Actor Heath Ledger’s Brooklyn Bar Opens
Heath Ledger’s bar, Five Leaves, in the Brooklyn borough of New York City is set to open on Wednesday, almost eight months after the actor’s untimely death.
“It’s all meant to be a super casual California- and Australia-tinged cafe, coffeehouse and oyster bar, with greenmarket snacks,” a critic for UrbanDaddy.com wrote.
With steel light fixtures and “wire concoctions that seem right out of a lab,” Five Leaves resembles “a bar that Thomas Edison might have bu
Heath Ledger’s ‘Dark’ performance inches closer to infamy
Saying that Heath Ledger gave an astonishing performance in “The Dark Knight” is bordering on the cliche these days. There is little doubt the late actor — whether he had tragically passed in January or not — offered the most memorable portrayal of the year.
And today I found this bit of news from across the pound, and the inevitable crystallizes further. It seems an up-and-coming painter has created a large oil paint rendering of the actor’s performance in one of the film&
Heath Ledger ‘Joker’ Pics Surface
Hopefully today will be better then yesterday. I was so busy all day that I didn’t get to post as much as I had wanted to. I didn’t even get to do my links! Ack! Today will be better. Oh wait, there is, like, nothing going on out there this morning. So…watch The Hills again? Maybe all 5 episodes. Yea…do that. It will buy me some time to find something really good for ya. I’ll work on it. I owe you that much. Here are some pics of Heath and Christian that were taken for The Dark
Ledger's Five Leaves Opens
This summer came news of a Greenpoint bar called Five Leaves opening and being backed by Heath Ledger (and now by his estate). Urban Daddy has the latest, on the day of the unofficial opening, reporting that "the designer is the man behind Moto, Smith and Mills and Tailor ... The end effect is a bar that Thomas Edison might have built for his buddies. The handmade light fixtures are steel and wire concoctions that seem right out of a lab, and the bathroom door is a massive, '20s-era boiler room door. Even t
Michelle Williams Mourns Heath Ledger, Quits Hollywood
It's been 8 months since actor Heath Ledger died of an accidental overdose, and his passing left Michelle Williams a single mom to their daughter Matilda Rose, now 2 1/2. For Michelle, who worked for a few months immediately following Ledger's death, didn't have time to properly grieve and needs to do that in order to get back to being creative. She also wants to spend time with her young daughter and focus on her.The 28-year-old tells the New York Times, &

In other words, the execs just want to “remind” those doing the Oscars voting that actor Heath Ledger is still dead, and still deserving of a post-humus

Dark Knight Returns for Oscar Run
Ok, so we loved The Dark Knight like everyone else. We saw it at the IMAX at an ungodly hour and all that. And we agree with all the early Oscar blather for Heath Ledger as the Joker, etc. But, just in case anyone missed it, or if certain people might forget it, Warner Bros. will be re-releasing Christopher Nolan's second Batman feature in January, at prime Oscar voting season, Reuters reports (via the NYT).
It's unclear if the release will be nationwide, or just in theaters sure to draw Oscar voters, who
Dark Night Oscar Watch part 55
Warner Bros really wants that Oscar for The Dark Knight and they are not going to stop until they get it. I also know a few of the execs over there are secretly high-fiving each other over Heath Ledger's death, because it really helps their case.
The WB plans to re-release The Dark Knight in January, the height of Academy voting season, as a "reminder for people." You think the fact that it is the second-highest-grossing movie ever would be enough, but studios like their little statues. And why not it is

The ex-fiance of the tragically departed Heath Ledger and mommy to Matilda Ledger recently opened up to the New York Times about taking a year off from work and her plans:
"I'm going to take a year off. I think I stopped feeling creative a while ago, and I'm just realising it now. I used to have all the time in the world to daydream and even just to dream and let your unconscious do some of the work for you. Now I'm up at five in the morning and I don't remember what I dreamed about."
In addition to spen

The Dark Knight has been an absolute phenomenon this year. Not only is it the highest-grossing film of the year by a long way, it’s also the second highest-grossing film at the box office of all time, behind Titanic. The film has also prompted calls for Oscar nominations to be given to the cast and crew, with Heath Ledger the most obvious candidate for his portrayal of The Joker.
But the Academy Awards voting season is a long way off, so what to do? Easy, re-release the film in January to remind eve
