KATE GETS 'NINE'
Kate Hudson has beaten out Sienna Miller and Anne Hathaway for the role of Stephanie in "Nine," the movie version of the Broadway musical, starring Daniel Day-Lewis as a man who loves women. Hudson joins a stellar cast, including Marion Cotillard, Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz, Sophia Loren and Judi Dench. A new song, "Cinema Italiano," was written for Hudson's character, a journalist for Vogue who also gets a sexy dance number with Lewis.

Daniel Day-Lewis eyes 'Nine' role
Daniel Day-Lewis is in talks to star in "Nine," the musical Rob Marshall is directing for the Weinstein Co. Day-Lewis would play the role of Guido Contini, replacing Javier Bardem, who dropped out of a planned fall start, stating he was exhausted from work and awards season. The role is a famous film director who experiences personal and creative crisis while trying to balance all the women in his life. Penelope Cruz, Marion Cotillard, Sophia Loren, Nicole Kidman and Judi Dench will play the women.

Nicole gets Nine for her dance steps
Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz and Marion Cotillard will be pulling on their leotards for dance practice when they arrive in London to star in a big Hollywood musical. The award-winning actresses will be joining Judi Dench and Sophia Loren (although I somehow feel those two stars don't rehearse in a leotards these days). They all play the numerous women in the life of a top film director going through a personal and professional crisis. It's based on Federico Fellini's classic 1963 film 81/2.

A Perfect Nine for Fergie
Pop star Fergie has joined the all-star cast of movie musical Nine, according to reports. The Black Eyed Peas singer will join Kate Hudson, Penelope Cruz, Nicole Kidman and Daniel Day-Lewis in the movie adaptation of the hit Broadway show, inspired by Federico Fellini's autobiographical film 8 1/2. Javier Bardem and Catherine Zeta-Jones have already quit the project, which is being directed by Chicago mastermind Rob Marshall.

Javier Bardem has stepped out of the lead role of "Nine," the musical that "Chicago" helmer Rob Marshall will direct for the Weinstein Co. Though his camp said that Bardem loved the script and the idea of working with Marshall, he pulled out because he is exhausted from work and awards season, and will take as long as a year to recharge his batteries.

Actress Dame Judi Dench is in line to co-star in a big screen adaptation of the award-winning Broadway musical Nine, according to a report.
