged the idea for a movie version of his sort of recently canceled show, Arrested Development. Like 30 Rock, It's Always Sunny in Philidelphia, and all good things on TV right now, AD was a genius program that still managed to tank in the ratings despite a rabid cult following. But while the rumor mill quickly churned all over the blogosphere (much of it Olbermann's fault, he's on top of the s

(In our second stab at our weekly installment of G.W.W.E [Guys We Want to Eff], we decided to take on the almost inappropriately young looking, but totally adorable, Michael Cera. If you were one of the few who watched, you will remember him at George Michael on Arrested Development. Or you may have fallen in love with him and his short shorts as quirky Pauli Bleeker in Juno. Whatever. You should totally know who he is, and even if you don’t one look at him and you will totally understand why he is

Which 'Arrested Development' Star Is Ready To Ditch Michael Cera? [Defamer Blind Items]
E!'s Kristin Dos Santos brings us more news on the suddenly snowballing Arrested Development movie, including the new information that the film is budgeted at $15 million (around what we'd estimate the theatrical ceiling is for this property, though homevid sales should be killer). However, her most interesting tidbit, divulged to her by a principal cast member wishing to remain anonymous, is what the reaction is to someone (cough Michael Cera cough) who's not so keen on the big screen transfer: "

London film festival: reviews of Nick and Nora, Gonzo, Largo and The Brothers Bloom
First up from my fairly random selection of films screened at this year's London film festival is Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist. Could this be the first film of its kind – a Michael Cera vehicle? The Arrested Development and Superbad star reprises his role as a nerdy teenager in this by-the-numbers rom-com which, at best, plays as a watered-down Juno. Entirely predictable, though amiable enough, the movie follows one night in the lives of two American highschoolers (ably played by Cera and Kat Dennin

The Music of Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist
Perhaps I'm stating the obvious, but the best soundtracks always take on the character of the movie they accompany, and vice versa, and that's certainly the case with Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist. The film, which follows the bridge-and-tunnel protagonists Nick (Michael Cera) and Norah (Kat Dennings) on a night of hijinks through the streets of Brooklyn and Manhattan, is packed full of blink-and-you-miss-it hipster cameos from current faves Andy Samberg, Seth Myers, John Cho and Kevin Corrigan. FINALLY! ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT THE MOVIE & LARK’s JASON BATEMAN MOMENT
Arrested Development is hands down the best show to ever appear on your TV screen. The trials and tribulations of the Bluth family are epically good, the writing is stellar and the acting perfect. If you are a fan of this show, then you can debate for hours with people over which episode is best: When Buster gets his hand eaten by a seal,  Tobias as never-nude, when Ben Stiller guest stars as a magician as Job tries to get back into the Alliance or really any show involving the bannana stand. Cera's Got A Secret
You wouldn't think that a high-profile young star could be making a movie that practically no one in Hollywood has heard about. But that's the case with Michael Cera and Paper Hearts. The star of Superbad and Juno has been quietly shooting the semi-documentary look at his life with girlfriend Charylne Yi, who played a pothead in Knocked Up. The film is being directed by newcomer Nicholas Jasenovec. No release date has been set for the comedy.    11/26/08 9:09 AM
