Perhaps inspired by Damien Hirst's Sotheby's earnings, this weekend will see a first -- a self-portrait by Kate Moss goes up for auction. The 2005-2006 painting, entitled "Who Needs Blood When You've Got Lipstick," is drawn in, um, lipstick and bears the title inscribed in blood by then-boyfriend (and Babyshambles frontman) Pete Doherty. Sorry guys, let's break our Kate Moss/Pete Doherty fatwa here for a second to report on some ridiculous news: A self-portrait of Kate Moss, drawn in 2005, will be auctioned off at Lyon & Turnbull in London on Saturday. Entitled Who Needs Blood When You Have Lipstick?, the painting is expected to fetch $60-80k, despite/because of the fact that the picture is composed of Moss' lipstick smears and splatters of ex-boyfriend and current junkie Pete Doherty's blood.

Here we see Kate’s artistic debut a self-portrait in lipstick and blood. The creation features Moss’ lip prints and Doherty’s blood stains on the canvas. It reads:

A Kate Moss self-portrait painted by the model in lipstick and inscribed in blood by Pete Doherty is expected to fetch between £30,000 and £40,000 at auction on Saturday (September 27).
Although it is not signed by Moss, Doherty has inscribed the 48in x 36in creation with the words "Who needs blood when you've got lipstick?".
The painting was purchased from Doherty's private collection, and comes with a receipt of sale written by the Babyshambles frontman on a napkin.
