Depp will play the Mad Hatter in Burton's 'Alice,' says the Hollywood Reporter, continuing his string of collaborations with the director which include 'Sweeney Todd,' 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' and 'Edward Scissorhands.' Depp joins Mia Wasikowska (Alice) and sketch-comedy man Matt Lucas (Tweedledee and Tweedledum) in the film, expected out in 2010. Back in July, we found an article about the possibility of Johnny Depp appearing in Tim Burton’s upcoming version of Lewis Carroll’s “Alice in Wonderland,” and now it’s official: Depp will be a part of the project. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Depp will play the Mad Hatter. Australian actress Mia Wasikowska is set to play Alice, with Matt Lucas starring as Tweedledum and Tweedledee. Although I usually ignore rumors, I figured Depp would make at least some sort of appearance in the film.
