Deception (2008) Movie Review

www.moviesonline.ca - 13th Sep 2008

Hugh Jackman: Had a chance to checkout Deception which is coming to DVD at the end of the month. The film stars Hugh Jackman who is one of my favorite 'newish' leading men in film. The plot of this crime thriller goes like so;
An accountant (McGregor) is introduced to a mysterious sex club known as The List by his lawyer friend (Jackman). But in this new world, he soon becomes the prime suspect in a woman's disappearance and a multi-million dollar heist.
The story behind Deception is a good one and definitely original and it has two very strong lead characters in it in the form of Ewan McGregor and Hugh Jackman. Unfortunately this doesnt save the film from having some serious flaws. The story although truly unique and interesting is poorly executed Read full story at www.moviesonline.ca

George Clooney Finds More ‘Men Who Stare at Goats’
George Clooney is currently in theaters with Burn After Reading, a comedy that pokes fun at greed, stupidity, and the CIA. One of his upcoming projects, The Men Who Stare at Goats, looks to do the same thing but with the benefit of being based on a supposedly true story documented in the book by UK columnist Jon Ronson. Clooney will play Lyn Cassady, a man claiming to be an ex-psychic soldier for the US military who gets called back to duty after 9/11. The title refers to the super secret training he rec

Ewan McGregor’s Long Way Down Comes to U.S. Theatres for One Night Only
I was a big fan of the TV series Long Way Round, which featured Ewan McGregor and his best friend Charley Boorman embarking on a motorcycle trip around the world. After that, Boorman did a follow-up series called Race to Dakar about his attempt to compete in the Dakar Rally, which was equally as gripping. Their third series Long Way Down, aired earlier this year on the BBC, and it features the two friends on another road trip, this time traveling down through Africa. I was able to watch all but one of th

Ewan McGregor eyes 'Angels'
Ewan McGregor is in talks to square off against Tom Hanks in "Angels & Demons," Columbia's prequel to "The Da Vinci Code" being directed by Ron Howard and produced by Brian Grazer and John Calley. "Angels" sees Hanks reprising his role as symbologist professor Robert Langdon who tries to solve a murder and unravel a plot by an ancient group, the Illuminati, to blow up the Vatican during a papal conclave. McGregor will play Camerlengo Carlo Ventresca, also known as Janus, the late pope's closest aide

Clooney & Another All-Star Cast Stare At Goats
You have to hand it to George Clooney, not only is the man a high powered chick magnet, but he also surrounds himself with first class talent when he’s making films. The former Batman and Oscar winner’s latest film The Men Who Stare At Goats has Ewan McGregor, Kevin Spacey and Jeff Bridges currently in negotiations to star opposite him in the film which will surely under-go a title change. According to The Hollywood Reporter the film is: “Based on the book by the Guardian columnist Jon

Photos From Mira Nair’s Amelia
Filmz.ru has a first look at the first batch of photos from Mira Nair’s Amelia, the Amelia Earhart biopic which is currently in production. Hilary Swank stars as the legendary American pilot who disappeared while flying over the Pacific Ocean in 1937 in an attempt to make a flight around the world. Richard Gere plays publisher and promoter George Putnam, who Earhart eventually married. The movie also stars Ewan McGregor as Gene Vidal, and Virginia Madsen as Dorothy Binney Putnam.

Christopher Eccleston joins 'Amelia'
Christopher Eccleston will share the cockpit with Hilary Swank in "Amelia," the Mira Nair-directed Amelia Earhart biopic for Avalon Pictures and Fox Searchlight. Eccleston, who jumped from the NBC series "Heroes" to playing the villain role in Paramount's "G.I. Joe," will play Earhart's navigator, Fred Noonan. Noonan flew with Earhart when her plane disappeared over the Pacific during an attempt to circumnavigate the globe in 1937. Eccleston joins Richard Gere, Ewan MacGregor and Virgina Madsen in

McGregor, Spacey and Bridges to Join Clooney in Psychic Iraq Movie
Now here's a movie that we're going to see! Ewan McGregor, Jeff Bridges and Oscar-winner Kevin Spacey are in negotiations to star opposite George Clooney in the new film The Men Who Stare at Goats, based on the book by the same name. Mr. Clooney is producing the film, while his long-time partner, actor Grant Heslov (we loved you in True Lies, Grant!) will handle the directing duties. The plot sounds like a mixture of the Bourne movies and Fringe. A struggling, down-on-his-luck reporter (Mr. McGregor) meets

William and Harry’s African Motorbike Adventure
The epic trip will combine three of their greatest passions: Africa, motorbikes and charity work. Prince William and Prince Harry are to embark on one of the world’s most arduous motorcycle rides to raise money for orphans and Aids victims. The brothers, aged 26 and 23 respectively, will make a 1,000-mile trek across South Africa and Lesotho in a journey that will resemble that of Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman, in their television series Long Way Down. Ewan McGregor & Rufus Sewell To Take On Shakespeare At The Globe
Ewan McGregor and Rufus Sewell are to team up as part of a madcap SHAKESPEARE experiment at London's Globe theatre. The two actors will play multiple roles in Hamlet as part of a midnight production of the classic play on 6 September (08). It will mark the one-year anniversary of The Factory theatre troupe's first frenetic hit, during which castmates swapped characters during the show. The idea became an instant hit and sold out shows have been taking place in and around London every Sunday for the pa

Why Can't Clooney Succeed By Himself?
The strangest thing about George Clooney is that everyone loves him until he does his job. Women and men, straights and gays, Democrats and liberals—all of them claim to adore the dark-eyed consummate bachelor. And yet, despite all the accolades, it seems that every time George releases a movie, it tanks. Yes, his films are very often heralded by critics. (Save for a misstep in 1997's Batman and Robin, his oeuvre is solid as far as the intellectuals are concerned.) But the box office tallies neve
