Madonna plays doctor with Gerard Butler
While filming RockandRolla, Guy Ritchie’s newest crime-comedy film, Gerard Butler, who stars in the film with Thandie Newton, came down with a major case of the flu. Ever the consumate professional, Butler fought the flu and went to work anyway, not impressing Newton. Ritchie’s wife, on the other hand, was happy to play doctor to Gerard’s patient. “I was so sick that she (Newton) said, ‘I know we have a love scene today, but you’re not putting that tongue in my mouth,&

Here’s the sound of Sarah Palin’s husband’s snowmobile when it won’t start," followed by a loud screeching noise. Was she joking? Did someone lie and tell Madonna that she was funny? How can she say it's not

Here she is threatening to kick Sarah Palin's ass and get her "off of my street." Course, after she says she wants to kick Palin's ass, she says she loves "her soul." Uh, yeah. What's wrong, Madonna? Not getting enough publicity already? She does this shit on purpose, knowing full well there are tons of cell phone cameras around and it's go

RocknRolla.
"Guy Ritchie reshuffles a worn-out deck in RocknRolla, a return to the shady stylings that characterized his earlier flicks Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch," writes Manohla Dargis in the New York Times. "The on-screen names have changed, and the edited rhythms have been somewhat slowed, but more or less everything else follows formula: pump up the volume, tilt the camera, flex the muscle, strut the stuff, bang bang, blah blah." "Alas, Guy Ritchie seems to have lost even what little touch

Review: ‘RockNRolla’ Returns Guy Ritchie to Form
From the visually arresting opening credits, Guy Ritchie's RockNRolla pulls the audience into its crazy fictional London which is inhabited by gangsters, a superstitious Russian investor, drug addicted rockers and a gang that can't quit shoot straight or put a car into reverse. The plot is a labyrinth that brings divergent ...

Toronto Interview: RocknRolla's Mastermind Guy Ritchie
It may have been a few months back that I screened RocknRolla, but I definitely haven't forgotten it. It's one of my favorite films of the past few months and that's all thanks to Guy Ritchie - the mastermind writer and director behind such previous cult classics as Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch. After the film premiered up in Toronto, I was lucky enough to catch up with Guy Ritchie for a chat about making movies, RocknRolla, Sherlock Holmes, and even Beowulf. Even if you're not that intere

And what do you know, after professing our secret love for Ms Hilton just 24 hours have passed and she’s kind of, sort of, already annoying us again. See we told you we were fickle. Paris is currently in the Capital on the hunt for a new B

Review: 'RocknRolla'
Guy Ritchie dials down the pace, soaking up the atmosphere of sweat and stale beer around a revolving cast of low-level thugs and underworld operators. By Sam Adams, Special to The Times October 8, 2008 Guy Ritchie's aggressively stylized, testosterone-addled movies careen from one steroidal encounter to the next. But in " RocknRolla," Ritchie dials down the pace, soaking up the atmosphere of sweat and stale beer around a revolvin

Review: ROCKNROLLA
Failed attempt by Guy Ritchie to regain his edge.

There's humour in Ritchie's RocknRolla retread
During his Madonna years of artistic penury, Guy Ritchie has come to resemble none other than Brad Pitt's mumbling scrapper Mickey O'Neil from Snatch (2000), Ritchie's last clever film. The more Ritchie has flailed away at dross like Swept Away and Revolver, the two movies that nearly sunk his career, the more unintelligible and irrelevant he has become. Can this really be the Guy whom people use to call the next Tarantino? But we must remember that Mickey was one of the funniest things about Snatch, even i

Review: “RocknRolla”
Years ago, Guy Ritchie used to make corkscrewy cockney capers like “Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels” and “Snatch.” Then something seems to have distracted him. Today, he’s once again a rude boy in top form as he was a decade ago, letting thrash again with the bloodily entertaining and well-titled “RocknRolla,” which is a sharp comedy as well as a punk-pulp spree. Don’t go if you can’t handle Brit slang. (”Grass” = informer.) As in his t

RocknRolla: Film Review
Alas, Guy Ritchie seems to have lost even what little touch he once had, his latest a typically convoluted saga about strangely named big- and little-time crooks that's fatally deficient in verve. Double-crosses, dirty curses and shiny firearms are all on incessant display, jazzed up by overblown rollercoaster cinematography, frantic editing and a (sufficiently rocking) soundtrack that gets very loud whenever something really, really crazy is about to happen. Ritchie's plotting is so perfunctorily intricate
