Republican Presidential candidate John McCain edged out his opponent, the Democratic Presidential nominee Barack Obama, in the Nielsen TV ratings, according to Reuters.
While almost 40 million viewers watched both men accept their party’s nomination, slightly more watched the Republican nominee, with 38.9 million tuning in to McCain, while 38.3 million watched Obama’s speech. McCain’s talked-about VP choice, Sarah Palin, attracted almost as many viewers as the Presidential nominees ̵
Obama rolls up his sleeves, hits hard (Politico)
Politico - TERRE HAUTE, Ind.—His shirtsleeves are rolled up higher, his tone is a bit more biting. Stirring up supporters at a fairgrounds show barn here with a sharp critique of John McCain, Barack Obama looks and sounds like a candidate who realizes time is running out.
With an expiration date in sight on a presidential campaign that once seemed interminable, Obama enters the final 58 days with the polls tight, his opponents appropriating his mantra of change, and the political deck reshuffled with a n
FNC Ties Palin's Speech Ratings As Top in Cable History
It's official — more people watched Sen. John McCain accept the Republican nomination that watched Sen. Barack Obama accept the Democratic nomination.
And just as the first two nights, more people watched the McCain speech last night on Fox News than any other network, broadcast or cable. FNC had 9.2 million viewers tune in last night at 10pmET, the same as the night before for Gov. Sarah Palin's speech.
That means that, just as last night, last night tied the FNC mark for highest-rated conven

Could Gov. Sarah Palin simply avoid the press? "Fox News Sunday" makes news with Chris Wallace's tough questioning
Barack Obama, John McCain and Joe Biden were on the Sunday morning shows. Sarah Palin wasn't -- and maybe she never will be.
McCain campaign manager Rick Davis told "Fox News Sunday" that Palin will do interviews on the campaign's terms and conditions. "We'll do things on our timetable," Davis said.
"Fox News Sunday" moderator Chris Wallace kept pushing on the issue, saying there were legitimate questions about whether Palin is ready to be commander-in-chief.

"This ultimately isn't a race between us and Sarah Palin,'' David Axelrod, chief strategist for the presidential campaign of Barack Obama, says today. "It's a race between Barack Obama and John McCain. They're the candidates for president."
But Axelrod does question Palin's limited exposure to the public in an interview aired on FOX News Sunday today. "She was basically an unknown...She hasn't sat down to...answer any substantive questions. All she's done is read a couple of speeches.''
"She's not scar
Frank Rich: McCain’s Hasty Vetting Of Palin All Too Reminiscent Of His Grave Dereliction Of Due Diligence On The War
Sarah Palin makes John McCain look even older than he is. And he seemed more than willing to play that part on Thursday night. By the time he slogged through his nearly 50-minute acceptance speech -- longer even than Barack Obama’s -- you half-expected some brazen younger Republican (Mitt Romney, perhaps?) to dash onstage to give him a gold watch and the bum’s rush.
Still, attention must be paid. McCain’s address, though largely a repetitive slew of stump-speech lines and worn G.O.P. or

Intervention was necessary. I’m inclined to support some form of intervention to prevent a long-term, much bigger crisis...We are not bailing out shareholders and investors and management. They were making a lot of money because of the lack of regulation.
EXCLUSIVE: North Hollywood Middle School Teacher Wonders Why McCain Campaign Is Dumb
Your editor’s sort-of relative teaches at Walter Reed Middle School in North Hollywood! We knew she taught in the Valley but did not know where, exactly — and she is right there, at the heart of the failure of the John McCain Campaign and its weird attempt to put some kind of picture related to Walter Reed Army Hospital behind McCain’s head during his big acceptance speech about his plane crash 40 years ago, even if all most of you saw, on the teevee, was yet another dumb “green scre
Sarah Palin's media war
Sarah Palin, with her shots across the bow of the mainstream media in her hugely popular acceptance speech in St. Paul this week, has opened a floodgate of media-bashing. ST. PAUL, Minnesota — After a week when Republicans blasted Democrats for being the same old tax-and-spend liberals and a star was born in the form of GOP vice-presidential candidate Governor Sarah Palin, Senator John McCain had a simple task Thursday night (September 4) on the final night of the Republican National Convention: seal the deal.

There has been no end of reaction to Sen. John McCain’s selection of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his vice presidential pick. After the initial "Sarah who?" response from those in the other 49 states, some commentators have decided it was brilliant to place a dynamic young woman at McCain’s side.

Sarah Palin's Pregnancy Decision Map
I found this online and thought that it was hilarious. I said from the beginning that Trig was her son, but she had poor decision making skills. Pray that John McCain lives to be a hundred if he is elected. And I'm sick of the phrase, "Hockey Mom."

Jon Voight Loves John McCain and Sarah Palin; Angelina Jolie, Not So Much
Jon Voight supplied the superstar celebrity quotient that came to the Republican National Convention this week. The only other four celebrity mega-star Republicans, Tom Selleck, wife Jillie Mack, Jerry Bruckheimer and Patricia Heaton, all stayed home tending to their humongous careers on the big and small screens.
Voight showed his GOP candidates some love, but when asked by the StarTribune about his famous daughter he replied, "Who knows

"We Support George McCain For President"
For our last post about the RNC (thank The Lord Jesus That Watches Over Conservatives for that!), we wanted to show you a video that we think summarizes the feelings on the floor of the entire convention. Those feelings, conveniently, can be melted down to one line: some Republicans are staunch in their support of Bush and McCain, while others just wanted America to forget about Junior...This video is one in which I, Scanner Brian, must, in the interest of full disclosure, admit I was participant (I g

Crowds turn out for Palin
"Sa-rah! Pa-lin!" came the chant at a Colorado Springs rally on Saturday moments before Republican nominee John McCain took the stage with Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, a woman who was virtually unknown to the nation just a week earlier. The day before, thousands screamed "Sa-rah! Sa-rah! Sa-rah!" at an amphitheater outside Detroit.
"Real change with a real woman," read one sign at a Wisconsin rally. "Hurricane Sarah leaves liberals spinning," cried another.
In the short time since McCain spirited the 44-year-

John McCain: Americans 'hurting'
John McCain, whose campaign has ridiculed rival Barack Obama as a "celebrity,'' made his 65th appearance on CBS News' Face the Nation this morning - a record for the Sunday show.
And, McCain conceded this about the American economy in a conversation with CBS host Bob Schieffer:
In their 65 meetings, McCain said, "you and I have probably never had a conversation when our economy was in greater difficulty than it is today... These are tough times now. America's best days are ahead of us. But we've got v

9/11, McCain, Obama truce: 24 hours
On the seventh anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks this week, the presidential campaign promises a respite from the thunderous back-and-forth of campaign warnings that someone is "dangerously unprepared'' to lead the nation and that someone doesn't get "the lessons of 9/11,'' and someone promising that he knows the world and won't let the nation get "hit again.''
Instead, Sens. John McCain and Barack Obama have promised a joint appearance at Ground Zero to deliver a common statement about the na
McCain, Obama, job-losses: 'Tough times'
"These are tough times... tough times,'' Republican John McCain said on the campaign trail in Wisconsin today, relaunching his bid for the White House with Sarah Palin by his side.
Democrat Barack Obama, waging his own campaign for the White House, maintained today that McCain is insensitive to the current turmoil of the American economy. "I don't think this is because John McCain is a bad person,'' Obama told his campaign audience today. "I just think he doesn't get it.'
