Sneak Peek: The Movies We'll Be Buzzing About Next Year: PHOTO
Just like in the Fashion industry, we start hearing about new films about two seasons before we get to spend our hard-earned money on them. Here’s a sneak peek at the movies we’ll be talking about next year
New Images And Synopses From American Film Market
The American Film Market, currently going on in Los Angeles, is where a lot of indie movies have the opportunity to pitch themselves to potential buyers, trotting out whatever materials they've got to make their movie look like the next big thing. But when you hear "indie," don't assume it's all no-name actors acting on crappy digital video-- the movies up for sale this year include the likes of Ben Stiller, Mark Wahlberg, Ryan Gosling, Kirsten Dunst, George Clooney and Channing Tatum, with...
On the Set of 'The Fighter' with Wahlberg and Adams: PHOTO
Amy Adams with the take down! That's right: The most pleasant person alive gets in the middle of a cat fight in this clip from The Fighter . Like most catfights, there's very little real action, and the this video is actually a behind-the-scenes look at filming the clip, which also features Mark Wahlberg - or for these purposes Mahk Wahlbug - and Melissa Leo , an Oscar nominee last year for Frozen River . In fact, of the principal cast, the only non-Academy Award nominee is Christian Bale , and...
New Set Shots: PIRANHA 3D! And Richard Dreyfus!!: PHOTO
Jim here. Dread Central got their hands on some set shots for PIRANHA 3D and we are finally starting to see some of the action caused by those pesky little prehistoric creatures. The most impressive shot has Elizabeth Shue hanging for her life above the churning water which happens to be conspicuously reddish in color.
PIRANHA 3D stills with Dreyfuss and O'Connell: PHOTO
Here are some stills from Dimension's remake of Piranha, from director Alexandre Aja(Mirrors/The Hills Have Eyes). Piranha 3D has quite the puzzling cast,
AFM '09: Crazy Awesome First Still from 'Piranha 3D': PHOTO
One of the coolest things we stumbled across at this year's AFM are the first ever images from Alex Aja's ( High Tension, Mirrors, The Hills Have Eyes ) 3-D remake of Piranha . Beyond the break you'll witness mayhem in bloody waters, along with your first look as Richard Dreyfuss ( Jaws )! After a sudden underwater tremor sets free scores of the prehistoric man-eating fish, an unlikely group of strangers must band together to stop themselves from becoming fish food for the area’s new...
Richard Dreyfuss in Piranha 3-D: PHOTO
Check out a brand new photo featuring Richard Dreyfuss in the upcoming horror film “Piranha 3-D” by director Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes, High Tension) and starring Ving Rhames (The Wrath of Cain, Surrogates), Eli Roth (Inglourious Basterds, Thanksgiving), Steven R. McQueen (The Vampire Diaries), Christopher Lloyd and Richard Dreyfuss. Synopsis: In Lake Victoria Arizona, a tremor causes the lake’s floor to open, setting free scores of prehistoric piranhas…...
Mark Wahlberg in The Fighter: PHOTO
A new photo has popped up online from the David O. Russell boxing drama, The Fighter. The film stars Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale, along with Oscar
New Ultra-Gory Pics from Piranha 3D
When I first heard that Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes, Haute Tension) was writing and directing a remake of the classic 70's Joe Dante film Piranha,
Review: Curb Your Enthusiasm - Officer Krupke
( S07E08 ) "Some guy told me to go 'f*ck my face' once. He went to jail." - Officer Krupke With the Seinfeld reunion coming up quickly (next week's episode is "The Table Read") things kicked into high gear last night on Curb -- especially when it came to the role of Amanda, George Costanza's ex-wife. It came down to Cheryl and a busy, very popular actress named Virgina Sloane (played by Elisabeth Shue). Right off the bat, that creates a huge conflict since Larry assured Cheryl that she had the...
Larry David's Divorce Claims Custody of Actress
Most interesting guest appearance on a TV show last night: Elisabeth Shue on “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” As it happens, Shue’s husband Davis Guggenheim directed the Al Gore Documentary, “An Inconvenient Truth.” He won an Oscar for it. Who produced “Truth”? Why, Laurie David , ex-wife of Larry David , star and creator of “Curb.” It does seem that in the Larry-Laurie Divorce, Larry wins the Guggenheims. Having film star Shue make a guest...
Cecile De France Lives In Eastwood's HEREAFTER: PHOTO
The Belgian hottie who was bloodied up in Alexandre Aja ’s High Tension has joined the cast of Clint Eastwood ’s latest attempt on Oscar, HEREAFTER . By the way, will we ever get a Clint Eastwood movie that’s just for fun movie watching experience anymore? I think the last time Eastwood made a movie that’s not aimed to be all Oscar worthy were Bloodwork and Space Cowboys . After that it’s always been about trying to get another statuette for the old man…...
Piranha 3-D Star Jessica Szohr Lesbian Kiss
Piranha 3-D star Jessica Szohr is best known for playing “Vanessa Abrams” on The CW’s Gossip Girl , and she recently had the chance to makeout with Hillary Duff on an episode of the show. Need I say more? We have some screen shots below. Szohr has appeared in the thriller Somebody Help Me and the horror film House at the End of the Drive . She plays “Kelly” in Alexandre Aja’s upcoming 3-D Piranha remake releasing April of 2010. “Jaws…lots and lots of...
De France Joins Matt Damon in Hereafter
Belgian actress Cecile de France has just signed on to star opposite Matt Damon in Clint Eastwood's new Supernatural drama Hereafter . Genre fans will recognize De France as the lead of Alex Aja's High Tension (Haute Tension). The film tells the story of three people who are touched by death in different ways. Principal photography began last month on Hereafter from a script by Peter Morgan who is exec producing along with Steven Spielberg, Frank Marshall, and Tim Moore. Eastwood also serves as...
First Look: Official Photos from Alexandre Aja's Piranha 3-D
Now this is starting to look good. Dread Central has a few of the first official photos from Alexandre Aja's Piranha 3-D that they nabbed while at the AFM. There aren't any shots of any piranha's yet (awww!), but there are some cool shots of bloody lake, some Bikini-clad girls, and Richard frickin' Dreyfuss (fuck yes!). Hell, I'd go watch this movie right now based off of these photos, but I'm sure there is plenty more madness to come, especially once they finish all the visual effects work...
New Piranha 3-D Images: PHOTO
In case you've forgotten, Alexandre Aja ( The Hills Have Eyes ) is hard at work directing Piranha 3-D , a remake of the 1978 comedy horror film about a batch of mutated, and highly ravenous, piranhas that are unwittingly unleashed upon the public. DreadCentral recently got their hands on a couple of stills from the production and they look bloody good. The remake promises to "maintain the fun and thrilling aspects of the original film but look forward to upping the ante with a modern-day twist,"...
AFM: Piranha 3D Stills: PHOTO
Earlier today some shots from Aja's remake of Piranha surfaced at AFM. We figured we'd wait a little while until we had the chance to get you some nice clean looks at the goods before we posted them. Dig on the pics below and look for Piranha 3D in theatres April 16, 2010. Synopsis Jaws... lots and lots of jaws. From acclaimed director Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes) comes the new action thriller PIRANHA 3D, in the latest eye-popping 3D technology. A new type of terror is about to be cut...
Reviews: 'The Box,' 'Goats,' 'Precious'
Capsule reviews of films opening this week: 'The Box' (PG-13) (out of four) Cameron Diaz and James Marsden have a moral dilemma: Press a button on a mysterious container and they'll get $1 million, but someone they don't know will die. What button, on whose box, did writer-director Richard Kelly push to get the money to make this awful, preposterous thriller? Diaz and Marsden play a couple offered the box, button and deal described above by a grotesquely disfigured stranger (Frank Langella)....
The Box Movie Review
If you push the button on the titular box in Richard Kelly’s new sci-fi opus, two things will undoubtedly happen. The first is that somewhere in the world, a person you do not know will die. The second is that after pushing the button, you will receive a briefcase filled with 1 million U.S. dollars delivered to your home by one Arlington Steward, who looks a bit like Scrooge
Review: The Box: PHOTO
Richard Matheson's original short story, "Button, Button," was a nifty little morality tale about a couple faced with a peculiar opportunity -- if they push a button in a box, they'll get a sum of money but kill a stranger in doing so. That version of the story ended with the wife pushing the button and killing her husband, a man she didn't really know. As an episode of "The Twilight Zone" in 1986, the story ended with the couple paid off and assured that the device would then go to another...
Xmas ghosts, a dead popster, goat starers, aliens, a box, and some demons: VIDEO
Yes, it’s a real mishmash this weekend at the Box Office and I’ve got less time than usual — but let’s just see how it goes. Anyhow, the clear winner over the next few days will almost certainly be yet another version of Charles Dicken’s constantly remade and revisited holiday perennial, this time from Disney, “ A Christmas Carol .” Jim Carrey stars as Scrooge, who won’t hurt at the Box Office and Robert Zemeckis, in his “Polar...

The Week in Film: Some Movies are "Precious" While "Some Stare at ... Goats"?: PHOTO
It's the week after Halloween so there are two scary movies this weekend? And with Christmas not until next month, why is A Christmas Carol coming out now?
The creepy suspense inside "The Box"
"Donnie Darko" director Richard Kelley delivers at least one-half of a sophisticated, old-fashioned thriller By Stephanie Zacharek Frank Langella, Cameron Diaz and James Marsden in "The Box." About a third of the way through "The Box," I had a distinct sense-memory flash. For just a moment, I was 10 again, halfway through an episode of Rod Serling's "Night Gallery," a show my older sisters had repeatedly warned me not to watch, and it was too late to turn it off and forget what I'd already seen....
