Computer giant Microsoft has denied reports they pulled their advertising campaign, starring Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates, off the air early following heavy criticism.
The commercials, which only debuted two weeks ago, were reportedly designed to counteract Apple’s ongoing marketing strategy by using the funnyman and the Microsoft chief in two advertisements.
Frank Shaw from Microsoft explained, “All along we said we were having a teaser campaign. We’re getting ready to start the seco

Gates-Seinfeld Microsoft Ads Pulled Cause They Sucked?

Frank Shaw, Microsoft’s spokesman is denying that the ads were taken off the air cause they sucked. He says,

Microsoft Pulls Bill Gates Jerry Seinfeld Ads
The ads were panned by critics, but the company is saying this is not the reason the ads are being pulled. Microsoft spokesman Frank Shaw stated, “All along we said we were having a teaser campaign. We’re getting ready to start the second phase. This was the plan all along.”
However, he also tells Valleywag that “People would have been happier if everyone loved the ads, but this was not unexpected.”
Seinfeld reportedly received $10 million for the spots, which were said to
Jerry Seinfeld Microsoft ads scrapped; company says ‘We meant to do that’
The pointless and ire-inducing Microsoft ads featuring Jerry Seinfeld and billionaire founder Bill Gates reminding you how much of your time is wasted using the all too fallible operating system have been withdrawn from the airwaves. The ads featured the two in everyday situations that were meant to show that Microsoft is hip and approachable but just managed to come off as lame.
It is widely believed that the ads, which cost Microsoft a reported $30 million, including Seinfeld’s $10 fee, were pulle
Seinfeld, Gates Microsoft Ads Yanked
The poorly received Microsoft ads featuring Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates have disappeared, and the reason why is a matter of dispute.
Microsoft Dumps Jerry Seinfeld
Crispin Porter, from the ad agency Crispin Porter & Bogusky, said Microsoft currently has no plans to air a third commercial featuring Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates, amid criticism that the ads made Microsoft look even more out of touch with consumers. Instead, Microsoft will accept the $10 million loss paid to Seinfeld, and go with anti-mac ads for the remainder of their $300 million ad campaign budget. Why didn’t they do anti-mac ads in the first place? We think Bill is trying to get past his ge
Microsoft Dumps Jerry Seinfeld for Pharrell and Eva Longoria
Less than a month ago, Microsoft announced that it had tapped comedian Jerry Seinfeld for its "hip" new Windows Vista ads (also featuring Microsoft chairman Bill Gates) that were going to finally stand up to Apple's wildly popular "I'm a Mac, I'm a PC" commercials. But now, the Wall Street Journal, which originally broke the story, reports that Windows is moving into "phase two" of their $300 million ad campaign—and the 54-year-old comic has gotten the boot.
Perhaps realiz
Bill Gates commercials with Jerry Seinfeld canceled, but he’s still filthy rich
Those awful ads that feature Bill Gates and Jerry Seinfeld, and reveal how out of touch with consumers Microsoft is, are supposedly canceled. While Microsoft is adamant that Seinfeld has not been dropped because of the backlash to the ads from consumers, it is all a little too coincidental don’t you think?
The next set of ads are set to counter Apple’s very successful ‘I’m a PC’ advertising campaign. Taking a swipe at Apple, the Microsoft campaign will use an engineer who resemble
Jerry Seinfeld's Microsoft Ads Pulled
Microsoft announced today that their two commercials, featuring Bill Gates and Jerry Seinfeld, will be pulled off the air due to intense criticism. They'll be replaced by what Microsoft is calling Plan B: a commercial featuring Gates, Eva Longoria, Pharrell Williams, and Deepak Chopra.
But rather than be offended by the anti-ad blogs and YouTube comments, rep for Microsoft Frank Shaw says, "All along we said we were having a teaser campaign. We're getting ready to start the second phase. This was the
Jerry Seinfeld, Bill Gates Yield Stage To Real Windows Users
SEATTLE (AP) - TV viewers can return to their favorite programs without fear of seeing Bill Gates shaking his tushie now that Microsoft Corp. has retired a bizarre two-week-old ad campaign featuring the software giant's chairman with comedian Jerry Seinfeld.
Bloggers and online media have suggested that the Redmond, Wash.-based company yanked the Seinfeld ads after they were poorly received. The ads show Gates and Seinfeld trading banter at a mall shoe store and while living with a suburban family, trying
Microsoft says goodbye to Seinfeld
So does this mean Jerry Seinfeld got $10 million for doing two ads?
The New York Times and several other outlets today are reporting that Microsoft is entering 'phase two' of its new Windows ad campaign that started off featuring Bill Gates and Jerry Seinfeld. And 'phase two' means no more Seinfeld. Microsoft has said that the Seinfeld-Gates ads were merely meant to spark conversation, not launch a long-term ad strategy.

Microsoft announcement tomorrow: No more Seinfeld ads! [Breaking]
Remember those awful Microsoft ads with Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates? Well, now you can forget them. Microsoft flacks are desperately dialing reporters to spin them about "phase two" of the ad campaign — a phase, due to be announced tomorrow, which will drop the aging comic altogether. Microsoft's version of the story: Redmond had always planned to drop Seinfeld. The awkward reality: The ads only reminded us how out of touch with consumers Microsoft is — and that Bill Gates's company has millio
Microsoft Kowtows to Tech Blogs, Terminates Seinfeld
Jerry Seinfeld will probably collect his full $10 million fee from Microsoft, even though the software giant has, effective immediately, killed all of his ad spots and promises no new ones. The ads, which featured Seinfeld and Microsoft wonderboy Bill Gates palling around shoestores and strangers' homes, got a collective thumbs down from the tech blogs, while the advertising industry halfheartedly got behind them. Nobody, however, seems to have asked the consumer what they thought of the ads, and reall
Microsoft Drops Seinfeld
In what has turned out to be an odd marketing ploy with a lifespan of a mere two weeks, Microsoft has decided to pull the plug on the ads featuring Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates “relating to average people”. This is clearly a case where Microsoft just felt the need to grab some headlines for a few weeks. In that effort, I offer up a big congrats to the standard oil-esque software omnipus (that’s octopus with infinite legs). But was this originally inteded to be a short-run two week campa

Microsoft ad agency confirms: New Seinfeld ad produced, yet not running [Advertising]
The doublespeak coming from Microsoft and its ad agency, Crispin Porter & Bogusky, in the wake of its "icebreaker" ad campaign featuring Bill Gates and Jerry Seinfeld, is amazing. Yesterday, Valleywag learned that Microsoft PR was revving up a spin campaign to go along with the ad campaign. Its aim: To make sure no one interpreted its shift to a series of anti-Mac ads as an abandonment of the Seinfeld spots. But Crispin Porter tells Gizmodo that it did, indeed, have another Seinfeld and Gates spot already p

Microsoft has Eva and Pharrell take Jerry’s spot.
Producer Pharrell Williams and actress Eva Longoria are set to replace Jerry Seinfeld in the new Microsoft ads, less than two weeks after Jerry’s ad debuted.
The Seinfeld actor, who appears in the computer software giant’s latest promos alongside Microsoft founder Bill Gates, was paid an estimated $10 million to endorse the brand. Jerry had two spots that were filmed: one featuring the pair chatting while out shoe shopping, and another showing the two talking at a blue collar family’s dinner tabl
