TRUE BLOOD “Sparks Fly Out” (Season 1 Episode 5) Early Review
It seems I always start out my TRUE BLOOD reviews the same way, but what can I say so far True Blood has not disappointed, and so the new episode “Sparks Fly Out,” which airs on Sunday, October 5, at 9pm on HBO, is another great one.
While we don’t get that much Sookie and Bill interaction, we do learn a whole lot about Bill’s past and how he became a vampire (so yeah, you probably shouldn’t miss that one). I don’t know if it’s possible, but I love him even more no
Songs: You Downloaded 'Em, Now Tell Us About 'Em [Tell Me Something Good]
Hi! So. Having spent half the year in a "no blog" zone, I've kind of lost track of that beast known as (semi-)popular music. (Seriously, I think the last new album I bought in a real live record store was the Portishead CD.) (Also I'm broke, like everyone else.) With that in mind, I've jacked Dan's audience participation bit in order to ask you, the Idolator readership, to tell me one (newish) song I should check out to make the work day go faster. There are no restrictions on genre (tho I'm cool on contemp
‘So You Think You Can Dance’ Winner Joshua Allen Wants to be a Singer
Turns out that Joshua Allen (the hip-hop dancer who won this season of So You Think You Can Dance) really dreams of being a singer. Why didn’t he audition for American Idol then?
Allen told The Fresno Bee this week that his dream profession might be behind a microphone, as opposed to on the dance floor.
“Overall, I want to be a recording artist. I want to be a singer,” Allen said. “I still want to push my dancing career. And I believe if you want to be a good dancer, you have to be well-rounded.

Jim Cramer Begs America To Abandon Hope [Television]
newVideoPlayer("/Cramer_didnt_want_to_say.flv", 506, 423,""); Whoa, Jim Cramer has fully turned around as much as a man can possibly turn around! The shouty CNBC (poor) stock picker—who as recently as last November was trumpeting "10 Reasons to Be Bullish" ("1. The stock market is cheap")—went on the Today show this morning to virtually beg Americans to pull all the money they might need in the next five years out of the stock market, no matter what the cost. He looks like he's about to cry. Th
The World from Berlin: Knowing When to Reach for the Fire Extinguisher
Ireland's unilateral decision to guarantee all deposits has ignited a banking firestorm. The EU is calling for member states to wait for a unified response. Fearing that they might have to assume much of the risk, German commentators are not thrilled about the current round of EU proposals.

Hollyoaks: Will Frankie and Darren be forced to tell the police about Jack?

Fearless Forecast - Leo and Crowe Will Outmuscle 'Chihuahua'
You can't blame
Body of Lies for being released this week, but
the new
Leonardo DiCaprio-Russell
Crowe film may have a little trouble at the box office because of its
political nature. Obviously, the economy continues to plummet; the Dow was
around 13,000 in mid-May and today it fell below 9,000 for the first time
in five years. That could trigger a down weekend overall at the box office, and
the most visible victim of that would be a movie about the war on terror.
It could happen that way
Lesbians, sperm donors, and incest in Australia!
With the growth of lesbianism and, apparently, less guys jizzing into cups for their procreation benefits, regulators in Australia are concerned that there might be incest going on down under.
UNREGULATED sperm donation is leading to unusual situations in which the children of lesbians in Adelaide are mixing socially - creating a risk of incest.
One of South Australia’s foremost experts in reproductive technology - Reverend Dr Andrew Dutney - says that in one reported case, about 30 lesbians were
Sunday Discussion: The Mighty Hollywood Reboot Trend
I thought I'd throw out this idea that's been swirling around in my head for a while. It seems like every week we see an announcement for another old franchise that's being rebooted, re-imagined, or remade. On one hand, some reboots turn out great (need I mention The Dark Knight?), on the other, some turn out worse than the original (like Dukes of Hazard). However, I'm interested in idea that Hollywood seems to be relying on these reboots to keep them floating in the black. And to be clear, this isn't about

Pak officials say abducted Afghan envoy "not freed" yet
Peshawar, Oct 1 (ANI): Denying reports appearing in the Pakistani media that the abducted Afghan envoy Abdul Khaliq Farahi was released on Monday morning, senior security officials in Peshawar have said that there was still no trace of the missing diplomat.
They said that the media reports were "false and irresponsible", and that they might have been intentionally planted by someone.
"There is still no trace of kidnapped Afghan diplomat Abdul Khaliq Farahi despite the 'media scoop' on Monday claimin
Chihuahua's Bark Is Loud at the Box Office
You know, the reviews for Disney's Beverly Hills Chihuahua were not as bad as I thought they might be, so that coupled with the fact that it's a family film meant that the movie about little talking dogs took the No. 1 spot at the box office over the weekend. The top dogs brought in a seriously impressive $29 million. That's about the same amount that Eagle Eye earned last weekend. This weekend, the Shia LaBeouf action-thriller came in second place.
Meanwhile, some smaller movies (a.k.a. "specialty films
Eric Wareheim's Music Video For Flying Lotus Beats Around The Bush
Yesterday, a video made the rounds in which a montage of porno clips were partially covered up with cute animations, so that suddenly it looked like people were riding ponies and eating delicious sundaes instead of raw dogging it, and cetra. It was deemed safe for work, but the truth is that it was not at all SFW. I don't know where you work, but I work in my home, by myself, and that video was not safe for my work. Thumbs down, viral marketing executives at Diesel.
I say, if you're going to cover up exp
GREEN Gosling?
I came back from a long hard day’s work to find that a rumor has arisen and it’s an okay one, I might add. Latino Review the website who gets the scripts so early, I think they might get a script before it’s even written, that’s how ‘amazingly crazy’ things can get. A trusted source over there claimed that WB, the studio behind Green LANTERN Live Action movie project, wants Ryan Gosling as the superhero.
That’s cool in my book. I think he’s a terrific actor (
New Name for Halo-8 Film Fest
Just a few days ago we got word about a new week-long run of horror and punk films called "8 Films To Kill For: Halo-ween Fest". Well, today we heard from Halo-8 Entertainment that due to legal pressure from After Dark Films, promoter of the Horrorfest 8 Films to Die For, they've renamed the event to "Halo-8: Films That Kill".
As Halo-8 president Matt Pizzolo explains in his blog Hollywood 2.0, "We weren't ripping them off, we were mocking them. I don't think trademark law is intended to prevent people fr
TV Stations Weigh Risk to Economy
While the federal government on Friday passed a financial rescue package, the television station business is warily watching the economic storm clouds.
TelevisionWeek National Editor Michele Greppi talked to leaders in local TV to gauge their mood and assess their tactical plan. What she found was guarded optimism, tempered by concerns about specific parts of their operations.
An edited transcript of her conversations with Post-Newsweek Stations boss Alan Frank, Gray Television leader Bob Prather, WMDT-T
Contact your lawmaker, quick
Now here’s something that will stick in your craw… Seems that congressmen and women and Senators are getting so many emails and calls about the proposed financial rescue package that they are considering limiting the number of messages they take, etc.
Oh, I get it. Cut off your constituents. That’s the plan. Sounds like some poor public relations. I suspect they better get better at handling comments and conerns from the people they represent or they might just find themselves with a
Prison Break Ratings Dropping from Sarah Connor Chronicles?
It seems that FOX might be blaming the recent drop Prison Break ratings on the Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. And due to that, they may actually pull the plug on Terminator.
According to SyFy Portal, “The network has been disappointed by “Sarah Connor’s” numbers so far this season, and some executives feel that the show is dragging down numbers for “Prison Break,” which airs as a lead-out.”
A source for the site says that production will likely stop o
EXCLUSIVE: ‘Iron Man’ Screenwriters In Talks To Pen Another Marvel Property. But Which One?
Nothing against the very talented Justin Theroux, but given that “Iron Man” was such an overwhelming critical and financial success, it’s somewhat odd, perhaps, that screenwriters Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby aren’t involved in writing its sequel.
But could the reason be because they might very well be writing a DIFFERENT super? In a word, yes. In a whole lot of words…
“There are some really juicy [movies] that we are very much talking intensely with Marvel about. We’re like,

Seriously, Why Not A Operation Ivy Reunion? [The Return Of Hedgecore?]
The L.A. Times music blog Soundboard, inspired by Rancid's take on "Knowledge" during their show at the Henry Fonda Theatre, looks at the prospects of an Operation Ivy reunion. While Operation Ivy went nowhere fast when they were actually together in the late '80s, the group's popularity has risen significantly. Sure, it's probably not cool to consider such an event, but the band's members are all still alive (a significant plus) and performing music and a short Op Ivy tour would be a license to print mone
