Jeffrey Tambor: Last winter, Jeffrey Tambor, the actor who played the scheming patriarch in Fox’s brilliant, underwatched and now-cancelled Arrested Development appeared on The Ron & Fez Show on XM radio, saying that there was a “real push” to get a movie version of the TV series made. Then this summer, lead actor Jason Bateman also seemed to confirmed that the wheels were in motion for the a film version of Arrested. A hefty container of water was thrown on the fire last month when Michael Cera disavowed any knowledge of such a film, and expressed doubt that Arrested fans would even want to see an Arrested movie. Now from Collider comes the latest twist in the creation of the Arrested Development movie. Steve “Frosty” We Read full story at /Film

Why Won't Cera Even Acknowledge the Idea of an 'Arrested Development' Movie?
A couple months back, Jason Bateman appeared on Countdown with Keith Olbermann and not-so-subtly plugged the idea for a movie version of his sort of recently canceled show, Arrested Development. Like 30 Rock, It's Always Sunny in Philidelphia, and all good things on TV right now, AD was a genius program that still managed to tank in the ratings despite a rabid cult following. But while the rumor mill quickly churned all over the blogosphere (much of it Olbermann's fault, he's on top of the s

London film festival: reviews of Nick and Nora, Gonzo, Largo and The Brothers Bloom
First up from my fairly random selection of films screened at this year's London film festival is Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist. Could this be the first film of its kind – a Michael Cera vehicle? The Arrested Development and Superbad star reprises his role as a nerdy teenager in this by-the-numbers rom-com which, at best, plays as a watered-down Juno. Entirely predictable, though amiable enough, the movie follows one night in the lives of two American highschoolers (ably played by Cera and Kat Dennin

Oct. 12 (Bloomberg) -- Walt Disney Co.'s comedy ``Beverly Hills Chihuahua'' repeated as the top film in U.S. and Canadian theaters for a second weekend, earning $17.5 million and beating out the debuts of a horror film and spy drama. ``Quarantine'' from Sony Corp.'s Screen Gem's unit was second with $14.2 million, box-office tracker Media By Numbers LLC said. Time Warner Inc.'s ``Body of Lies'' earned $13.1 million to take third place. ``Chihuahua'' pushed Disney's Buena Vista studio earnings this year

New Mix-Tapes Inspired By ‘Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist,’ PLUS: Why Michael Cera Totally Wants To Run Away With Us
Like every other gal with a pulse, we’ve had a thing for Michael Cera (pictured above with his costar, Whatsherface) ever since we caught our first glimpse of his pale, Canadian bodice and thin, hawk-like proboscis on Arrested Development. And after watching Cera perfect the role of Awkward/Sensitive Guy Friend in Superbad and Juno respectively, our admiration has grown steadily, evolving from an innocent schoolgirl crush to a dangerous, psycho-stalker level obsession. (Think “Stage 5 Clinger

Vince Vaughn is going on a ‘Couples Retreat’….
The movie follows four couples who go to a tropical island resort. While one couple is there to work on their marriage, the others are there to play but soon discover that participation in the resort’s couples therapy is not optional. Vince hatched the idea for “Couples Retreat,” as well as the 2006 comedy hit “The Break-Up.” Image via WENN Related Post Confirmed: A Sequel to Sex and the City, The Movie!! Review: “Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist”
Based on the novel by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan. The plot: Nick (Cera) and Norah (Dennings) spend an incredible chaotic but eventually magical night in New York City. Our thoughts: Peter Sollett’s “Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist” has enough rhythm to maintain the audience’s attention for 90 minutes, but the film definitely lacks the surprise factor we’ve come to appreciate in this new genre of teenage comedies. It’s a shame, really, because the movie holds plenty of unexploited po

`Superbad' star Cera proves nice guys finish first (AP)
AP - Michael Cera always seems to be pining for something: booze and a popular classmate in "Superbad"; the sly soul mate he impregnated in "Juno"; a lovely but forbidden cousin in TV's "Arrested Development."

Remember Mystery, from VH1's The Pick Up ... [The Pick Up Artist]
Remember Mystery, from VH1's The Pick Up Artist? We got an awesome email from a male reader who was out in LA last night with his two female roommates. He went to go to the bathroom and when he returned, Mystery was hitting on the two girls, and trying to perform magic tricks that reminded our reader more of Gob from Arrested Development, than of a professional Casanova. He confronted Mystery on his trademark "neg" strategy, in which he tries to insult women to lure them in. Mystery denied that, and then aw

Michael Cera: when geeks get the girl (Reuters)
Reuters - In a little more than a year, Michael Cera has built a movie career and loyal fan base playing geeky high school heroes -- zits and all -- who somehow get the girls. So it must feel good, being a sexy leading man in Hollywood -- especially when you're really kind of geeky.

Nick & Norah's Realistic Portrayal Of Teen Sex [Finger On The Pulse]
Prescient soothsayer Richard Lawson over at Gawker was totally right in his irrational hatred of Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist: it is a quarterlifer's false idealization of his or her generic suburban teenhood. However, having seen the movie I need to defend one instance where Nick and Norah becomes a completely realistic portrayal of New Jersey-bred nerds. When Nick and Norah finally consummate their movie-long sexual tension, their hookup is exactly the the way two indie rock obsessed 17-year-olds wo

G.W.E.E.! Michael “Super Adorable” Cera
(In our second stab at our weekly installment of G.W.W.E [Guys We Want to Eff], we decided to take on the almost inappropriately young looking, but totally adorable, Michael Cera. If you were one of the few who watched, you will remember him at George Michael on Arrested Development. Or you may have fallen in love with him and his short shorts as quirky Pauli Bleeker in Juno. Whatever. You should totally know who he is, and even if you don’t one look at him and you will totally understand why he is

Amy Poehler's baby boy was not quite ready for prime-time either, arriving on Saturday during the daylight hours, sources tell TVGuide.com. As a result, NBC's Saturday Night Live is reportedly hustling to rewrite portions of tonight's show. ‘Beverly Hills Chihuahua’ leads Friday b.o.

Last week’s champ “Eagle Eye” slipped to second place but still went strong, pulling in $5.5 million. D.J Caruso’s Shia LaBeouf action vehicle reached a domestic total of $42.4 million. Debuting in third place with $4.4 million was Peter Sollett’s “Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist,” a romance in which Michael Cera and

Why I Already Irrationally Hate Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist [Rants]
So that movie Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist is out today, and look! It's getting very good and pretty good reviews! Well that's good for little Michael Cera and Kat Dennings, the fawn-faced stars of the emo-queercore-fake New York City romp film about two Stars-crossed lovers who enjoy a wild night on the LES in pursuit of good music, good lovin', and a drunk girl. Yeah. It's nice. I haven't seen it yet, but I already fucking hate it. Why do I hate it? How could I possibly hate a movie that featu

Hold Onto Your Vodka Martini: '90210' Creators Demote Lucille Bluth [BluthWatch 08]
The Beverly Hills, 90210 franchise has historically not been kind to the elder relatives of its nubile teens, which is why we were a little confused when producers of the new 90210 reboot announced that they'd be casting not just parents but a grandmother. Would there really be room on the show for a regular over sixty, we wondered? Then, they hired Jessica Walter for the role and announced she'd essentially be reprising her Lucille Bluth character from Arrested Development, and suddenly all the Shannens an

‘Sex Drive’ Star Clark Duke Talks Acting
Photo: Getty ImagesPart teen sex comedy, part anarchic road trip, Sex Drive has a punchy energy that makes it one of the funniest high-school movies since the original American Pie. A big part of its success is thanks to up-and-comer Clark Duke, who plays the wryest corner of a love triangle opposite Josh Zuckerman and Amanda Crew. Duke may still be best known for the hilarious Web series Clark and Michael (Cera, that is), but he seems poised to drink Jonah Hill's milkshake, with upcoming roles opposit
