New Music Thursdays - Rumspringa "Goldmine"
We've decided we need themes to make it through our work week. Wednesdays seem to have been deemed hardcore day. And now, by process of default (and the pile of promos sitting next to me), we've decided to take a few moments this Thursday to name drop bands that might not be filling your inbox with press releases, but ones we feel worthy of your time nonetheless.
To be fair, Rumspringa is not unknown. In fact, they already have a video for this track and share a label (Cantora Records) with indie da
B.B. KING
On paper, the pairing of B.B. and T-Bone Burnett sounds like some overenthusiastic A&R man’s awful idea. Sophisticated blues master King is in no need of a rootsy makeover from Burnett, a producer who’s greatest success came with the bone-dry throwback Americana soundtrack to “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” But the unlikely musical marriage works. Burnett frees B.B. from commercial considerations and lets him do his still-potent thing on a selection of tunes by classic blues figures inc
TV this week: "Samantha Who?" and "Eli Stone" return, "My Own Worst Enemy" and "Crusoe" premiere
The week's most important program will be the third and final presidential debate between Sens. John McCain and Barack Obama. Coverage starts at 9 p.m. Wednesday, and CBS' well-respected Bob Schieffer is the moderator.
Best way to learn more about the candidates? Try PBS' "Frontline," which contrasts the two men in "The Choice." The two-hour program starts at 9 p.m. Tuesday. And it follows a fine "Nova" report at 8: "Space Shuttle Disaster" examines the Columbia cat

If You Can't Stand the Heat... You Might Die
Apparently, being a self-made chef does not make one immune to hot peppers. A chef in the UK suffered heart failure and died after eating a hot pepper on a dare. Mr Lee, of Edlington, Doncaster was apparently in perfect health and had just passed a medical at work, the opening of the Doncaster hearing was told.Cooking was one of his main interests and he went to his girlfriend Samantha Bailey's house to make a chilli. His father John Lee told the inquest: "He had a bet with Samantha'
I don’t usually chat about politics
But this video really got under my skin. I have not talked about my particular vote in this election or who I believe or don’t believe. I post little random tidbits because quite frankly I feel everyone should be allowed to vote for who they think would do the best job possible.
But then I see a video like this and it really disturbs me. No wonder our Country can not move forward because a lot of people are still living in the past. I feel very strongly that if we don’t learn from the past
Obama, flush with cash, buys up primetime network TV
Well it looks like Barack Obama can have the stage all to himself after all — and he doesn’t need John McCain to suspend his campaign to do it. The Democratic nominee for President is going the route of Matthew Lesko, Miss Cleo and Richard Simmons. He’s doing an infomercial.
Prime time
The Obama campaign is buying up the equivalent of waterfront property on the airwaves, purchasing 30-minute blocks of prime time on CBS and NBC. Expensive? Very. Although campaigns receive discounte
Obama knocks on doors, surprises voters
Barack Obama jetted back to Ohio today to spend three days preparing for his final debate with John McCain. But before he holed up with his advisers, the candidate began knocking on doors in Holland, Ohio, making his way through a neighborhood of modest ranch and split-level homes.
His move to the Toledo area comes as a new Ohio Newspaper poll puts the race at a dead heat, 48-46 for McCain. That's tightened considerably since the group's September survey had Obama down six points, 48-42.

McCain Reschedules Letterman; Obama Receives Network Bargain
So let's see if David Letterman will ease up on John McCain now that the Republican presidential candidate is slated to appear Thursday on The Late Show. I think Dave and his writers are right now making plans to further ridicule the guy. Dave's been merciless ever since McCain angered Letterman by cancelling at the last minute September 24th over the economic crisis, claiming that he was heading to Washington DC that second, and then sitting for a NYC interview with Katie Couric instead. (See David Letterm

McCain to Biden: Too early to celebrate
In response to a Joe Biden email telling supporters that the “McCain campaign is on the ropes,” the McCain camp responded that it is too early to celebrate.
“Being an underdog is a role that John McCain relishes and with 26 days left I don’t think Joe Biden should pop the champagne just yet,” said McCain spokesman Ben Porritt. “We are confident that as people make their decisions they will choose John McCain, a maverick with a real record over Barack Obama —an unknown comm
McCain campaigns for Obama at McCain event?
At this late stage in the election, Republican nominee for President John McCain would undoubtedly prefer not to promote rival Barack Obama at one of his own campaign rallies.
That’s what he had to do yesterday. More than once.
State of the campaign
There’s plenty of criticism that McCain brought this on himself because of his campaign’s tenor over the last two weeks. Then there are others who believe that questions about Obama’s past dealings with questionable characters are l

David Letterman doesn't trust 'squirrely' John McCain
At first, it didn't bother him, but after certain revelations, now it's on.
Review: 'Kids Pick the President'
Barack Obama and John McCain answer questions submitted by viewers aged 10 to 15.
Obama, “Say It To My Face”. If You Do You are Covered Under Obama’s Plan
Obama attacked John McCain in a recent TV interview, saying “Say It To My Face”. What is amusing about Obama’s response is that it is, in and of itself, an attack. Obama has been running a negative attack on McCain from day one. For him to criticize the McCain camp for any negative comment is laughable.
Obama has attacked every facet of the current administration and made every attempt to link McCain and the Bush Administration, no matter how different those policies are and no matter
“Pee Pants Over Here…”
When things get as bad as they were this week — what with the plunging world economy — laughter is indeed the best medicine. SNL been killin’m lately and Thursday’s special was no exception.
What’s crazy is the debates are so entertaining the writers at SNL barely need to alter the script from reality. I mean, McCain damn near did call Obama “pee pants.”
Enjoy.

Sarah Palin: Obama Has "Left Behind Even The Middle Ground When It Comes To The Issue Of Life" [Roe Vs. World]
Behind in the polls and perhaps looking for a way to connect with voters without resorting to Barack Obama "is palling around a terrorist" speech she gave last week, Gov. Sarah Palin has shifted her focus to abortion, referring to Senator Obama as a "radical" who has "left behind even the middle ground when it comes to the issue of life" at a rally in Jonestown, PA yesterday. "In times like these with wars and financial crisis, I know that it may be easy to forget even as deep and abiding a concern as the r
McCain set for makeup appearance on Letterman show

Reuters - He may be trailing his Democratic rival in the polls, but it looks like Republican U.S. presidential nominee John McCain is headed for a rapprochement with late-night TV comedian David Letterman.
John McCain “The Late Show With David Letterman” Appearance October 16
It looks like Senator John McCain and late night host David Letterman have kissed and made up. The Republican presidential candidate is scheduled to appear on The Late Show this Thursday, October 16.
The interview will be McCain’s first with Lettermane since the comic publicly expressed his disdain with the senator for pulling out of his September 24 appearance on the show.
SSenator McCain backed out of the appearance, citing a rush to fly to Washington to deal with the nation’s economic sit
