MSNBC Commentators Appalled At Palin Vetting Process (Except Pat Buchanan)

NBC - 3rd Sep 2008

Chris Matthews: Enh, what the hell. Here is a YouTube of Chris Matthews’s show in Charlie Brown’s Outdoor Park in Minneapolis: a fitting place for Chris Matthews, because his head is exactly the size and shape of Charlie Brown’s (large, spherical). Norah O’Donnell looks, zoiks, sort of indignant! Rachel Maddow makes terrible feedbacks on her microphone! Pat Buchanan is exasperated! Gene Robinson wonders where the other bodies are buried! We are going back to bed for two hours or so, good night/morning. MORE IN-FIGHTING AT MSNBC: Chris Matthews Vs. Keith Olbermann
There was yet another round of infighting at MSNBC yesterday between Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann while discussing Hillary Clinton’s upcoming speech.  Share: These icons link to social bookmarking sites where readers can share and discover new web pages. Email this article

Pundits Agree: Sarah Palin is a Freakin' Supernova
Sarah Palin bashed Barack Obama, which most pundits didn't expect, or advise. She also lobbed some decent punchlines at the talking head class, and for that, we appreciate her. But how did the folks who are paid to over-analyze these type of things, and who were on The Receiving End of her taunts, respond to her words? MSNBC's Keith Olbermann: "People who like this sort of thing will find this the sort of thing they like." MSNBC's Chris Matthews: "At no time, during her entir

Video: Chris Matthews Chokes Ellen, Feels her Up
Hardball host Chris Matthews is scheduled to appear on Ellen, and a sneak peek shows him trying his darndest to dance like she does but ultimately failing miserably. Not only that, but he reaches for Ellen DeGeneres' hand for a little twirl-around but winds up putting her in a headlock and then as they're falling down, he grabs onto her boobs for leverage.

Republican Analyst Mike Murphy Banned from MSNBC?
Last night, while analyst (and former McCain adviser) Mike Murphy was talking about how he believes the Clintons secretly back McCain — making the grand claim to Chris Matthews that Hillary would even vote for McCain — Keith Olbermann said in an open mike, “Let’s wrap him up,” reports Politico. Murphy will now focus on shows like “Meet the Press” and “Today” and is unlikely to appear during MSNBC’s convention night coverage, continues the report.. Sh

Chris Matthews: O'Reilly Has a Problem With Race
You'd think a guy who puts his foot in his mouth as often and deeply as Chris Matthews would have a little sympathy for Bill O'Reilly, but no. Last night, during a discussion of Michelle Obama's speech at the Democratic National Convention, the Hardball host rehashed O'Reilly's infamous comments about Sylvia's Restaurant and accused him of being the sort of conservative white man who would never vote for an African-American candidate. "Let`s talk about ethnicity," said Matthews. "I figured there`s abou

Oprah To (Maybe) Guest Star On 30 Rock [Dirt Bag]
Oprah! In final talks! To be on 30 Rock! She'll play herself in scenes with Tina Fey's character Liz Lemon. Will Arnett and Jennifer Aniston are also making appearances on the show this fall. The bad news? The season premiere doesn't air until October 30. [E!]Paris Hilton has "manipulated" the Toronto Film Festival to get more publicity for a documentary about herself. There were three screenings of the film Paris, Not France; now there is only one, because that Will "create more buzz." Hasn't her moment in

Vetting Sarah Palin: America Introduced to With Acceptance Speech (Video)
Sarah Palin has been under attack ever since John McCain announced that Sarah Palin would be his running mate.  Since that moment, there have been complaints that the vetting process was incomplete.  John McCain...

The conventions belong to cable news
THINGS weren't supposed to work this way. Last week's Democratic convention in Denver came off as a tightly scripted affair; all the drama resided in how the thing was covered on TV. It was the ultimate meta-event! Take, for example, the Matthews Meltdown. Discussing Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's speech on Tuesday, MSNBC host Chris Matthews lost it after colleague Keith Olbermann seemed to mock him with a hand gesture that suggested Matthews was talking too much. Hair askew, looking as if he had spent th

POLITICS: SARAH PALIN’S RNC SPEECH
Presidential candidate John McCain, 72, is the first Republican to share the ticket with a woman and only the second presidential candidate from a major party to do so. With all the recent media attention surrounding her, Palin told the RNC she is not going to Washington to seek the approval of the media but rather to “serve the people of this country”. 20 CommentsCOMMENT? Sarah Palin’s Baby Talk
A little slow at the beginning, but a very strong speech, well-delivered. It’s as if she’s done this speechmaking thing before. The crowd is certainly behind her, and the fiance is on the stage with the whole family—and with John McCain. It’s like they’re taunting the press and the Democrats to go on with the baby-talk. As I’ve said, I don’t think they believe this hurts them. Sarah Palin is hard to dislike… Share and Enjoy: Posted:

Palin Had Affair, Says Enquirer
Just as Sarah Palin was preparing to speak at the Republican convention in St. Paul (more on that momentarily), word bubbled up that the National Enquirer alleged in its print edition that John McCain's running mate had an affair with a business partner to her husband. With the sensational charge, the supermarket tabloid is gambling the measure of respect it has earned from more buttoned-down media in the wake of its reporting on John Edwards's affair with a campaign staffer, which was partially admitted to

Sarah Palin Questions Obama's Experience At Republican National Convention
ST. PAUL, Minnesota — A week ago, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin was barely a blip on the national political map. But with one biting address to the Republican National Convention Wednesday night, Palin rose above the din surrounding her low profile and emerged as one of the new stars of the Republican Party. On Tuesday night, President Bush praised presumptive Republican presidential candidate John McCain as a maverick unafraid to go his own way and who makes decisions that don't toe any part

And Now, A Word on Sarah Palin From Noted Political Pundit Lindsay Lohan
While all of Hollywood waits with bated breath to hear the reaction to VP pick Sarah Palin from the only actress who matters — her doppleganger, Tina Fey — headline-friendly Lindsay Lohan has decided to wade into the political waters, spouting off her own, unsolicited thoughts on the matter from her Myspace celebrity blog. Now that Palin has revealed that her 17-year-old daughter Bristol is pregnant, she's become fair game for the Us Weekly set (indeed, she's snagged that cover as well as the fr

McCain Surrogate: 'Us Weekly' Integral Cog in Liberal Media Sexism Machine [Clips]
newVideoPlayer("/HardballUsWeekly.flv", 506, 423,""); The attempt by the McCain campaign to deflect criticism of their insane choice of running mate by assailing the media is already ridiculous. Steve Schmidt whined to Howard Kurtz about hypothetical questions asked by journalists that have not resulted in stories printed anywhere. They boycotted Larry King because Campbell Brown dared ask mean questions of Tucker Bounds. Now their surrogates are grasping at the most sublimely ridiculous straw of all: when

Lesbian Scientistics: TV Characters on the issues
Last week, when Republican presidential nominee John McCain named Sarah Palin as his running mate, reporters and bloggers immediately began calling the Alaskan governor a Tina Fey look-alike. Just the mention of Fey in relation to the White House sent millions of people into fantasy overload as they began pondering what Fey's 30 Rock character, Liz Lemon, would make of being America's vice president. Fantasizing about a fictional character as vice president is ridiculous, of course. If you're going to f

A Mile High & Making History [Barack Obama]
A very frustrated Megan has been standing in line to get into Invesco Field for, well, three hours now, so consider this an open thread until her liveblog of Barack Obama's speech later this evening. MSNBC’S PRESIDENT ON IN-FIGHTING: I Understand They’re Human

But is anyone in danger of being fired? “Do I want them to have squabbles? No. But I understand they’re human,” MSNBC President Phil Griffin statesof recent controversies that have occurred with Keith Olberman, Chri

Keith Olbermann, Weatherman [Keith Olbermann]

Hil Redeems Self in Eyes of Pundits [Conventional Wisdom]
Did you watch Hillary Clinton's speech last night? She went on late, and long, but we watched. It was pretty good! She is much better at giving speeches than she used to be. We are depressed that no one does big angry barnstorming Jesse Jackson speeches anymore except the tiny white tomte from Cleveland but whatever. Her speech was good on its own merits. A well-delivered and pleasantly inoffensive series of uplifting syllables. The second it ended liberal favorite Keith Olbermann was all "she hit it out of

Anchor Movement: Network News to St. Paul, Keith Stays in NY
As insiders predicted last night in St. Paul, anchors are beginning the trip back from the Gulf Coast region to the RNC as coverage shifts away from Gustav. The three evening news anchors, CBS' Katie Couric, ABC's Charlie Gibson and NBC's Brian Williams, will be back tonight broadcasting from St. Paul. One person not returning from his Hurricane Gustav coverage location will be MSNBC's Keith Olbermann. Olbermann led coverage last night from New York, and will now co-anchor prime time convention cove
