Sarah Palin: The National Enquirer ran a story alleging that Sarah Palin had an affair with the business partner of her husband's. McCain's campaign released the statement:

“The smearing of the Palin family must end. The allegations contained on the cover of the National Enquirer insinuating that Governor Palin had an extramarital affair are categorically false. It is a vicious lie.”

“The efforts of the media and tabloids to destroy this fine and accomplished public servant are a disgrace. The American people will reject it.”

“Sen. McCain and Governor Palin look forward to discussing the issues that Americans care about, fixing broken government, creating jobs, making our country energy independent and securing the peace for the next generation by bringing the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to a victorious end.”

“Legal action will be considered with regard to this disgraceful smear.”

In fact, the pundits and the politicians should stay out of all issues concerning any woman's uterus. Too bad the Republicans are unable, or unwilling, to see the irony in this. Last night on The Daily Show, Samantha Bee knocked it out of the par

Heart Object To McCain Campaign's Use Of 'Barracuda' During Republican National Convention
In the past week, Republican presidential candidate John McCain and GOP vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin have managed to rile two classic rock outfits, Van Halen and Heart, who both claim the Arizona senator's campaign didn't ask their permission to use their songs. First, on August 29, just minutes before revealing Palin as his running mate, McCain strutted out onto a stage in Dayton, Ohio, as Van Halen's inspirational 1991 track "Right Now" boomed through the speakers. Hours later, the band's public

Heart Doesn’t Want the Republican Party Using “Barracuda” As Sarah Palin’s Theme Song
Apparently the Republicans have gotten into the habit of blaring Heart’s “Barracuda” — which I rock on in Guitar Hero, btw — in reference to Sarah Palin. This is a problem for the girls of Heart, who basically hate everything Sarah Palin stands for. They emailed the McCain/Palin campaign on Thursday afternoon, asking that they no longer use their song, but then it was played again on Thursday night. “The Republican campaign did not ask for permission to use the song,

McCain TV Ratings Beat Obama in Preliminary Numbers
Presidential candidate John McCain's acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention drew more television viewers than his rival Barack Obama attracted at the Democratic party's event last week, according to preliminary ratings from Nielsen Media Research. Across all broadcast networks Thursday, Sen. McCain’s speech ended the night with a 4.8 rating/7 share, compared to Sen. Obama’s 4.3/7 average, according to overnight numbers from metered households in 55 U.S. markets measured by Nielsen. The

The Sarah Palin Bashing Backlash
By not even broaching the Sarah Palin subject, Oprah won't subject herself to the aftermath of criticism — since by refusing to book the Republican VP, the talk show queen won't put herself in the awkward situation of celebrating the first woman on a Republican ticket while also pointing out she's a lunatic. But Us Weekly did not take that route. Like Oprah, Us is usually fine sticking with celebrities and staying out of politics. But like Oprah, Us couldn't resist. Oprah backed Ob

Heart Lash Out At McCain Campaign’s Use of “Barracuda”
Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin has the nickname “Barracuda,” which inspired the use of the Heart song of the same name during Palin’s speech at the RNC on Wednesday night. The reviews are in: John McCain loses oratorical contest
If we're having just an oratorical contest, John McCain loses. Or so indicated many TV commentators Thursday night after McCain accepted the presidential nomination at the Republican National Convention. McCain's reviews weren't as good as Democratic challenger Barack Obama's (no surprise there, given that Obama has been lauded as a great speaker). But McCain's notices weren't as good as running mate Sarah Palin's, either. Some of the sharper reviews came on Fox News Channel. Fox News contributor Karl R
