Jerry Seinfeld Microsoft ads scrapped; company says ‘We meant to do that’
The pointless and ire-inducing Microsoft ads featuring Jerry Seinfeld and billionaire founder Bill Gates reminding you how much of your time is wasted using the all too fallible operating system have been withdrawn from the airwaves. The ads featured the two in everyday situations that were meant to show that Microsoft is hip and approachable but just managed to come off as lame.
It is widely believed that the ads, which cost Microsoft a reported $30 million, including Seinfeld’s $10 fee, were pulle

Microsoft announcement tomorrow: No more Seinfeld ads! [Breaking]
Remember those awful Microsoft ads with Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates? Well, now you can forget them. Microsoft flacks are desperately dialing reporters to spin them about "phase two" of the ad campaign — a phase, due to be announced tomorrow, which will drop the aging comic altogether. Microsoft's version of the story: Redmond had always planned to drop Seinfeld. The awkward reality: The ads only reminded us how out of touch with consumers Microsoft is — and that Bill Gates's company has millio
Microsoft Upgrades Itself (Sort Of) [Life Of A Hustler]
In a surprising move, Jerry Seinfeld has been ousted as Microsoft pitchman in favor of a much, much more recognizable face... Pharell Williams of the Neptunes! OK, maybe this is something of a lateral move for Microsoft.
Seinfeld got the axe after a series of fairly bizarre ads that I think I liked. Maybe that's part of the problem there. The one where Bill Gates and Jerry Seinfeld went shoe-shopping really had very little to do with Microsoft, and seemed to be a rather blatant attempt to counter
Seinfeld, Gates Microsoft Ads Yanked
The poorly received Microsoft ads featuring Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates have disappeared, and the reason why is a matter of dispute.
Microsoft Denies Jerry Seinfeld Ads Were Pulled
Computer giant Microsoft has denied reports they pulled their advertising campaign, starring Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates, off the air early following heavy criticism.
The commercials, which only debuted two weeks ago, were reportedly designed to counteract Apple’s ongoing marketing strategy by using the funnyman and the Microsoft chief in two advertisements.
Frank Shaw from Microsoft explained, “All along we said we were having a teaser campaign. We’re getting ready to start the seco

Microsoft Copping to $10 Million Mistake?
Oh, this is embarrassing. Valleywag is reporting that Microsoft is set to pull the plug on its $10 million ad campaign starring Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates. Or, rather, to announce that the campaign is entering a "new phase" -- one that presumably won't draw get written off as a "misfire" and the "worst TV ad ever."

Seinfeld and Gates ads are ending
Microsoft is preparing to pull its TV ads featuring comedian Jerry Seinfeld and Microsoft's co-founder and chairman Bill Gates.
Microsoft spokesman Frank Shaw said the end of the Seinfeld ads was planned well in advance, and wasn't coming in response to any criticism of the spots. "All along we said we were having a teaser campaign," he said. "We're getting ready to start the second phase. This was the plan all along."
The news, broken this afternoon by Valleywag, comes just days after Microsoft air
Microsoft Dumps Jerry Seinfeld
Crispin Porter, from the ad agency Crispin Porter & Bogusky, said Microsoft currently has no plans to air a third commercial featuring Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates, amid criticism that the ads made Microsoft look even more out of touch with consumers. Instead, Microsoft will accept the $10 million loss paid to Seinfeld, and go with anti-mac ads for the remainder of their $300 million ad campaign budget. Why didn’t they do anti-mac ads in the first place? We think Bill is trying to get past his ge
Microsoft vs. Apple Fight Enters New Round
NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- After only two weeks, Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates' rambling conversations about nothing have been jettisoned for a new campaign in which Microsoft tries to rebuild an image that has long been battered by rival Apple.

Microsoft Drops Seinfeld
In what has turned out to be an odd marketing ploy with a lifespan of a mere two weeks, Microsoft has decided to pull the plug on the ads featuring Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates “relating to average people”. This is clearly a case where Microsoft just felt the need to grab some headlines for a few weeks. In that effort, I offer up a big congrats to the standard oil-esque software omnipus (that’s octopus with infinite legs). But was this originally inteded to be a short-run two week campa

Definitely a better tactic than the bizarro Jerry Seinfeld / Bill Gates mess they were running...
...it's Microsoft's new ad campaign!
I feel like someone should make a spoof of this called "I'm a peepee!"
I Love A Condiment With Booze In It!
There's a second Microsoft commercial starring Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates. This time, the two are staying with a "real" American family to learn about how they live. Neither Seinfeld nor Gates can act, per se, and they don't make me want to use Microsoft's products, but I find these commercials to be really charming:
"It's a leather giraffe from Cabo San Lucas. That's all you there is to know."

Microsoft ad agency confirms: New Seinfeld ad produced, yet not running [Advertising]
The doublespeak coming from Microsoft and its ad agency, Crispin Porter & Bogusky, in the wake of its "icebreaker" ad campaign featuring Bill Gates and Jerry Seinfeld, is amazing. Yesterday, Valleywag learned that Microsoft PR was revving up a spin campaign to go along with the ad campaign. Its aim: To make sure no one interpreted its shift to a series of anti-Mac ads as an abandonment of the Seinfeld spots. But Crispin Porter tells Gizmodo that it did, indeed, have another Seinfeld and Gates spot already p
Jerry Seinfeld's Microsoft Ads Pulled
Microsoft announced today that their two commercials, featuring Bill Gates and Jerry Seinfeld, will be pulled off the air due to intense criticism. They'll be replaced by what Microsoft is calling Plan B: a commercial featuring Gates, Eva Longoria, Pharrell Williams, and Deepak Chopra.
But rather than be offended by the anti-ad blogs and YouTube comments, rep for Microsoft Frank Shaw says, "All along we said we were having a teaser campaign. We're getting ready to start the second phase. This was the
Microsoft has Eva and Pharrell take Jerry’s spot.
Producer Pharrell Williams and actress Eva Longoria are set to replace Jerry Seinfeld in the new Microsoft ads, less than two weeks after Jerry’s ad debuted.
The Seinfeld actor, who appears in the computer software giant’s latest promos alongside Microsoft founder Bill Gates, was paid an estimated $10 million to endorse the brand. Jerry had two spots that were filmed: one featuring the pair chatting while out shoe shopping, and another showing the two talking at a blue collar family’s dinner tabl
