Was woman in R. Kelly case paid to get sex tape back?
An aide to R. Kelly allegedly paid off a woman to get her to return an incriminating sex videotape featuring the R.B singer, a judge was told in closed-door hearings last month.
The Atlanta woman, who is expected to testify she had a three-way sexual encounter with Kelly and an underage girl, was described by a source as having been in love with the singer. It is not clear how much Kelly's aide allegedly paid the woman.

According to the prosecution's so-called star witness, R. Kelly's relationship with a certain minor amounted to more than one videotape.
Lisa Van Allen testified Monday that, starting in late 1997 or early 1998, she participated in several threesomes with the R.B singer and the girl he's accused of making a sex tape with when she was only 13 or 14 years old.
Both the alleged victim, who's now 23, and Kelly - who has pleaded not guilty - have denied that they're the ones on the video.

Illinois court denies media motion in R. Kelly case
The Illinois Supreme Court has denied news organizations' emergency motion seeking sealed court records and transcripts related to R. Kelly's pornography case.
The court denied the motion without comment Monday. The 41-year-old R.B singer's trial is scheduled to start Friday.
The motion was filed by the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times and The Associated Press. A request by WBEZ to join the case was denied by the court as moot.

Six years after R.B singer R. Kelly’s indictment on child pornography charges, his defense was unveiled as his trial opened this morning: It wasn’t him on the sex tape. And the female on the tape was a paid prostitute.
Defense lawyer Sam Adam Jr. said the case was “simple.”
“RobeR. Kelly is not on that tape,” Adam told jurors. “I stand before you on May 20, 2008, to tell you [the alleged victim] is not on that tape.”

R. Kelly child pornography trial starts Friday
Troubled R.B star R. Kelly's child pornography trial is to start in Chicago, Illinois on Friday (09May08) after a series of delays and hold-ups.
Jury selection will begin six years after Kelly was initially charged with having sex with a minor.
The charges were prompted by a videotape allegedly showing the singer/songwriter having sex with a young teenager.

Jurors in the R. Kelly child pornography trial have been told they'll have to watch an explicit sex tape.
As opening statements got underway in Chicago, Illinois on Tuesday (20May08), prosecutors told the jury members the taped evidence they'll be shown features an "underage child performing sex acts that you have never seen before."

Witness To Claim Kelly Paid Her Off
High drama is on tap for the R. Kelly pornography trial on Wednesday. CBS 2 has learned there's a lot more to the story to be told by a woman claiming to have had sex with Kelly and the alleged teen victim. CBS 2 Chief Correspondent Jay Levine has exclusive details.

Questions linger about what, if anything, a man who made a surprise call to defense attorneys might be able to say to help R. Kelly at his child pornography trial.
Judge Vincent Gaughan abruptly adjourned Wednesday afternoon after an attorney for the R.B singer said he received a call from the potential defense witness. The judge said attorneys needed time to depose the mystery man.
Gaughan said the man could potentially impeach someone else's testimony, but he didn't elaborate.
