'Notorious' rationalizes rapper's choices
The film starts with the mysterious — and still unsolved — 1997 murder of rapper Christopher Wallace, better known as Biggie Smalls or Notorious B.I.G. The film lionizes Biggie, attempting to depict a cheater and drug dealer — he even sells crack to a pregnant woman — as a martyr. Most noteworthy is the movie's stunning cinematography and powerful soundtrack. Notorious posits that Biggie was obsessed with acting like a man, which could explain his behavior.
