In the first 3 months of this year, there's been something of a stampede of contributors exiting the crowdsourced online encyclopedia, leading to a net loss of 49,000, analysis shows, compared to just 4,900 in the same period a year earlier. And some blame new restrictions meant to curb Vandalism in a community where one of the rules used to be...

But it could have...
Bruin Campus Mascot Statue Vandalized with McDonald's, USC Colors: PHOTO
Breaking news out of Westwood , where the UCLA Bruin statue has been found splattered with gaudy ketchup- and mustard-colored paint. The protective casing, which is applied each year in the week leading up to the UCLA-USC rivalry football match, was apparently easily cut through by the vandals. We’ve been saying for years what they need is an advanced infrared laser defense shield around the statue, not the flimsy picnic tarp they have been using for protection. Maybe now they’ll...

Anti-Gay Hate Crimes Up 11 Percent in 2008. Because There Were More? Or More Reports?
We're always skeptical of official numbers on Hate crime incidents, since these figures rely on the Crimes being reported , something that might not happen because a victim is shamed into silence or an arresting officer fails to mark the proper box. That said, the FBI's latest report says anti-gay Hate Crimes — whether Vandalism or attacks on a person — were up 11 percent last year, compared to religious-based Hate Crimes increasing 9 percent, and race-based Crimes down...
