How (And Why) Did George C. Wolfe Get Involved With Nights In Rodanthe?
This weekend brings Nights in Rodanthe to theaters. It's an unapologetic tearjerker, a love story starring Richard Gere and Diane Lane (click here for Rex Reed's review), based on a Nicholas Sparks novel and directed by...George C. Wolfe?
It's certainly not an obvious partnership. After all, Mr. Wolfe has made his reputation as being an edgy and inventive playwright (The Colored Museum, Spunk, Jelly's Last Jam), theater director (he staged Tony Kushner's Angels in America for which he won the Tony), and p
'Nights in Rodanthe' swamped by sappy romance
There's still plenty of charm in romantically pairing Richard Gere and Diane Lane. The "Unfaithful" cast mates can still play flirty and cute with the best of them.
And the stark, windswept beauty of North Carolina's Outer Banks makes a grand setting for a big-screen romance.
Ah, but the corn grows high in those sand dunes in Nicholas Sparks' "Nights in Rodanthe." The movie version of "Nights" begins with such promise before it drowns in the romance novelist's sentimentality.

Box Office Predictions (September 26-28)
The big opening film this weekend will be Shia LaBeouf’s action/thriller, Eagle Eye. LaBeouf teams up again with D.J. Caruso hoping they can recapture the success they had with Disturbia. There’s no doubt Eagle Eye will open at #1 in the box office this weekend… but how much will it make? Also starring are Michelle Monoghan, Rosario Dawson, and Billy Bob Thornton. Opening in over 3,000 locations, the question is whether or not Eagle Eye can top the $30 million mark.

Film Review: 'Nights in Rodanthe' for the sentimental only
The last time we saw Richard Gere and Diane Lane, in the 2002 guilty pleasure "Unfaithful," they were running off together after covering up Gere's murder of Lane's hot, young Parisian lover.
Ah, those were the good old days.
Their latest pairing, "Nights in Rodanthe," finds them falling for each other under circumstances that are even more contrived.
Gere plays a stoic surgeon on a mission to right a wrong; Lane plays an earthy mother of two who has separated from her cheating husband. Ge

Is Nicholas Sparks The New Nora Ephron? [Ahh, True Love]
As we eagerly await this weekend's Nights in Rodanthe to see if Richard Gere and Diane Lane can continue to make old-people sex as hot as it was in Unfaithful, we got to thinking — Nicholas Sparks is a total baller. Sparks, who writes the standard romance novel fare that stocks airport bookstores, wrote Rodanthe and has successfully pandered his schlock to production companies who have turned a number of his books into best-selling films. The Notebook, arguably the biggest success of the adaptations,

In the Warner Bros. release, Diane Lane plays a woman with her life in chaos who retreats to the tiny coastal town of Rodanthe, in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, to tend to a friend's inn for the weekend. Nights In Rodanthe Premiere Fashions Will Make You Weep [The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly]
People are manufacturing great excitement about the reunion of Diane Lane and Richard Gere for Nicholas Sparks' latest high budget Lifetimey three-hanky second-shot-at-love fest, Nights in Rodanthe. To the extent the premiere says anything about the film, well, let's just say last night's red carpet at NYC's Ziegfeld Theatre had us thinking more "illegal download" than Fandango. Think equal parts boring, depressing, and awful, with — thank goodness — a dash of Christopher Meloni to make it all okay. The

If Richard Gere has gerbils up his ass these days, we sure as hell know who’s giving them tongue baths. Richard looked happy as can be with his wife, Law & Order actress Carey Lowell, at the premiere of his new film with Diane Lane, Nights in Rodanthe in NYC on Tuesday.

'Nights in Rodanthe' web reviews
The biggest romance of the fall season has arrived. George C. Wolfe's "Nights in Rodanthe" may not be the best, but considering it's based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks, it is certainly the sappiest. Hey, and why not? Although I have not seen the film yet (check back for my review tonight), I am eager to find out what online critics have to say about Diane Lane and Richard Gere's chemistry onscreen. Oh yeah, and James Franco is in this too...

"Nights in Rodanthe": More grown-up than your average old love story
"Nights in Rodanthe": Richard Gere and Diane Lane are quite watchable in this grown-up story about two unfulfilled people who get together.
Review: ‘Nights in Rodanthe’
This adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks novel succeeds at being an entertaining and engaging romance film that stays away from sap and cliché’s of the genre, but still kind of prescribes to the formula.
Adrienne (Diane Lane) is a separated mother with two kids who is heading to Rodanthe for a weekend to cover running a bed and breakfast of her best friend. Before she leaves her husband says she wants her back and sends her off for the weekend to her thoughts and ideas running through her head. Pa
