Kate Beckinsale’s Toronto ‘Truth’
Kate Beckinsale joined the legions of stars debuting films at the Toronto Film Festival, as she walked the red carpet Monday night for her new movie, ‘Nothing But the Truth.’
In the film, directed by Rod Lurie, Kate plays a Washington D.C. reporter who reveals the name of an undercover CIA operative in a story, and gets thrown into the slammer when she won’t reveal her source.
The film co-stars Matt Dillon, Angela Bassett, Vera Farmiga, David Schwimmer, Noah Wyle and Alan Alda.

TIFF Review: Nothing But the Truth
The political drama has a good friend in Rod Lurie, who makes intelligent, earnestly liberal movies that are meaty and watchable, if not always great. He has a thing for strong female protagonists, too. He was first noticed for The Contender, about a female vice-presidential candidate being grilled about her past, and he created the lady-president TV drama Commander in Chief for ABC. His latest, a spiritual sister to The Contender, is the arbitrarily titled Nothing But the Truth, in which thorny ethical dil
SHORT TAKE: “Nothing But the Truth” (***1/2)
I gave a brief reaction to Rod Lurie’s “Nothing But the Truth” a few weeks ago, but I thought now would be a good time to fully explore what the film has to offer. Debuting tonight at the Toronto International Film Festival, “Truth” holds up on multiple viewings and, given the particulars of the narrative, one might be inclined to recommend a second look.
Lurie has built a modest career efficiently telling stories on the screen. He hasn’t knocked a critically acclaim
Nothing But The Truth Review, Toronto 2008
Writer/director Rod Lurie distorts the Valerie Plame scandal into a women in prison fantasy about the crazy lengths one suburban mom/high powered career woman will go to in order to protect a child. Can't wait to see what he does with the Sarah Palin story.
Anthony Edwards Back on "E.R.??"
When I read TV Guide's Will Keck reporting that Anthony Edwards would be appearing on the upcoming season of "E.R.," I needed to double-check what year it was.
That's right, kids. Producers may not have scored a George Clooney guest spot (yet!), but they are asking Mark Greene to make an appearance. In case you didn't know, Dr. Greene has been dead for about six years now. Hey, it's the last season -- anything goes!
Seriously though, don't expect the character to scrub in for surgery. Greene will app
Anthony Edwards to return to "ER" for one night only
Sure, his character died. But this is TV, so Anthony Edwards can return to "ER."
Edwards will play Dr. Mark Greene again in an episode to air Nov. 13 on NBC -- during the November sweeps ratings period, of course.
In new scenes, Greene will be seen with other characters from the long-running series' past. "ER" will end its 15-year run on NBC this coming season. Oscar-nominee Angela Bassett is coming aboard as Dr. Cate Banfield.
Edwards' return could mean we'll see more "ER&quo

OFF THE CARPET: Indies on the march
Maybe mid-way through the Toronto Film Festival, two things are strikingly clear: Darren Aronofsky has the goods with “The Wrestler” and Danny Boyle’s streak of successful versatility at the helm continues with “Slumdog Millionaire.”
Both films, which enjoy pre-Toronto success at Venice and Telluride respectfully, are also evidence that surprises will happen this time of year. And with an uncharacteriztically level playing field in Toronto this year, we should be thankful th
Chris Brown may be going…’Bone Deep’
What is Chris Brown up to? Well we just saw him win a MTV VMA, but, Chris is in final negotiations to appear with with Matt Dillon, Idris Elba and rapper T.I. in the Thriller “Bone Deep.” Chris is also discussing a role as executive produce.
The film, directed by John Lussenhop, revolves around a group of criminals who plan a major heist at a money depot, with two detectives hot on their trail. Brown will play one of the members of the heist crew.

'Crash: The Show' To Capitalize On Weekly Racist Cliffhangers [Things That Are Like Other Things]
newVideoPlayer("/crashstarz_def.flv", 506, 267,""); Out of the 2006 Oscars came many things, among them an unlikely two-horse sprint—one gay, one racist and mangled—between Brokeback Mountain and Crash for Best Picture. Crash would win, its tapestry of bigoted Angelenos embarking upon a futuristic death race for ultimate ethnic supremacy striking a chord in many Academy voters. Some time passed, and news came down the transom that Crash would become a weekly TV series on Starz. (While Brokeback

Hidden (Quasi) Gem - Tyler Perry’s Meet The Browns
I’ve watched almost every Tyler Perry product of the last few years, including a few plays, on DVD for work-related reasons. While House Of Payne is perhaps one of the worst television series ever created, Perry is steadily improving as a filmmaker in the feature film front.
Maybe it was just the incredible advantage of having Angela Bassett read your script, but Meet The Browns was actually a pretty good film. It’s a billion times subtler and quieter than Diary Of A Mad Black Woman or Daddy
Anthony Edwards returning to ER (!)
Filed under: ER, Celebrities, Casting, Reality-FreeRemember a while back when we talked about this being the last season of ER and producers were trying to get old cast members to come back for an episode of the show and we joked that they should find a way to get Anthony Edwards back on the show for an episode even though his character died?

Gail O’Grady, who starred as secretary Donna Abandando on NYPD Blue and mom Helen Pryor on American Dreams, will be joining the cast of Desperate Housewives in a recurring role this season. Angela Bassett will don the white coat for the final season of "ER."
NBC's medical drama announced that the 49-year-old actress, who won a Golden Globe for playing Tina Turner in 1993's "What's Love Got to Do With It," is joining the "ER" cast.
She'll play an attending physician who is returning to Chicago after doing tsunami relief work in Indonesia.
Her character's toughness hides a troubled past that will unfold during the season, producers say.

Anthony Edwards to the ER, STAT!
Anthony Edwards will be returning to NBC's long-running series "ER" to appear in an episode of the show's fifteenth and final season, TV Guide reports.
Edwards' character, Dr. Mark Greene, died of a brain tumor on the show back in 2002. But he is being brought back to appear in a flashback scene with new series regular Angela Bassett, TV Guide senior editor Will Keck reports in his column.
In the episode, Bassett's Dr. Cate Banfield enters the emergency room -- but not in a doctor capaci
Clooney denies "ER" rumors
George Clooney has dismissed rumours that he is to return for the final season of ER.
It had been reported that producers David Zabel and John Wells were hoping to bring back Clooney and other former cast members for the show's farewell season later this year.
Zabel reportedly said Dr Carter (Noah Wyle) had been confirmed for a four-episode stint and Dr Kovac (Goran Visnjic) was also expected to return.
But Clooney denied that he has been approached to reprise his role as pediatrician Dr Doug Ross
Kanye West Is A Fan Of Krystal Forscutt; In Other News, There Is No God
There are times, in the life of a fan, where one is confronted with a detail about one's beloved star that makes it difficult to keep on loving them. When I was 14, it was the news that Noah Wyle from e.r. was a smoker. A few years back, it was Beck's return to Scientology's embracing bosom. And, speaking of bosoms, the latest disappointment: Kanye West apparently thinks Big Brother "discovery" and Zoo Magazine "columnist" Krystal "Bazoongas" Forscutt is a bit of alright.Grammy award-winning rapper Kanye We
Anthony Edwards Rushes Back to 'ER'
NBC’s ER is coming to a close and production is rounding up the best actors and actresses who have graced the show’s previous seasons to come back for a guest stint. In fact, we previously reported that season 15 will be very star-studded, with stars such as Angela Bassett, who will play Dr. Cate Banfield, a replacement for Kari Matchett’s outgoing character, Dr. Skye Wexler. Moreover, her real-life husband Courtney B. Vance will be playing her on-screen hubby, Russell Banfield

Hollywood Does Valerie Plame
I've just seen "Nothing But the Truth," Rod Lurie's fictionalized version of the Valerie Plame story, which is so silly it's practically a children's book version of the exceedingly well-known facts, which I think we all got pretty sick of at least a year ago. The main characters, Kate Beckinsale as a reporter and Vera Farmiga as the Plame figure, spend so much time reading books to kids, dropping off their kids at school, and generally being Mothers with a capital M that the film has the aura of a Republic
