Shockwaves NME Awards 2008: Arctic Monkeys crowned Best British Band
Arctic Monkeys have won the Best British Band award at the Shockwaves NME Awards 2008.
The other nominees for the Best British Band award were Babyshambles, The Cribs, Klaxons and Muse.
It was the band's third prize of the night - they had already claimed Best Track ('Fluorescent Adolescent') and Best Video ('Teddy Picker').

Pete Doherty is to play his first solo show since leaving prison next week (May 17).
The singer will reunite with Babyshambles in London on May 13 before heading to Manchester alone.
There he will play an O2 Wireless Weekender show at Manchester Academy.
Pete Doherty confirms Winehouse collaboration
Pete Doherty has confirmed that he is teaming up with Amy Winehouse to produce some new tracks.
Speaking to BBC News, the Babyshambles frontman added that Amy is taking the lead on their joint project, saying: "I kind of took a bit of a back seat. She said: 'Listen to this new song, listen to this new song, record this, record this.'."
"I've got a truckload of some of her stuff and I'm going through it," he added, telling the news provider that Amy is "great" at the moment.

Pete Doherty working on musical
Pete Doherty and his former bandmate from The Libertines, Carl Barat, are writing a stage musical together, it has been confirmed.
A spokesperson for the Donmar Warehouse in London said its associate director, actor Douglas Hodge, had been working with the former Libertines members.
The project, however, was "very much in the early stages of development, with no deadlines attached", she said.
According to reports, the musical will be about the struggles of an up-and-coming rock 'n' roll band.
Doherty released from jail
The musician Pete Doherty left Wormwood Scrubs prison this morning after serving 29 days of a 14-week sentence for breaching his probation.
Prison life was "a lot of gangsters and Radio 4", he told waiting reporters, borrowing a phone from one so he could ask a friend to pick him up.
Emerging from the west London prison's gate at 7.10am, smoking a cigarette, the former Libertines frontman said: "Thank you Mrs Thatcher for putting me in the company of the most dangerous criminals in the country."
